Gents, Really appreciate your replies and help so thanks. I do realise that asking if the FC2 manual is available is a sticky subject what with software pirating etc but seeing how the BS manuals are available for download by anyone, thought it might be available as they are. Thanks again for the replies...I do appreciate people taking time out to help others. Kind Regards, Gary

All, Could someone give me a quick heads up regarding the communication menu options and general in game comms please? I dont have FC2 yet (tomorrow hopefully when I get back from work) but I do use BS a lot. The comms piece is crucial to my immersion (vanilla F4 was very good - if buggy - in this department IMHO) Is it basically same as BS or has it evloved at all? I have seen a few vids (with realistic sounding pilot and wingman comms) but wondered if these were edits or from in game? Any information anyone can post would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have access to the BS manuals from the DCS website - is this because I have purchased BS from here or are they generally available to anyone with a log in to the site? Asking cause id love to get a copy of the FC2 manual ahead of actual purchase if possible? Obviously if purchase is needed to get the manual then I will have to wait (im not after something for nothing - Im fully committed to supporting the producers financially) Kind Regards, Gary

Sorry guys - forget the post above..... Finally I now understand....downloading the FC1 set up file as I type this!!! As long as I dont launch the updated Lock-on programme after the update from FC1 but just patch again with FC2 it should all work Im guessing... Sorry to be a pain in the arse!!!

Gents. I thought my previous post and subsequent reply made it all clear - to me at least! Now more confused than ever!!!!

Gents, Could someone please confirm my understanding of this. I know it may be very clear to some - and I think I understand now but just finally is this correct? You will need to either have Lock-on and flaming cliffs installed on your PC to use the English download of FC2 or wait for the DVD if you just have Lock-on installed as the download will only update FC1 I presently only have BS on my PC but given how impressed I am with that I'm desperate to get FC2 running. Happy to go and buy Lock-on from PC world (£5) and then update to FC1 via the website download in order to be able to use English download of FC2 but wanted final confirmation that this is indeed the only way to do this now? Might end up costing me £50 but my experience of BS suggests oits worth every penny

I don't imagine it will be long before some company makes a commercial version... What a cool piece of kit. Might want to think about a patent or something.....this is going to catch on big time..!!! I have nowhere near the competence to do this personally, but I'd definately pay for one Regards, Gary

Vista and Multi-core/Multi-CPUs, Continued
Gary replied to ericinexile's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Wombat, I'm guessing the nervousness is in screwing up my install of BS and having to start again. However, if the offer to walk through each step is on the table I'd like to take advantage if possible please? Regards, Gary -
Transition completed. Thanks for all the help. I managed to keep my previous missions, pilot log, hotas and tir files. I done a little lua tweaking (water and effects) reduced the resolution lightly down to 1280x768 and FPS are very good now. Managed to complete first few missions in the campaign...so again, thanks to everyone who helped Regards, Gary

I'd probably live there for next few weeks...great idea!

Esac, Thats good to know... Did you just go ahead and install or did you have to change anything? Also, Did you copy across any files, and if so, which ones specifically from where to where? (although I assume from Russian directory name to the same name in English version) Regards, Gary
-
Thanks for the replies guys... This is a very nervous time right now (I'm downloading as I type this) as I have a working copy on my HD (Russian version) and I'm really worried that installing the English version will leave me with nothing working properly! Therefore I'd really appreciate official guidence on how to make the transiion smoothly whilst retaining some data if thats possible please. Regards, Gary
-
This was being discussed late last night and the last message I can find stated that Russian version owners should wait for the ED team to advise if we needed to uninstall that version before installing the English version. Having just got back from work I have searched and not been able to find the answer... Can anyone point me to the answer please? That is, do I need to unistall my Russian version before installing the English one, and if so, which files should be kept and transfered across? (i.e. pilot log, joystick profile etc, etc) Sorry to be a pain, but I want to convert over to the English version but dont want to lose data in the process if I can help it. I'm sure the answe to a fundemental question like this is here somewhere but cant seem to find it. Maybe EB this could be added to the FAQ for others and delete this thread? Kind Regards Gary

Has anyone though of putting up a retro screenshot link for Flanker, Falcon, Tornado and other great sims of the past? I think that would be cool Regards, Gary

Cheers, Just had a quick look...Price is £90 so looks like a good option... Thanks Regards, Gary
-
I'm happy to use it as is, so to speak. I'm not good with manual work!..lol So what does the "prepare mission" option do then? Regards, Gary
-
Gentlemen, My sincere thanks for your quick and helpful replies....much appreciated. Final observation.... From what I have read so far, I think it is possible to align ABRIS waypoint data with the PVI data with the prepare mission option but dont understand it anywhere enough to be sure about that.... Regards, Gary
-
Although not strickly trim related (well it is really I suppose) I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent FF controller for BS? I currently use x45 (old I know) and like the various hats and buttons I dont want to spend a fortune so it will be a matter of cost and functionality for me Regards, Gary
-
Thank you for your prompt help and support...its appreciated.. Regards, Gary
-
Thats exactly what I mean....The PVI says waypoint 1 but the Instruments (ABRIS and HSI) are showing information for waypoint 2 (as you say, the next waypoint after takeoff) So the PVI is showing wp 1 and the ABRIS is showing wp 0002 Are you saying this is correct way to use the PVI and ABRIS...(numbers will always differ by 1?) Thanks for the quick replies guys Regards, Gary
-
So basically waypoints set up at airfields are accessed on the pvi by selecting airfield button first and waypoints on land are accessed by pressing the waypoint button on the pvi? Thanks for the help Regards, Gary
-
Ok, I'm now offically confused.. To date I have been mostly getting to grips with the flight model and firing basics. Now at the point that I feel comfortable flying, shooting and landing consistantly. I decided it was time to read up and practice navigation skills so I created a very basic mission with just the 4 waypoints. Waypoint 1 is the take off airfield Waypoint 2+3 are on route points, and Waypoint 4 landing airfield Whilst I appreciate not probably correct procedure (PVI has other options for setting airfield options I know) I thought it would be a good starting mission. Trouble is, when setting waypoint 1 on the PVI unit (whilst in pre flight checks) its actually giving me information (distance etc) in the other instruments (ABRIS, HSI) to the next waypoint....i.e. wp 2 on the ABRIS Basically the PVI waypoint number selected relates to another waypoint number in the ABRIS I'm sure there must be a really simple explanation (possibly related to the fact im setting waypoint 1 as a starting waypoint at base?) I have RTFM several times but just cant find the answer to what I'm doing wrong. (also watched producers notes again) Any help available please? Kind Regards, Gary
-
I second that....but I have ATI card and control software....so help with this also would be great. Answers on a postcard please Regards, Gary
