Hi guys, I have been out of the upgrade market for a while now, I keep popping in now and again to see if it’s worth upgrading and to be honest apart from the odd new GPU, I never get the impression that PC speed has moved on in the last 5 years, making me just stick with my current build. She is still doing ok, and will play most FPS or racing sims on max, flight sims I do have to tone down a bit, but they work although only around the 20 - 30 FPS range and VR again is usable if everything is on low. I’m toying once again with upgrading although I have no idea if the pc hardware to achieve my aim of 60 to 90 FPS on high to max on 4K with DCS, Xplane 11 and Star Citizen is available yet I keep hearing about the next great CPU or GPU that will change the way we game and provide a large increase in FPS compared to what’s available now although nothing really appears to achieve that claim. Think I’m stuck in the rut at the mo, always thinking something better is just about to release. I’m also a tad older now with. Family, and honestly I don’t know if I want to have the hassle of building my own pc again, or just get a company to do it for me, Thinking wired2fire or Overclockers for the minimum of fuss. So what do you guys reckon, it’s it worth upgrading or continue hanging on for a few more months as my pc still works ok? I’ve planned a budget of 3K for this PC, as it needs to last me quite a while and may even be my last new build.

:megalol: Poor Matt. :smilewink:

:megalol::megalol::megalol: Pilots are some of the biggest drunks there are, ive lost count of the amount of times I’ve had to pick up officers from a hangar bash and get them home. However the main difference between junior ranks and officers when it comes to drinking, is when Junior ranks get drunk and rowdy it’s drunk and disorderly, however for officers is just high jinks.

The Gazelle and Cyclic input with a Joystick.
Cowboy10uk replied to FragBum's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
I appreciate that, sadly it’s one of the restrictions we simmers have to face. But what I mean is when I fly the Huey, the movement of the helo is a smooth motion even with my warthog setup. I don’t feel like I’m fighting with the sim so to speak. With the Gazelle, I wasn’t able to get smooth motion whatsoever, i would pull back and instead of the nose coming up smoothly, nothing would happen and then it jumps up a bit, stops then jumps again, likewise turning left of right, nothing happens then it jumps a bit in the relevant direction, stops, then jumps again, rather than a smooth progressive roll, that you get in other modules. I have no idea if it’s a bug, or the gazelle really does operate this way, although I would be surprised if it does. I appreciate you need to be fairly light on the controls, but it just didn’t feel right, like I said I’ve not flown her for a good yr or so, so I may just be extremely rusty, dispite flying the Huey most days. -
Fantastic at least now we know the date, and I can give the poor old F5 a break. For some reason I felt convinced it would be today, but no issue. I just want ED and Belsimtek to do this right. It also lets the poor harrier have a few more weeks of flying. ;)

Ok cheers guys, so I’m guessing it’s a mixture of both. NVGs not currently available in the module, but also it’s safer to land without them for increased depth perception. And the lights of carrier would wash them out. Many thanks for the answers, darn that’s gonna add a whole other dimension to the stress of carrier landings.

Hi guys, I freely admit to knowing absolutely nothing when it comes to carrier ops, hell the last time I attempted a carrier landing was back in Pacific Fighters a number of decades ago. God I feel old now. ;) Anyway I was just wondering about the use of NVGs during carrier operations? Should we use them or not? I’ve watched a number of the pre release DCS Hornet videos which include night carrier landings in the past few days, and I’ve noticed that not one person uses the NVGs. But it’s pitch black and you can hardly see a darn thing. Surely wouldn’t using NVGs been beneficial in these circumstances to allow you a better visual picture, not to mention spotting and landing on the carrier easier. As I have stated I have absolutely no idea how carrier landings operate in the Real World or if it’s just a case of the NVGs not being ready yet in the module. Just wondering if anyone knows the answer, or can explain to me, why no one is ustilising NVGs. Doubt using them or not will make a difference to my landings mind you, I just know it’s gonna get very very packed on the sea floor shortly with wreck Hornets. ;)

The Gazelle and Cyclic input with a Joystick.

Ahhh I guess this explains my experience yesterday flying the gazelle for the first day in quite a while. I really struggled trying to control her as I just couldn’t put in smooth inputs. I had been flying the Huey immediately before that and the feeling of movement is just night and day. It almost felt like the Gazelle was on rails with very jerky movement. Really affected my enjoyment of the aircraft. Is the real aircraft the same as this, or is it a bug do we know? -
Fantastic news, Huge thankyou to Wags and the DCS team. Just shows that Wags does listen to community requests, not that I had any doubt. Can’t wait for your guide Chuck, they are the best available by far.

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone else is having issues utilising the radios on realistic in Nevada. They now work fine on the Russian map, with myself being able to select and dial in comms on comm 1 or 2 and selecting AM or FM using my hotas. However in Nevada it only appears to work in auto mode, even with the comms set to realistic, not tested it in Europe yet. Anyone else got the same issue or am I missing something?

Will certainly be interesting. Seen one video with someone landing and then taxing to the cat again, and there didn’t appear to be any indications inside the cockpit to guide them. Nor could they reengage the wheel bar to the cat. Then again it was Devildoggamer, so it’s quite likely that’s down to them not reading the manual and not knowing the correct procedure. ;)

Hi guys, title speaks for itself. I tend to fly with a couple of mates, yet I’m the only one who has purchased the Hornet. I was wondering with the new carrier that comes with the Hornet, if I will be able to place it in map for myself to practice takeoffs and launches from, but my mates to also operate from it using their harrier and Huey Modules? Do we know if the carrier will just be put into game as a standard update or is it something we specifically require the hornet module for? Appreciate that we will be getting a separate DLC carrier as well at a later point. Cowboy10uk

Sorry, but I'm assuming you mean that you can still only have 2 people in multicrew and the co pilot has to swap seats? I'm sure I'm not the only one hoping for multicrew to allow 3 persons in the aircraft, so the gunner is another physical player. Don't get me wrong having a 2 person multicrew is fantastic and youre certainly ahead of belsimtek in this regard. I am enjoying current multicrew immensely, just dreaming that one day we will get a full compliment of crew onboard. Cowboy10uk

 +1 Really can’t wait for this map. After spending 18 months on the islands they hold a special place in my heart. Not to mention my Uncle Was there during the conflict on HMS Argonaut where he sadly lost 2 crewmates. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Argonaut_(F56) My father was sent out for the conflict, but the surrender happened while he was waiting to leave at Southampton Docks much to mums relief.

Well if there is going to be a south Atlantic map, that means there NEEDS to be Chinook developed. I mean how can have a falklands campaign without Bravo November. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bravo_November ;) ;) Cowboy10uk

Hi guys, I just added a couple of extra hueys into this as client, so my brother and I could have some Huey practice in Multiplayer, however it appears that when my bro joins he can’t hear any music on 117.000, or any fm homing tone. The needles do seem to move however, but when he flys over the crashed Huey, nothing happens. Yet when I fly over it by myself in SP they pop smoke. Is there something else I need to do, so I can use this for coop, apart from adding extra helos as clients? Cowboy10uk

Is it possible to use this for coop flying or is it sp only? Desperately looking for a good free flight mission for myself and a few mates to use to hone our flying skills. Cowboy10uk
