  1. so using the AN/ALE menu alone WILL NOT rearm the countermeasures. However, if you select the loadout you want through that menu and then select the same numbers on the sliders it WILL reload your CM. HB, I understand its not supposed to work this way, but this is the only way i have managed to get a reload so far
  2. Same. I get nothing but a black screen in the EXP modes
  3. Using "competitive multiplayer" as a point for your argument isn't really a valid one in DCS. This game isn't balanced for the multiplayer experience as the jets are supposed to be modeled as close to the IRL counterpart as they can make them. Whether or not that makes them good or bad online is irrelevant.
  4. The weather stuff and terrain radar was part of the whole LANTIRN system and required a separate pod to work in tandem with the TGP side of the house. AFAIK the F-14 never carried the other pod and just used the TGP. The F-15E did/does(?) use the other pod for terrain radar though.
  5. are you designating with laser armed and pushing the designate button not just the lase key? Edit: Forgot to ask at what distance you are trying to designate? If you are trying to designate outside of 15 miles then it wont give you drop symbology.
  6. Manual TWS is all about managing radar elevation, narrowing the beam when needed and BAR selection. However just be aware that as soon as you or the pilot launch a phoenix the AWG-9 will go into TWS auto and that will automatically set all those parameters to try and maintain hostile and neutral tracks that are currently in the radar cone. For managing TWS auto I have found it best to label tracks I dont want the computer to track as either friendly or marking them as "Do not Attack" in the CAP panel. Limiting the amount of tracks to just the ones I am currently engaging helps the computer focus on those tracks instead of constantly widening the beam to maintain all tracks.
  7. its an ED issue and its still broke. Its way down the list of priority for ED to fix I'd assume
  8. bump. Can we at least get acknowledgement from Heatblur that this is a bug? Or direction on what everyone seems to be doing wrong if its not. I've tested the last 3 patches and still cant rearm countermeasures. It is getting a little old having to make the choice between having no countermeasures or grabbing a new jet and going through the full startup again.
  9. all the download links say the file is in owners trash and cant be downloaded.
  10. Any updates on this issue? Having to grab a new jet just to get CM is a little annoying in MP.
  11. its always been a hold down to lase, unless the TPOD is auto lasing during the last 10 seconds
  12. One thing I do specifically with TWS is knock down the TID display range to roughly match the target I'm shooting at for easier elevation correction. Example: Target is at 48nm, I'll set TID display to 50nm and narrow the scan azimuth onto him. Then I adjust elevation to cover both below and above his current altitude to give the radar as much chance as possible to maintain the target when he goes defensive from the missile. Keeping the TID display at 100nm - 200nm when engaging targets at 50 or below makes the job harder then it needs to be IMO.
  13. Enemy will see the 14 nails on the RWR but will receive no TWS launch warning. The enemy RWR will alert them to incoming missile once it goes pit-bull.
  14. Has anybody created a mod that changes the color of the text on the MFD's or the color of the white box that shows which MFD you are currently controlling?
  15. I was under the impression the CM had to be done first so that something changes on the jet for it to take effect.
  16. To add to this discussion I have seen the no rearm of CM during multiplayer. Steps taken to re-arm were as follows: 1)Open the AN/ALE-39 menu via the ground crew and select the desired CM load-out (10 chaff, 50 flares) 2)Open rearm/refuel menu and select fuel state and ordnance 3)When rearming is complete, check kneeboard for CM dials. (This would show the same info as before unless different amounts are chosen. ex. L10 C, L20 F, R10 C, R20 F) 4)RIO changes the programmer dials if needed to and/or holds reset on the AN/ALE programmer for 5 seconds and reset the counter dials We then takeoff and find out we have no countermeasures. Not sure if we did the steps wrong, or if this is indeed a bug.
  17. Does the ECM actually do anything right now? I know you can turn it on, but havent actually seen if it does anything
  18. I guess we are just gonna ignore all those Iranian AIM-54 kills on fighters then
  19. Like others have said. Within 15 mile's I tell the pilot to go PAL and then I start trying to visually acquire targets and look for threats so the pilot can concentrate on pointing the aircraft where it needs to be to lock the threat with the radar. When merged, I have found MRL to be pretty handy. It saves some workload from the pilot
  20. Just to clear up any misconception. I have never at any point said I made the sounds myself. I have in fact said that I found the sound files elsewhere and chose specific ones that I liked the sound of and were easy for me to recognize and modded them into DCS. I chose to share this with people after I was asked to be several people who had heard them being used. Who made the sound files? to be honest I have no clue. If it was Dee-jay then thanks for doing an awesome job. If it wasn't him, then thanks be to whoever it was. The whole purpose of the thread was more of question about what ED's future plans for the RWR sounds were. As it confused me that they chose to implement what seems to be the exact sounds I chose for my mod, when those sounds weren't specifically tied to the same RWR events in the first place.
  21. toggle up to SP and then it should be TMS right by default on the warthog stick
  22. :megalol::megalol: I appreciate the Princess Bride being put into this thread
  23. I got them from that which shall not be named. I basically chose sounds that stood out to me so I could easily recognize what each one meant.
  24. Hey so I couldn't help but notice that the new RWR sounds are a 100% match for the ones I uploaded as a mod on the User files website back in October. A little head nod for using my mod would have been nice I guess  Anyways, are ED still working on fully implementing tones for all the different radar's out there?
