A request: screenshot or list of current, must-have mods
dmatsch replied to dmatsch's topic in DCS Modding
much appreciated. It's a pain rebuilding this install! -
I lost an HDD recently and am working from scratch reinstalling all things DCS. One thing I lost, though was my list/directory of currently (as of 2.5.6.55363). Would someone please kindly share theirs? I can't work on any ME missions until I get everything back to the way it was, or DCS will corrupt the save file, killing existing missions (and long, hard work). Thank you all in advance.

wait, what? We paid for this module! What do you mean it's never going to get completed?
-
I want to live in your world. I'm lucky if I get 5-10 hours per MONTH!
-
I'm sure everyone's been hindered by the fact you have to score direct hits to kill vehicles. A M82 hit 100' from a fuel truck should flip it on it's side, let alone disable it or kill it. Does anyone have any ideas for simulating splash damage, either from script or within the vanilla mission editor? I know about the trick to add an invisible infantry, and when he's dead, explode the unit -- How about on a moving convoy? Thanks for any help

standard ACES-II ejection seat?
-
did you know that Jan Michael Vincent was so drunk for a majority of his Airwolf sets that they had to film him seated or leaning against things and could barely speak his lines without slurring? Hell, why not the Firefox or a couple of Veritech Variables for the mix too? Can I raise you a Buck Rogers' starfighter?

the bit test button is at the back of the cockpit on the right hand side. over your right shoulder.

I just wanted to sit down and FLY a simple CAP mission with a bunch of red aircraft, and a few simple tasks. I don't want to spend hours and hours tweaking in the ME a mission just to fly it. ED - this is getting ridiculous. You can't get the AI to perform ANY task in ANY mission. The canned missions are hosed, user missions are hosed. For crying out loud, PLEASE FIX THE AI!! Since ED is too busy on new modules, could someone please take some of THEIR time and take a look at the mission uploaded? I have an F14 flight intercepting the Mig25s, and 4 harriers performing ASHIP. None of the AI flights perform their taskings and just return home. Can someone explain why? I thank you in advance. What do I have to do to get simple orders to work? Or are we resigned to fly in an empty environment? Back-and-forth of the ME, fly the mission, back to ME, tweak, fly, ME, tweak... I refuse to purchase more modules until the core is fixed. CAP Practice.miz

Getting AI wingmen to attack their target
dmatsch replied to snodipous's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
I'm having this issue as well. Anything more than a solo mission and your AI may or may not do what you tell it to do (and tweak and test, and tweak and test). I want to fly, not mission build. Well then, when DCS becomes a combat simulation once again, I may some day purchase another module. -
I just spent the majority of my only day off this week just trying to fly ONE mission successfully. F18 missions, F5 missions, F86 missions. In each case of canned missions, the AI does nothing. Does not follow orders, does not attack mission targets, ignores being shot at -- or just flies home, leaving my flight defenseless. Come on ED. Nothing AI-related is functioning properly. Even hours spent on the mission editor yields fruitless results in getting a mission to execute the way it was planned. The HQ4DCS application generates the same AI model. They DO NOT perform their mission. This is extremely frustrating. I don't want to spend hours and hours tweaking a mission in the ME just to have the AI perform erratically, or not at all. I JUST WANT PILOT, not be a mission scripter.

Please complete the remaining early access modules

a mission editor that doesn't take hours just to debug and get the units to perform as intended. a populated ground and airspace environment from the start. -
DeltaMike, sorry for the delay. Been working too much. Thanks for the work on the miz file. I managed a few minutes to play with it and it's a good start. MOOSE and MIST *ARE* cool, and as a programmer, would love to play around with them, but want to fly. Not code/debug more after an 10 hour day of coding/debugging. I just wish ED would put options into the mission editor to make this easier. Thanks again for your file.
-
I've been playing with moose/mist and the various plugins, but time and the wonky mission editor is the limiting factor. I spend hours and hours trying to work through the various ME bugs and shortcomings, but unfortunately don't have the time to actually fly in anything but an empty map. It would be wonderful if you could just click a button and add random and scripted air traffic that actually does what you tell it to do.

Hi, everyone. I am trying to create a base template for PG that I can use to create various single missions. I want to first create a rich and active environment WITHOUT adding any combat yet. Basically a lively airspace and ground environment to simulate a non-empty world It is taking way too long to add all of the assets, air defense, oil platforms, RAT, etc. 3 hours to create a simple template with debugging and script editing. I find that I don't have any actual time to fly. Would anyone have any kind of PG template that they could share that I could build on? Why doesn't ED give you an active airspace sample missions with their maps instead of a big empty world?
-
This. 1000% this. It takes so long to just get a simple mission working correctly due to the bugs in the base game, let alone the modules.
-
I am really getting frustrated with the core game. Absolutely nothing is working properly. I just spent yet another day off trying to create a simple missions. No scripts, mods or funny triggers. Very simple single-player strike mission with an AI escort. I spent close to four hours just tweaking the mission and correcting AI bugs that SHOULD NOT BE THERE in your core product. All that to spend another two hours trying to figure out why it's consistently crashing. I am tired of the bugs in your core products all the while you're releasing (and charging $75+) new modules. Please spend some of your profits fixing your core game (AI, damage modeling, AA AI, ME). Logs.zip

does anyone please just have a list of the airbase names for use in things like MOOSE?
-
Try a WWII bomber. They go vertical from 6K' to 30K' without losing airspeed -- and with a full bomb load. Even a F86 can't keep up with them. march 2019, three new aircraft released, and this is still not fixed? booo, ED! Not purchasing F14 until the core game is fixed.
-
it was a custom mission. no wind. right after my last trap, I taxied to the launch shuttle, but missed. rather than circling back around, I hit wheel brakes and full afterburners, released when the brakes gave out. I think this may be related to the massive pitch-up @>180kn when flaps deploy.
-
I was done doing traps for the day and decided to try a carrier launch without a cat. From a dead stop at the cat shuttle. It worked. I dropped to about 30-40 feet, then built up enough airspeed to climb. ~4500lbs of fuel, 2 9Ls. I may or may not have had two AIM7s, and a center tank. LANDING FLAPS, NO TAKEOFF TRIM. is this possible with the real plane?
-
...and whatever you do, don't hit the delete key to "delete" a waypoint. It'll kill your whole unit that you just spent 2 hours configuring*. *and by configuring, I mean "getting it to work the way it should".
-
as an update, I was messing with this mod all weekend trying to get it to work. as the previous post stated, they do work, but are really useless for anything but a straight un-pestered bombing run. Even flak makes them scatter. As soon as they detect you, all of the german bombers go into a straight vertical climb from 5000' to 29,000' WITHOUT LOSING AIRSPEED. Fully bomb-loaded. regardless of task, ROE, reaction to threat, etc.

Need guru help with motherboard
dmatsch replied to Svsmokey's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
ok. this happens to me all the time when I have to shoehorn a new component into my box. Just happened with a liquid cooler. You probably jiggled a plug loose or bumped a RAM module. Your new 1070 *DID NOT* smoke your MB -- UNLESS you actually physically broke something. 1. remove every peripheral on your MB except your main system drive and RAM. 2. Re-seat every plug into the MB. Also re-seat drive cables. 3. Pull your RAM and re-seat them. 4. Plug your monitor into the onboard video. 5. Power on Do you get a BIOS power-up? Do you get any status LEDs or warning beeps? Are fans coming on? How about your power supply fan and LEDs? If that's not coming on, then you may have a fried power supply. Again, happens all the time
