  1. Yep both seats are armed. ????
  2. Talking to my pilot, it appears that he hears the files that are in HIS Walkman folder, rather than the ones that I’ve changed. So I’m listening to Topgun, he has Metor playing. I’m assuming although we haven’t tried it yet, that if he drops my .ogg files onto into his Walkman folder then the music would be synced.
  3. Hi everyone, I was just wondering if there’s anyone who can talk me through entering waypoints while I’m in the RIO cockpit, as I’ve tried doing it a few times, and the waypoints bare no relation to the location I’m trying to input. So at the mo, I switch to Tac data I think it is, and click waypoint 1 so it has the arrow illuminated. I then go to F10, move cursor to location I want and copy down the Lat Long numbers showing in the top bar. I then go back into cockpit, press clear, Lat, type in number enter, same again for Long press enter, which is exactly the system I use for the ins startup. However when I then choose waypoint 1 on the dial, it normally states it’s 1000s of miles away. Should I be converting the F10 number somehow to make it compatible with the F14 nav system. I know I’m doing something wrong, but I’ll be damned if I know what. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Literally :helpsmilie:
  4. Has your Rio turned HIS missile prep on? Left hand wall next to tacan. Back for sparrow, forward for both Sparrow and Phoenix
  5. Make sure the switch in back is set to UHF2, obviously make sure he has configured his radio switch to UHF2 on his joystick. NOT the general radio button. I have found it’s a bit hit and miss, but just work through the various frequencies shown on F10 for the airfields. I can generally find one that works. I only fly RIO MP and this method works for me
  6. Practise on the radar is the trick, best way I found was run the Pulse Doppler tutorial. When it gets to the end of the lesson, just leave it playing. Then you can try various different techniques to lock up and keep locked the various aircraft, as well as getting used to the position of the aircraft outside flying to what is shown on the screen. After sitting there and running it for 4 hours, I was able to compete a real intercept from start to finish when he received a Phoenix enema. Don’t get me wrong, I am still far from Jester quality. But I am a lot more confident Rio than I was before it.
  7. Got the Iron Eagle soundtrack installed myself. Obviously also have Top gun converted so I can swap about.
  8. So as we know this stunning work of art came out on Weds. I had decided quite a few months ago that I wasn’t going to fly this beauty, but in fact concentrate all my efforts into learning the Rio role. So despite being at work every evening this week apart from today, I spent 2 hours Thurs morning doing the Cold and Dark tutorial over and over again, and then 1 hour on Thurs and 4 hours today doing the Pulse Doppler Radar tutorial, just let the main lesson run then just use the AI to practice locking up, tracking and doing IFF checks. Anyway tonight I finally got the confidence to put everything to the test and try it in a hot environment although granted I will admit the enemy was on weapons hold. ( Hey it’s still a training session ok ) :smilewink: Well back to the story, I sat there with my human pilot, going through checklists together, bringing this amazing bird to life. We took off, made contact with darkstar and turned towards the reported groups. It wasn’t long before I had picked out a couple of enemy craft that failed the IFF, 120 miles out but closing fast. With my new found confidence after hours sat on the end of that runway locking up friendlys, I was able to use the various modes and get my pilot into a position 42 miles away from the enemy aircraft, which I had determined were F4s due to the reports from the radar receiver. Set the radar into attack mode, talked my pilot into a position that would allow a successful Phoenix launch and pressed the big red button twice. 2 launches, 2 different F4s 5000 above us and 42 miles away. Result was 2 kills, which surprised me more than it surprised you I can say. So quick 180 and get us the smeg out of dodge, I then managed to lock onto a friendly F18, which we quickly vectored onto for a formation flight back home. Sadly Lag ended his flight when he suddenly jumped from our 7 o clock low, to striking the rear of our aircraft with his wing, causing it to break off and the pilot a long drift to safety into the mountains of Oman, now we didn’t come out of this lightly. The collision had killed our left engine and with it the hydraulics were also failing. Quick check of the Kneeboard showed the nearest airfield was an international airport, so quick vectors to my pilot, and a talk on until he was visual with the runway and he managed to bring us down safe. All in all we were flying for 90 mins, it felt like 90 seconds. I have been flying in DCS weekly since 2008, I have and have flown every module released for DCS and I have had a jolly good time. HOWEVER I can honestly state that this module, has just given me the best experience I have ever had in DCS. Working as a crew in a true Multicrew aircraft is a complete game changer. Thankyou Heatblur, she is a masterpiece.
