Try a WWII bomber. They go vertical from 6K' to 30K' without losing airspeed -- and with a full bomb load. Even a F86 can't keep up with them. march 2019, three new aircraft released, and this is still not fixed? booo, ED! Not purchasing F14 until the core game is fixed.

it was a custom mission. no wind. right after my last trap, I taxied to the launch shuttle, but missed. rather than circling back around, I hit wheel brakes and full afterburners, released when the brakes gave out. I think this may be related to the massive pitch-up @>180kn when flaps deploy.

I was done doing traps for the day and decided to try a carrier launch without a cat. From a dead stop at the cat shuttle. It worked. I dropped to about 30-40 feet, then built up enough airspeed to climb. ~4500lbs of fuel, 2 9Ls. I may or may not have had two AIM7s, and a center tank. LANDING FLAPS, NO TAKEOFF TRIM. is this possible with the real plane?

...and whatever you do, don't hit the delete key to "delete" a waypoint. It'll kill your whole unit that you just spent 2 hours configuring*. *and by configuring, I mean "getting it to work the way it should".

as an update, I was messing with this mod all weekend trying to get it to work. as the previous post stated, they do work, but are really useless for anything but a straight un-pestered bombing run. Even flak makes them scatter. As soon as they detect you, all of the german bombers go into a straight vertical climb from 5000' to 29,000' WITHOUT LOSING AIRSPEED. Fully bomb-loaded. regardless of task, ROE, reaction to threat, etc.

Need guru help with motherboard
dmatsch replied to Svsmokey's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
ok. this happens to me all the time when I have to shoehorn a new component into my box. Just happened with a liquid cooler. You probably jiggled a plug loose or bumped a RAM module. Your new 1070 *DID NOT* smoke your MB -- UNLESS you actually physically broke something. 1. remove every peripheral on your MB except your main system drive and RAM. 2. Re-seat every plug into the MB. Also re-seat drive cables. 3. Pull your RAM and re-seat them. 4. Plug your monitor into the onboard video. 5. Power on Do you get a BIOS power-up? Do you get any status LEDs or warning beeps? Are fans coming on? How about your power supply fan and LEDs? If that's not coming on, then you may have a fried power supply. Again, happens all the time -
24 GB of RAM , DCS on SSD , what next ?
dmatsch replied to JABO2009's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
dude. that graphics card is getting a bit old in the tooth. That's your big bottleneck now. -
+1 Could someone please give us a quick run-through until Chuck updates his awesome guide? I know how to enable a JTAC flight and get the nine-line readbacks. I'd like to know the 18's MAV firing procedures.

The other day I wanted to replay a carrier landing, and I actually noticed this for the first time. The whole mission was off from where the bombs landed to the carrier landing. The bombs landed about 500 yards away from where they hit in the actual mission, and the replay had my plane crash into the sea instead of the perfect !@#$% 3-wire. Funny thing about this, is that this is the first time I've noticed this -- in almost 6 years of flying DCS. I actually thought it was a new bug until I saw this post.

[FIXED INTERNALLY] Static Object <10 mile Visibility Distance
dmatsch replied to SonofEil's topic in General Bugs
Often on Caucus bombing runs, you can't even pick out vehicles at less than 6000 altitude. you can't even pick out armor types until about 2300. This and the abysmal AI (both retarded friendly and god-like opfor) really are the worst parts about this sim right now. It's nigh unplayable as anything other than a "fly around and look at stuff" sim. -
AI cheating behavior. Taking all the fun out.
dmatsch replied to robban75's topic in Aircraft AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
^^ This ^^ We all know that ED has to make money by releasing new stuff in order to have the proper revenue to fix the old stuff. However, the existing software is becoming unusable as anything more than just a fly-around-look-at-stuff simulator and not the COMBAT simulator it reports to be. Do we really need cows? New stuff? How about instead of a new aircraft ED releases a new "AI" module with intelligent ATC, AWACS, JTAC, a realistic NPC AI, carrier ops, JESTER AI, CIV air traffic, and a living breathing dynamic battle environment and campaigns? I'd pay $70 for that. -
Thank you Rudel

where could I find templates like this for Caucus or NTTR?

how else are you going to know if you hit the cows or not?

I just read about a bunch of radio static filters as a plug-in for Audacity. I was also thinking of just downloading some random radio chatter from youtube and adding those as background. I've found that it's not just as simple as recording someone reading from a script. If you listen to real air communications, they have they're own special cadence that's kind of hard to match from voice actors. Luck to you.

No wonder the only way I can get rid of my old cards is to cast them into the fires from whence they came!

And they say Air Force Pilots have no Humor...
dmatsch replied to MemphisBelle's topic in Military and Aviation
no, I think it thoroughly proves that they were NOT issued said sense of humor. (USAF vet here) -
I didn't know you could click through the warning lights. Good info. I'll also try binding left/right lean to mouse buttons. Also good info. Thanks.
-
The center UFC covers up the left-most buttons on the right MPCD and the right-most buttons on the left MPCD. I have to bind the "lean left" and "lean right" controls to see them, losing a control spot on my HOTAS. I don't do VR yet, and no Track-IR, so this makes the workload a bit harder when you're being shot at. Anyone else see this? I don't see it being reported at all, so I must have some setting incorrect. I've tried to upload a screnshot from Chuck's guide, page 8. Don't know if that worked, but just click the link and go to page 8.

when the sewing machine gets fixed?

my biggest fear is that both the entire flight sim (as in study simulations) as well as the desktop PC industries are going the way of the dinosaur and manual transmissions. We may all begrudgingly one day have to give up our virtual birds. I wish you the best, Lucky

I just re-played this mission last night. Sorry, I didn't save a track. I don't have a lot of free time to re-play missions over and over. Both of the 14s where shot down by the MiGs before I got to WP3. I had no air cover whatsoever, nor did they try to defend themselves beyond maneuvering. By the time the MiGs got to my flight (WP3), they still had a nearly-full complement of missiles to deal with me. They came in so fast, I barely had time to switch to AAQ. Both 9Ms missed. I really think the AI from the core game is borked and not this mission.

thanks everyone for the information. It was my assumption that since we were all from the same carrier, the 14s would provide air cover for an inbound strike package. Knowing now that they don't care about me at all will definitely NOT have me buying them a beer at the O-Club.
