  1. while I completely agree that the other broken/in-progress aspects of the sim could use priority, some of us just like to fly highly detailed military birds in a beautiful populated world with the occasional pickle. I don't have a lot of time to fly the sim to start -- let alone two hour missions. I also don't have a lot of ME time to add X number of flights, tasking, pathing, triggers, MOOSE. AND THEN, debugging. I, for one would love to see "add AI traffic low/med/hi" at a selected airport. Add civ and military checkboxes to mix types.   4. I would go so far as to say to slightly vary the sound of EACH engine on a multi-engine jet. Separate the sound channels a bit more to emphasize left/right more. Currently when you start up any jet, each engine start-up sound is just a replay of the same file. It's obvious and slightly distracting. (F-5E)
  5. Does anyone know of a built mission in any map where we have a fully populated world to build other missions off of? a mix of civ and military traffic -- not with any specific missions. I'm familiar with MOOSE RAT. I'm currently building such an environment using it, but wondered if anyone has already "created the wheel" if I already have a viable template to work off of. any pointers? thank you in advance.

  7. I've never gotten trains to appear in-mission through the ME. I set it up with a single unit (1 of 1), then add engines and cars through the train configuation GUI. Waypoints and everything. They never appear when flying the mission solo. I don't fly MP. If anyone has got this figured out, please let us know. My P51 likes pancakes and trains in the morning.

  9. who are we all kidding? We're flightsimmers! We're HARDCORE flightsimmers because we fly DCS. Hardcore flightsimmers are ALL going to buy ALL the modules eventually...

  12. I hate to say this because DCS is literally the only game in town, but 2.5 is grating on me as well. I know it's only an alpha, but in my vast experience as a software developer, an "alpha" usually IS the release version. Most of this thread is focused on performance issues that the 2.5 release surfaced. I have a screaming rig and have acceptable performance -- other than the glitches, stutters, marathon loading and crashes. My beef is that the game is virtually unplayable -- even with the 2.5 release: utterly stupid AI unrealistic AI physics unrealistic AI damage modeling broken weapon damage modeling (drop an mk82 20' from a BMP) broken weapons (cluster munitions, SU25 ARMs, cannon spread) broken aircraft sensor systems (F15 radar) clumsy mission editor with no dynamic campaign capability broken campaigns and missions I really want to love this sim. I really was hoping for more than just a prettier 1.5.x. At least I don't have three versions sitting on my box anymore.
  13. it's an engine: the combustion of the combined compressed air/fuel spins a turbine in the back connected by a shaft to the compressor in the front, repeating the cycle.
  14. I am by no means a mission designer, but I am a software developer. If I was handed a project like this, I would mix the scripted with the dynamic and really make a rich experience. Perhaps scripted well out of sight of the player and required for mission progression, and more dynamic closer to the player to give the mission the "live" feel, yet still keeping the stoopid AI out of the picture. All in all, this is a great idea. I'm definitely going to think about this in future mission designs. ...or ED could just give us a truly dynamic multi-flyable-aircraft campaign with smarter AI...

  16. I was running the game on full screen. I had a couple of these modules pop-ups appear, however they appeared BELOW the active game window and wouldn't let me alt-tab into them. The game window stayed active focus and seemed to hold on the loading graphic. CRTL-ALT-DEL didn't even work. I only noticed the activation window because I restarted my PC and noticed it open in the shutdown list. Switching the game to windowed allowed me to alt-tab into the activation modals, however they still appeared below the active game window.

  21. thanks for the helpful feedback. Been using JSGME, now using OVGME. Recently, I had to burn down my PC and I don't have any local mods any more. What I was looking to do is start compiling a list of working and new mods for 2.5, beginning with the one in my OP.
  22. every time we get an update, I have to scour the forums to find the unit templates mod and others. May we please begin a master list of working 2.5 must-have mods?   23. I'd like to know the answer to this one too. I haven't been able to use trains yet. They never appear in-game.