  9. Hi guys, not sure if it’s something I’m doing wrong or a bug in the game. But I had an issue earlier where we started going off the runway due to battle damage and I pulled the get out of here handle. ( well the mapped button at least ) While the canopy fired and cleared as it should, the seats stayed firmly in the aircraft instead of carrying me and my pilot to safety. As these are Zero Zero seats, shouldn’t they fire with weight on wheels regardless, providing the seats themselves were armed, which I can confirm they were. This was in a MP session with the Rio ejection handle set to both. Sadly no track avalible as DCS crashed shortly after the issue when we tried to exit the server.
  10. I’ve found the best thing to do ref the locking up, is if you are struggling on the DDD, which let’s be honest is finicky at best, is to switch to TWS mode if the targets are 70 miles or less. That way you can just hook them on the TID and then do the IFF checks etc. IF you loose them from there then switch back to DP or Pulse, and try switching to different target aspects and change the radar elevations. There will be times when you loose the contact due to notching for a good few seconds. Try getting your pilot to change course and height also helps with reaquiring the target.
  11. Have a similar thought as you to solve the issue. Never used a switch as a modifier before, so hopefully she will work fine.
  12. There’s a light switch on the throttle similar to the A10, that needs to be set to on, before any external lights show
  13. Yes from the RIOs seat, but she’s extremely restricted by the number of waypoints you can type in.
  14. Ohhh missed that vid. Thankyou, time to get watching.
  15. Yes you can, many of us are running both versions mate. Enjoy her
  16. Hi there Fellow Rios, now that the F14 is here, it’s time to start seriously revising and learning the amazing equipment at our disposal. I was just wondering what methods are you guys using to help get yourselves proficient in the whizardy that is Rioing? For myself, I spent a good few hours doing the cold and dark training mission over and over again, until I could go through the check without being prompted. This obviously allowed me to get everything at least up and running. For the last few days I’ve also spent a few hours each morning, just running through the radar pulse Doppler training mission. Let it get to the end of instructions and then just let the mission run, trying to lock up and track the various aircraft flying around. Utilising the IFF and TV to ID the aircraft, and then following them in STT mode, doing my best not to get notched or at least picking them up again ASAP when they do notch me. Granted the aircraft isn’t flying, but it does give you a pretty good understanding on how the radar system is working, not to mention getting comfortable with switching between the various modes, while tracking multiple targets. Ok I’m sure that once I get into the air everything that I’m feeling comfortable with now will go horribly out of the window, but that is my next challenge. Oh yes, and when I can’t get on the pc, the manual is perminantly open on my tablet. Reading it as often as I can. Just got to learn the basics of setting up waypoints etc in the comp now and we should be laughing.
  17. Strange, might be a server setting. I have always received a request notification from my 2nd crew member.
  18. Thankyou that’s great news. Does this include the Kneeboard fix as well, which has the same issue?
  19. The panel is on the right side of the cockpit, however I don’t think it has any click points yet. Certainly I can’t get any green icon on it to interact. However I’m sure it will turn up in time
  20. Thankyou guys, As a Rio one of my biggest worries was how I would practice my procedures when my pilot was offline. With the great Rio cold and dark tutorial and the Radar tutorials this concern has completely disappeared. Spent all morning practicing my cold and dark starts, and now feel very confident getting her started from the backseat. Radar usage may be a different issue, but I’m hoping I will start understanding that soon. However with the stunning tutorials you guys have provided I’m sure it won’t take long. Thankyou, she’s a beautiful module. Very very happy with her.
  21. Yep all sorted thanks. Now have Top gun or the Iron eagle soundtrack to choose from. ???????????? Works great.
  22. Ok I’m blind as I can’t see this in the manual. How on earth do we use it, and can we add our own tracks. Specifically the Topgun soundtrack ;)
  23. If you look on the calendar function above for today, it states around 15:00Z for release. So 3.5 hrs time ish.
  24. :pilotfly::pilotfly: HOW on Earth is ANY dev gonna better that release trailer. Not only have Heatblur produced the best Module ever, they follow that up with the Best Trailer ever. It’s like thousands of Devs suddenly cried out in horror, as they saw the bar go into orbit. Bloody well done guys. That was mind blowing.
  25. Hey guys, so I read earlier on a thread that the F14 will have a tape player in it similar to the Viggen, which I’m assuming can be used to play music. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3298690&postcount=89 So I’m just sat here and I thought popped into my head. The F14 is a Multicrew aircraft. So I’m thinking how exactly is a in cockpit tape player going to work? Now in the Viggen it’s single crewed, so you can play whatever music you want till your hearts content, BUT with the F14, obviously BOTH crew members SHOULD be able to hear the music in the cockpit. So will the said music file stream from whoever is playing the tape recorder, OR will both parties have to have the same files and file structure installed on their machine? Guess we will find out tomorrow.
