  1. seriously. there are so many glaring issues with DCS that need to be fixed and you're worried about turning a flight sim into Doom? What's next for the team's priorities, DCS cows? No. Just not. Not needed, not wanted, do not care.
  2. please stop mindlessly defending ED. They've released many, many paid modules over the past 10 years and for the past 10 years the same glaring bugs still exist in the core and make DCS nothing more than an empty sandbox pure flight simulator. I'm sorry, but the "C" in DCS stands for Combat - it always has, and this means AI effectiveness -- always has and literally NOTHING has changed in the past 10 years regarding these (many) ineffective AI issues. The "stuff they're getting done" is mostly fixes to recent paid modules (because if they didn't fix those first, people would stop buying modules) and little for core DCS (which is free to all). The majority of us have invested hundreds, if not in the low thousands on modules, maps, upgrades, campaigns etc. This is WAY more than the average AAA game at at ONE TIME $70 payment to a game company where you play the game once and you're done. I, for one would like to see ED's complete focus to the core game for XX amount of months and bring the game up to 21st century standards, THEN split off into the various module groups and make money off the new and improved core.
  3. where are your flightsticks? ...aaaand what are those light panels on the wall? tooo cool!
  4. heat. not only the PSU but CPU and GPU temps as well. I bought a crappy case that touted great airflow, and had installed copious amounts of input and exit fans, but with all the cables and hardware disrupting airflow, the PC shut down under load without the PC side cover removed.
  5. I'm going to bump this because I'm rather surprised that there weren't more replies and/or opinions -- especially on a topic such as this. So, please - my apologies for doing this: I'm really interested in what's a viable upgrade option to my venerable warthog stick/throttle. More capabilities, finer sensitivity, better quality (?). I've heard many anecdotal stories on warthog quality/performance/etc issues, but my 10 pound 'hog has served me well for 10 years, replacing a Microsoft sidewinder pro. Are these stories true? Would one have any real-world examples of migrating from a 'hog to something better? Would one care to share? What differences did you find? What did you have to get used to? If you could change one thing about your upgraded stick/throttle combo, what would it be? Would anyone possibly have one of those pressure-sensitive sticks that model the one that's in the real F-16? I'm really kind of interested in how those fair in a general flight sim environment. Please and thank you - if you're reading this and don't have any input, just respond with your current controller(s) setup and/or what you would upgrade to if you had the $$. (Real aircraft not included in unlimited $$)
  6. She's served me well for the past 10 years, and now I'm looking for something a bit more modern and functional and higher quality. The Warthog stick and throttle set the bar that long ago, so who's the leader nowadays? Looking to start a discussion on what's the best choice for 2022 and beyond. Winwing, Virpil, VKB etc. What's the opinions? I fly mainly F-16, P-51, etc, however I own quite a few modules and like to play with them from time to time. It seems like flying helos without pedals is close to impossible, doubly-so for the Apache. So, that questions raises two more: 1) does a decent twist-stick exist? 2) can you fly a helo with it? I want something that'll last another 10 years, so quality is important. So is compatibility. I don't want to be doing a rain dance at midnight during a full moon while shaking chicken bones trying to configure software. I'd love to find a flight stick that mimics the real F-16 pressure-sensitive stick. Anyone have or know about the various ones I'm finding? So, please and thank you to feel free to offer suggestions.
  7. Star Citizen is the most shameless and pervasive money-grabbing microtransaction vaporware scheme that I've ever heard of. Everyone knows that this "game" will never be complete and/or playable. Meanwhile Chris Roberts is making 300+ million off of this POS
  8. could you please send me the following? 40 t-bones 100 burgers 6 tenderloins 200 rocky mountain oysters
  9. it would be nice to have an ME option to automatically populate a map with military and civilian air traffic. I'm sick of big, empty maps that I have to spend hours adding aircraft and moose scripts. And debugging the horrendous AI. You could have configuration options to limit the amounts. You know, like a GUI version of MOOSE RAT.
  10. Consider me clarified on the 104, and I thought we were talking about fighters only, not bombers. Good catch. "...Early Starfighters used a downward-firing ejection seat (the Stanley C-1), out of concern over the ability of an upward-firing seat to clear the "T-tail" empennage. This presented obvious problems in low-altitude escapes, and 21 USAF pilots, including test pilot Captain Iven Carl Kincheloe Jr., failed to escape from their stricken aircraft in low-level emergencies because of it. The downward-firing seat was replaced by the Lockheed C-2 upward-firing seat, which was capable of clearing the tail, but still had a minimum speed limitation of 90 kn (104 mph; 167 km/h).[59] Many export Starfighters were later retrofitted with Martin-Baker Mk.7 "zero-zero" (zero altitude and zero airspeed) ejection seats..."
  11. SUBS17: The F-104 starfighter, designed by the legendary Kelly Johnson had a downward-firing ejection seat. The tailplane was too large to have it fire upwards. It's the only one that I know of that did this.
  12. I don't think I need to upload a track on this. It's reproduceable in every aircraft. When the main settings, Heat Blur, is turned on to any level, and you are following another aircraft, the lead's heat blur will blur your HUD symbology. Been like this for a while...
  13. I just saw this the other day. I should have saved the track. AI wingman and bombers were defying physics again. This was an old bug I thought they squished.
  14. ED has bigger AI and weapons fish to fry. I'm kind of sick of reporting issues, then getting jumped on by the community.
  15. "Uzi 1-1 --- ABORT TAKEOFF" Crap! Again!
  16. try resetting the ordnance type on the bombing waypoint action from "auto" to "iron". Then change the release qty to "all". Change reaction to threat to "no reaction" and add a "restrict jettison" option. Give the IP waypoint (the one with the bombing action) a good 20 miles outside the target and have a straight-line waypoint from IP to egress -- another good 20 miles from target. No wild turns.
  17. in mission editor there is an icon to the left that will allow you to add battlefield commanders, observers and game masters. You can then play the sim as an RTS and give tactical orders to units. The client or player aircraft won't populate, just the AI. There's a script for that.
  18. you can set the mission to have a Game Master. This way you can create and play missions like an RTS
  19. ...you spend 10 minutes in full lead pursuit of a speck of dust on your monitor. COME ON, DAMN YOU! SHOW UP ON RADAR ALREADY!
  20. nope
  21. I've actually never been able to fully complete a campaign without some sort of scripting error that I have to work out. I think my record so far is about 3/4 of the way through a campaign.
  22. all of that can be done with moose and IADS/Skynet. Requires heavy lua scripting, though.
