I had points. I got it for FREE! -
need more information f-16 tgp black with no response
dmatsch replied to dmatsch's topic in Bugs and Problems
thanks for your help everyone. I wanted to make sure it wasn't me first -
Lately I've been seeing issues with the TGP on the F16. my loadout is with guided munitions, however in the mission, the TPG never really "activates". I get the full TGP display with just a black screen. None of the MFD buttons work. before I post a bug, is anyone else seeing this, or what am I doing wrong? FYI: I'm using auto-startup procedures.

Will changing player aircraft type in a DLC Campaign mission break it?
dmatsch replied to CommandT's topic in Mission Editor
the original question still kind of is valid for non-copy-protected missions. Say I download one for the M2000, but I switch the 2K to an F16, keeping the same unit/group names. Would that break the mission? -
I know there's a way to globally set the F2 view options (all, fog, friendlies only, etc), however is there a way in-mission to keybind something similar to "ctrl-shift-stand on your head-F2" to view ONLY friendlies, and still have the normal F2 to see red AND blue? How about to cycle through blues first THEN reds instead of the other way around? Thx in advance

A big thank you to all mission/campaign designers!
dmatsch replied to sirrah's topic in User Created Missions General
don't forget to mention all the various tools, coding tricks, hacks and sheer lua scripting geeniooos to overcome the limitations from the core application that have persisted for a decade now. -
time and true method is to put a single infantry unit RIGHT next to the unit you want destroyed. set a trigger on the infantry when dead to explode your target unit (with another action for fire/smoke)

sweet. thank you for this

perhaps this is NOT a display driver issue?

huh. I was told the same thing and promptly shot down. Every single other piece of software on the machine runs fine, AAA games, the "other" M$imulator...all works fine. ED response: MUST be my machine.

[ALL MODULES][SP/CO-OP] Liberation Dynamic Campaign
dmatsch replied to shdwp's topic in User Created Missions General
you're either not hitting the "begin flight" button in Liberation (you should get the accept/abort popup), or the popup is hidden underneath the main Liberation window. Alt-Tab to the popup, not the Liberation main window. -
DCS consistent crash. mods, no mods, scripted and unscripted missions
dmatsch replied to dmatsch's topic in Game Crash
ok. Thank you. I'll give it a shot. However, yesterday I spent about 2 hours with another flight sim with no problems. This has GOT to be isolated to DCS -

spent two hours on MSFS2020 yesterday with no issues. 10 minutes into DCS, crash. -

here is a stress test on my CPU. RTX2080Ti. No problems. 10 minutes into a small mission in DCS -- crash. _kombustor_log.txt -
you're going to have major cooling issues with a laptop with DCS. One of those lap coolers is a must.

No. I am a fighter pilot and an officer. I want ED to model a little enlisted airman holding an umbrella over my head whilst feeding me my pancakes before my dangerous mission.

but my instruments are getting wet. How am I supposed to read a soggy kneeboard?

BTW: I had a mission where I removed ALL client and player aircraft and just let it run. It ran fine. But as soon as I set one of the aircraft to "player" or "client", then about 5-10 minutes into flying...freeze then crash. Other AAA games with extensive hardware requirements run fine. -
I've had similar issues **recently** ED's advice: (a) remove those pesky mods (b) you have a bad video card (c) I don't think it's either. edit: I had a mission where I removed ALL client and player aircraft and just let it run. It ran fine. But as soon as I set one of the aircraft to "player" or "client", then about 5-10 minutes into flying...freeze then crash. Other AAA games with extensive hardware requirements run fine. DCS: stop blaming my hardware. It's not me, it's you.

I'm not so sure this is the case. I've run several different stress tests (3dmark, passmark, and one other that escapes mind) with no issues. Other AAA games work fine for extended periods. I'm not convinced that this is not isolated to DCS. -
AI is buggered to all get out. Good luck getting it to work out of the box (that you paid for). What you want to accomplish is only do-able via moose scripting.

That Web Based Mission Editor I saw in a (fake/real?) video...
