  1. The aerodynamic buffet is correct. It might be a little weak at extreme alpha.
  2. Exactly. This should be lower priority.
  3. You could over stress a Tomcat, but you had feedback from G forces and a calibrated arse. You'll just have to work out how far aft you can pull in the sim with your controller setup.
  4. Yep, all sims haave limitations, but bad piloting should always be rewarded by bad results.
  5. It is awesome to watch Heatblur model the vagaries of real systems. Complex gear doesn't work perfectly in aviation. Even airliners that havé been flying for decades with regular updates have constant glitches and annoyances that have to be solved. Tactical systems are being spoofed, blanked, countered and jammed. This is just scratching the surface, and it is fantastic.
  6. The F14 taxiis like an old buckboard. Very stiff and rough. The taxi behavior at idle is being tweaked. Have you noticed the power of stabilizer braking?
  7. Right. It takes about 100,000 rounds of 5.56 fired to kill a bad guy too. Leo the RIO Enwright launched two AIM7's at a Libyan Flogger in 1989, both missed. Munster got a kill with his. 66% kill ratio, right? Why did the missiles miss?
  8. 99%. ;) The AIM54C was a much better weapon in all regimes then those 99% will ever know (or admit). ACM mode, hooah!
  9. The real aircraft buffets and provides excellent feedback on AOA and energy state. The sim doesn't "shake" or "vibrate" artificially, it buffets exactly as the aircraft did. It is a 6.5 G airframe, learn to manage it. You should be doing this in every DCS aircraft. Oh, and READ the handling tips paper in the sticky, it will help you understand complex aerodynamic phenomena. In months of testing, I have yet to pull the freaking wings off.
  10. Correct. Roll SAS off. Okie was a Maverick. Love the guy. Jets and crew have been lost with roll SAS contributing.
  11. Turn your the heat up in your room to 130 degrees to simulate having the air source off on deck on the boat in July. ;)
  12. This is how it was done in the aircraft. After landing. Flaps up wings to bomb mode. Engage NWS. Let cable pull you aft. Hook up on signal, power up to stop rolling aft and to taxi out of landing area. Don't use brakes when jet is moving aft unless in an emergency. By now flaps are up so wings manual full aft using switch on throttle. As you taxi life wing handle cover and hold wingsweep handle up. Drop handle and hands up to Disarm. After disarming, start over, hold handle up again. Go to oversweep when stab light on.
  13. For those who enjoy history. Topgun was founded to solve a problem. https://www.amazon.com/Topgun-American-Story-Dan-Pedersen-ebook/dp/B07F667DK8/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1553724493&sr=8-1-spons
  14. This is why commenting is useless. The perceptions are wrong, and the people commenting and making decisions will never have the data, and also have competing agendas. Performance deltas are all artificial. They pretty much have to be. Just enjoy the game in this arena.
  15. Roll SAS Off.
  16. Fact. Deal with it.
  17. You didn't inadvertently blow the gear down using a key map that you didn't notice? Good hydraulics? You've already cycled the switch and nose strut by kneeling. Have you tried cycling the hook and hitting the NWS button again? No conflicts on mapping on the NWS button?
  18. Not surprising. It's pretty obvious when you put your mask on with the O2 switch off. He knows that you will know within two seconds and doesn't want to insult you by asking.
  19. AI notching it? Who cares?
  20. It also blew up a shit load of targets under launch conditions that were far more challenging than anything you'll ever know about...
  21. Like Cougar (who was smart enough to turn in his wings early and get the hell out of that stupid movie) I flew with a picture of my wife and kid stuck to the Radar Altimeter, even though I wasn't married. Evidently, from what I read here, I had it all wrong, and imagined most of what transpired...
  22. This is all very confusing to me...
  23. Are you mad? Heatblur arrogant? Best bunch of blokes I've come across in a long time. Heatblur is listening and are adamant about getting it right. Good grief, there is someone on the Hornet team that is so full of himself and condescending that I can't stomach listening to for more than thirty seconds.
  24. It's like Spinal Tap. Our engines go to "11".
  25. And you believed him?
