  1. Yes you can, many of us are running both versions mate. Enjoy her
  2. Hi there Fellow Rios, now that the F14 is here, it’s time to start seriously revising and learning the amazing equipment at our disposal. I was just wondering what methods are you guys using to help get yourselves proficient in the whizardy that is Rioing? For myself, I spent a good few hours doing the cold and dark training mission over and over again, until I could go through the check without being prompted. This obviously allowed me to get everything at least up and running. For the last few days I’ve also spent a few hours each morning, just running through the radar pulse Doppler training mission. Let it get to the end of instructions and then just let the mission run, trying to lock up and track the various aircraft flying around. Utilising the IFF and TV to ID the aircraft, and then following them in STT mode, doing my best not to get notched or at least picking them up again ASAP when they do notch me. Granted the aircraft isn’t flying, but it does give you a pretty good understanding on how the radar system is working, not to mention getting comfortable with switching between the various modes, while tracking multiple targets. Ok I’m sure that once I get into the air everything that I’m feeling comfortable with now will go horribly out of the window, but that is my next challenge. Oh yes, and when I can’t get on the pc, the manual is perminantly open on my tablet. Reading it as often as I can. Just got to learn the basics of setting up waypoints etc in the comp now and we should be laughing.
  3. Strange, might be a server setting. I have always received a request notification from my 2nd crew member.
  4. Thankyou that’s great news. Does this include the Kneeboard fix as well, which has the same issue?
  5. The panel is on the right side of the cockpit, however I don’t think it has any click points yet. Certainly I can’t get any green icon on it to interact. However I’m sure it will turn up in time
  6. Thankyou guys, As a Rio one of my biggest worries was how I would practice my procedures when my pilot was offline. With the great Rio cold and dark tutorial and the Radar tutorials this concern has completely disappeared. Spent all morning practicing my cold and dark starts, and now feel very confident getting her started from the backseat. Radar usage may be a different issue, but I’m hoping I will start understanding that soon. However with the stunning tutorials you guys have provided I’m sure it won’t take long. Thankyou, she’s a beautiful module. Very very happy with her.
  7. Yep all sorted thanks. Now have Top gun or the Iron eagle soundtrack to choose from. ???????????? Works great.
  8. Ok I’m blind as I can’t see this in the manual. How on earth do we use it, and can we add our own tracks. Specifically the Topgun soundtrack ;)
  9. If you look on the calendar function above for today, it states around 15:00Z for release. So 3.5 hrs time ish.
  10. :pilotfly::pilotfly: HOW on Earth is ANY dev gonna better that release trailer. Not only have Heatblur produced the best Module ever, they follow that up with the Best Trailer ever. It’s like thousands of Devs suddenly cried out in horror, as they saw the bar go into orbit. Bloody well done guys. That was mind blowing.
  11. Hey guys, so I read earlier on a thread that the F14 will have a tape player in it similar to the Viggen, which I’m assuming can be used to play music. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3298690&postcount=89 So I’m just sat here and I thought popped into my head. The F14 is a Multicrew aircraft. So I’m thinking how exactly is a in cockpit tape player going to work? Now in the Viggen it’s single crewed, so you can play whatever music you want till your hearts content, BUT with the F14, obviously BOTH crew members SHOULD be able to hear the music in the cockpit. So will the said music file stream from whoever is playing the tape recorder, OR will both parties have to have the same files and file structure installed on their machine? Guess we will find out tomorrow.
  12. Even though I get this free with the module, or can download for free from the site itself. Bought it for $5 just to show my appreciation for Metors work on this. Also purchased their entire collection as well.
  13. This video was stunning, really goes in depth into the radar and several other taskings for the Rio, I learnt quite a bit from it. Will certainly be watching again several times to fully understand the systems involved. A must watch video for ALL potential Rios.
  14. :megalol: Ahhh you know you’re flying poorly when Jester runs away. That made my day. :megalol::megalol:
  15. Guys, at no point in my post did I state ED WILL NOT transfer our points to the new system, I just asked if my understanding of it was correct, which since the post doesn’t mention any transfer but a expiration date being implemented some time in 2019 is that they would disappear after that date. Please don’t get yourselves all wound up and upset at the moment, because there is a fair chance I have understood it wrong. Hence the question with 2 options. Will our points disappear or will they transfer them to the new system? I’m hoping ED will see this and provide us with a clear yes / no answer. Please I don’t want this to turn into a pitchforks at dawn post, as at the moment we are only assuming what the discription means.
