  1. Just the idea of being back at NTC, even virtually, made me feel the need to turn on my A/C :fear: I like the idea of the Caucasus getting the Normandy lighting. Btw, are the Tomcat and Hornet each coming with a map?
  2. Ok, I'll try to land it on the other carrier to see if it works. Oddly my wingman landed back on the carrier sometime after I'd flown too close to the frigates, I'll check to see what RTB on bingo fuel does to the F-18's. I have just discovered that the cause of the sliding off the deck in my mission is the F-14 AFM, it is the only one that does it, the regular F-14 functions fine. The AFM's tail hook won't lower either, so I will just have to avoid using it. Is this the case with all the AFM's?
  3. Is there a way to make the F-14 AFM be able to use it's tailhook and not slide off the deck when set to start on the carrier? I love the way it flies.
  4. I looked for a similar thread before starting this one and couldn't find one, hope this is the right location for this topic. Question #1: How do you tell an aircraft to land on a carrier? I have a flight of 2 F/A-18C's and they take off from the CVN-77 and I have them fly a patrol pattern around the line of travel of the carrier group for an hour and then I set a waypoint for them next to a waypoint for the carrier and I change that F-18 waypoint to 'landing' and it sends that waypoint to the nearest land airport instead of snapping to the carrier. How to change this? If there is no way, then how do I use the RTB task command to get it to return to the carrier deck within a general time frame without doing fuel/knots/time algebra? Question #2: I have several missions where I've put F-18's and F-14s on carrier decks (both the Vinson and the Bush) while the carriers are moving and have taken off from them with zero issues, however in the above scenario, when I load into an F-14 (same mod across all my missions) it begins sliding off the deck and into the sea, whether it is set to start from 'parking hot, 'launch from ramp' or launch from runway'. What is causing that? I've hunted for these answers before coming here, any help appreciated. Note: this is in the up to date 1.5 DCS world
  5. Here it is. I opened several and they all show the F-14 as a 16 and some of then show 18s correctly and some show them as 16s. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByhQ1W740NKGaTFrRGdMbVpWaEE/view?usp=sharing
  6. Hey thanks, yeah let me try to find it. FYI, I was running the VSN F-14 mod and watching a playback and it was showing an F-16, is that maybe the issue? I'll grab my acmi file anyway.
  7. Great application, have just started using it. Anyone know where I can get an F-14 3D mesh for the viewer? I found this site, but I have no idea what to do with these codes, I take it they are for a 3D program? https://github.com/Vyrtuoz/Tacview/commit/ca6af56059536e9a07dcfb404cfa29045f6fc009
  8. Fantastic job, I found the Mustang mod by googling, have you ever thought about linking to these mods in the OP? Or are the links all dead? It is really hard to find active download links for 1.5 mods. I'm pretty new to the site and most everything posted in '15 and '16 now lead to dead end downloads :( I found a few on YouTube that still worked. I know people are running the caucasus map inside 2.0 and I asked about it on here the other day and the thread was locked and I was told not to put the caucasus map in 2.0 ha, so yeah, if anyone is running it and wouldn't mind sharing the secret, pm me, I will be very grateful! Anyway thanks again for the post.
  9. I've installed the Caucasus base map folder into mods/terrain and when I get into 2.0 I then do what to select the Caucasus map? It does not show up under terrains in the module manager.
  10. Where is everyone downloading this from? The link is gone from the OP
  11. Success! I would recommend to sticky this tutorial for setting up port forwarding, it was really easy for someone who has never done anything like this before.
  12. Thanks for all the detailed feedback/help guys. It is being blocked, I checked with a MP server started and I am now using the link you shared to get my port forwarded so my friends can join. We found some really well done MP mission s on here and can't wait to fly them. Will report back if I am successful.
  13. Ok, so I am confused. According to the link given, using your own computer was 'a bad idea' and it was recommended to set up another PC as a dedicated server. My rig is a i7-4770k, 16GB ram, GTX780 4GB and an SSD, is that enough to host for 2-3 other players vs AI missions? So just open my ports and setup the MP server?
  14. Got to ride in quite a few Blackhawks and Chinooks while in Iraq, and at Ft. Benning, Ft Irwin and Ft, Huachuca. I was in a scout recon squadron out of Ft. Benning. Had a night 'combat landing' in a C-130 in Iraq onto a FOB runway, basically straight down and leveled out for the last 2 feet haha. Then started taking 107mm fire while exiting out of the tail, fun times. Hadji always stopped firing their 107s and mortars when CAS or AWT came on station. The had a mythical fear of our air assets. You will never appreciate the roar of Apache's, F-16's, 18's or 15's overhead like you do when they are getting the bad guys who are shooting at you. Saw a couple of nice bomb runs in Iraq by a pair of F-16's as well. Sheer awesomeness. Being ground pounders in the army we enjoyed making jokes about the 'chairforce' etc, but it is done with love. Don't ever make a joke about the Air Force or Navy if you weren't ever in the military to my face. It's kinda like 'I can pick on my little brother if I want to, but if you pick on my little brother you'll get your teeth knocked out'.
  15. For a small group of guys who are somewhat new to the world of DCS, and after recently getting everything needed to play, we were pretty disheartened to find that we now need to set up our own server to play missions or campaigns together, in 2017. So now were are looking at getting a 2nd computer just to play with each other? Is there a virtual server option for the US that others use? Also is there a thorough tutorial for setting this up on Youtube perhaps?
  16. Thanks for the responses. Well, I was hoping it was not this complicated. Will ED ever change the way this works? Is DCS Steam version different? We prefer 2.0 but if Steam is click and go that's the most likely way my friends will play. My port is not visible via that link, I have Comcast and they probably have disabled the routing functions as you mentioned Rudel. Thanks for sharing that. MadDog, I saw those threads, but having already wasted time following outdated DCS server YouTube videos much younger than those threads (both from 2014) I surely thought by 2017 things would be different, looks like it's not. I guess the virtual server is my best bet, but the link for a virtual dedicated server in the tutorial goes to Wikipedia, can anyone recommend a virtual server host? What's popular for DCS?
  17. Myself and 3 of my friends want to play some missions together, we all have the same mission files. 1. We create a new server, we set it to public and load it up. 2. The other 3 of us will refresh and refresh and wait and the server never appears in the list. We also try connecting by IP, it never works. How do you do this? Does DCS multiplayer require modding config and lua files just to play with your friends? Every thread and YouTube video out there is outdated, I've even joined some DCS teamspeak rooms and cannot find anyone who knows how to do this, despite there being over a dozen servers up at any given time. :( My friends are getting frustrated and are losing interest and I am desperate to figure out what should be a really simple process so we can enjoy this game together. Any help is greatly appreciated! :helpsmilie:
