  1. The stick is definitely a must buy for me ; I wish the stick could keep the labels. Even if most of us will bind the functions on different buttons, I really dig the copy of the real thing.
  2. Two solutions here : 1/ This is a WIP element. 2/ The Harrier pilot working with Razbam has no clue how his plane was operating. I'll wait for the module being released and read about the first feedbacks before complaining.

  5. The way I feel it too and this is being problematic as others sim developers are far more reactive to embrace these technologies.
  6. It was a poor attempt of humor, I was being sarcastic to help our friend to ease its eagerness to receive his computer while having his Rift at hand. I failed, I can leave now.
  7. It's not. (You'll thank me later ; you're welcome)
  8. I must admit I smiled while reading the article. I don't get why you would buy a R7 1700 for gaming when a R5 1600X would be a much better fit - better o/c ability and cheaper. As I wrote a few messages ago, for someone planing to use his computer exclusively for gaming at "low" resolutions, Intel is a conservative but effective choice ; but, if you are going to use you computer for gaming at high resolutions/VR and some intensive tasks then Ryzen will simply obliterate the current Intel chips. Intel is going to answer to AMD's current CPUs in the next few months, but I think this is the right moment to show some support to the competition. They did a fantastic job with Ryzen and they deserve to be praised for it. Plus, if there is an important shift of customers from Intel to AMD, the two companies will offer us better products at better prices to retain their users. In the end, we will benefit from a healthy competition.
  9. These solutions sound appealing but the real trick for us, DCS users, is when ED will update its engine to adopt these technologies. Some of them could already vastly improve the performances of the game but are far from being adopted. Wag' stated a few weeks back during an interview that they don't have a lot of manpower available. I assume then, that they can not handle several major overhauls of their product at the same time. This situation leads us to a whole different topic : ressource management and projects priority. At this very moment, I don't understand how a company with so few people can afford to engage in so many different projects : developing a new module, developing a new map, developing new assets for a new era while new/updated assets for the current era would be more relevant, updating current maps, etc ... Don't get me wrong, I love what ED has in mind, this is one of the most exciting game out there. But is ED being too ambitious to pretend they can tackle all of this ? Right, in the long term they'll probably pull it off, but in the meantime, we have to bear the consequences of their policy. I really hope that the upcoming 2.5 will be a game changer and that ED will be able after its release to support new technologies.
  10. From what I read, Intel is still ahead if you plan to play the game on a 1080p or 1440p machine ; on these resolutions, the GPU will not be the decisive factor, but the CPU will be. However if you plan to play the game at higher resolutions or with VR, then the GPU will make the difference. As I said on some others topics, Ryzen is future proof thanks to its multi-threading technology. But who knows when ED will update its engine to benefit from multi-cores CPUs ? If you play exclusively on DCS, I'll probably go with Intel ; if you want to use your rig to play various recent and upcoming games, go all-in for AMD's solution.
  11. You probably shoud not OC your i7 7700K as this model is having a lot of temperature spikes problems. The fact is that Intel had to issue a statement to inform its customers that overclocking this model will void the garanty. "[intel] do not recommend running outside the processor specifications, such as by exceeding processor frequency or voltage specifications, or removing of the integrated heat spreader (sometimes called “de-lidding”)." Source
  12. Thank you for the exhaustive answer and the time you put into it. I sure hope the MB manufacturers will provide some way to disable the booster mode in the BIOS down the line. The platform is being well received by the enthusiasts and more and more publishers/developpers are adopting the Ryzen technology. Fingers crossed.
  13. Why not overclocking permanently your CPU (considering you have the right cooler to do it) ? Setting the CPU at its maximum stable capacity should fix the problem as well. Are you running a Ryzen CPU ?
  14. So much memories. I still have the game and its extension, Marine Fighters ; these games were fantastic.
  15. The good news is that a lot of people took advantage of the Rift Summer Sale. Perhaps their feedbacks (and I really hope they'll leave some) will entice the devs to fully commit to VR. Virtual Reality is becoming the best way to run sims, while there are improvement with the current gen, the next gen is clearly showing promise and should be indispensable for sim nuts. Better take the plunge now than later.
  16. Nevertheless, it is a software problem that can be solved by any developper as demonstrated by Jabbers and others users flying on other sims.
  17. You've answered your own question. The problem is not really AMD here but the engine used by Eagle Dynamics that is a "little" aged. Buying an AMD CPU today is a pretty good idea as the architecture is more future proof than the current Intel chips, DX11 and more over DX12 will benefit from the multi-threading process being used by AMD's Ryzen. Matt Wagner already stated that they are willing to update their engine to support multi-threading, but considering their limited ressources they cannot give a frame date to its support. With a little luck we should have it by the next five years))) If you're using your computer for other games and applications, Rizen is today the most logical choice ; as time passes you'll see some serious improvements as the new titles and apps will be built around multi-threads CPUs.
  18. Not a lot of people are running Ryzen currently but I sure hope ED will have good use some day of multithreading. This will improve significantly performances as each core will be able to handle different tasks in the sim.
  19. Just a bit curious, have you tried to run the game on the Caucasus or Nevada maps ? Is there any improvement over there ?
  20. Well, after all, it seems there is not a lot of people taking notes either xD Thank you for your message and input Sweep. The picture of your kneeboard made it clear and I can see the appeal when flying in multiplayer - which, I never did on DCS - still learning the ropes.
  21. Hey guys, A topic on the virtual reality section made me realize that some of you are taking notes during their flight. I was wondering which kind of notes you're taking and how you do it. I fly since the release of Falcon 4.0 and I never took notes, even during the preflight briefing. Am I missing something here ? Thanks for any advice/input on the matter))
  22. Support ED and buy directly from their store ; Steam take a fee for each game they sell on their platform.
  23. Pretty funny as most likely the future will be drone operated platforms. Concerning 4K, this is a great way to enjoy video games. Even if you're lacking the immersion provided by VR, you can't deny its advantages. Hopefully we'll get 4K VR hardware in the two or three next years - fingers crossed.
  24. He used to run my favorite sim oriented Youtube channel, I miss his content. Hope he will get back someday.