  16. It is tough, personally I’m going RIO, purely and simply because it’s something new. It’s a crew position we have never had in the history of DCS yet, and it will make a nice change learning completely new set of skills. Sure flyings fun and all. Hell its the main reason we are all here, but flying is flying, it’s the same set of skills on every module, apart from learning different startups mfd usage, radio usage, stick and throttle is pretty much the same on most aircraft. Being an effective Rio however has never been seen before, with such a complex radar system as the one fitted to the F14, it will take a while to master. Oh but you know I’ll give flying her a go as well.
  17. Now that’s how you do a music video. Just stunning guys
  18.:thumbup: This just keeps getting better each day.
  19. Not sure about that. Would mean I would have to build yet another screen to look like the F14 radar.:thumbup: All joking apart, while it would be smaller than normal, getting the exports onto my MFD screens would be rather helpful
  20. Hi guys, I have to say I’m very happy to read in today’s newsletter that the bonus system is being overhauled. Sadly the current one is rather difficult to use with many of us having large amount of bonus points sat on our account that we cannot use as we already have all the products. I myself have $68 valid until 2020, although I was able to use $15 on the new mig last week which was a nice surprise. Am I right in my understanding of this, that when the new program goes live however, any remaining bonus points WILL NOT be transferred over to this new system and we will all start with a clean slate, regardless of the current expiration date on our account? Or will you show loyalty to your customers and transfer whatever amount of bonus points they currently have across to the new miles system, so the fact that people were loyal before the new system do not miss out on the changeover? I’m not complaining either way, but figured I would ask the question now, as it isn’t completly clear on the newsletter, and I’m guessing many may wonder about the same thing. Eagle Dynamics Loyalty Program Following a lengthy client satisfaction review of our existing Bonus Program, we are delighted to announce the new DCS World Loyalty Program. This will replace the Bonus Program and will provide a simpler way to earn rewards and more freedom to use them! ED Miles are similar in many ways to airline miles and can be earned/awarded and used as follows: Regardless if a product has just been released, is already on sale or in pre-purchase, you will always earn ED Miles on the price you paid for the purchase. For each purchase, you will earn 10% of the Purchase Price in ED Miles. As an example: if you purchase something for USD 29.99 you will be awarded 2990 ED Miles worth USD 2.99 on the DCS World e-Shop. You can use ED Miles to purchase any product participating in the program, regardless if they are just released, already on sale, or as a pre-purchase! There is no limit on the number of ED Miles you can use for a purchase. If you have enough ED Miles, you can even pay for an entire product just using ED Miles. ED Miles earned are valid for three calendar years from the time of your last DCS World e-Shop purchase. Existing Bonus points will expire in 2019 on a date to be confirmed. Note that ED Miles cannot be redeemed for cash or any other conversion, and a list of 3rd parties participating in the program will be provided at launch
  21. Thankyou very much. Really is appreciated, will give it a go tomorrow.
  22. Cheers mate, I’ve managed to get a mission kinda working. Certainly the tacans are now appearing for both the tanker and Stennis, which is a start. Just struggling with getting the tanker to show up in the radio menu at the moment. But I’m not giving up. I’ll get this even if it kills me
  23. hi Guys and gals, just wondering can someone please have a look at this mission and tell me where im going wrong. I cannot for the love of me get the tanker to show up on the radio menu. 251.000 AM, ive tried changing the presets for the aircraft, tried manual tuning, tried both radios in the F18, even tried changing the tanker from a C130 to an S3. but the darn thing refuses to give me an option in the radio menu to select it. Tacan works great, Radio works great with the ships. Its just the tanker that im struggling with. Mission is attached below Carrier and AAR practise.miz
  24. Hi guys and gals, I need help, I am not the brightest spark out there, and while i can cope with learning the aircraft systems in DCS, when it comes to the mission editor, I am fully out of my depth. All i'm after doing is setting up a simple training mission with 3 x MP hornets on the deck of the stennis that also looks busy with static aircraft onboard, a tanker somewhere so we can practise AAR, and multiple targets that DON'T shoot back at the moment, to allow me and my mates to practise our radar intrigation and data sharing. Having weather would also be nice. However where do i start. I did make a mission with just the carrier and tanker, but couldn't get any of the tacans working, which made things rather difficult, Weather i just gave up on. I keep seeing people talk about Moose, Mist, scripts etc, and despite sitting here trying to read about it on the forums, watching videos etc, its just not going in. Any help and advice would be very very greatfully received.
  25. Cheers for all the offers guys, they are much appreciated. I will keep an eye open for you all online. Shifts are 6 on 3 off. Earlies, lates, nights and days and a mixture of 8, 10 and 12 hr days. But the best part is, work can change them depending on the services needs up to 48hrs before hand. Makes arranging anything, or having a social life almost impossible.
