Just curious but what is the thinking behind making DCSW + Su25 free? Is it to broaden the market appeal or more a thank you to those who have supported ED since the early days? Just my opinion but i'd really love to see a much expanded and more interactive ATC and Comms ability in game. Not sure it would be of much use in multiplayer as im sure those who fly online use TS or such software but for the single offline player comprehensive ATC interaction would be great. Now I appreciate that even small changes can produce very, very complex problems. As an example, just adding commands from ATC to "taxi and hold" or such like have a knock on effect for the AI calculations etc that follow and for every other unit in the area - but some additions would be really good. For those old enough - does anyone remember the ATC interaction from a vanilla install of F4?? I really enjoyed the extra ATC responses in this - ie you are number one, two for departure etc - unfortunately it seemed to me with every patch that came out following release in Dec the ATC got shafted more!! Has any development thought been given to ATC and Comms in general?

Civil aircraft - at the appropriate airports would be a huge help for immersion. To also have it incorporated into the ATC (or more accurately the player having to use civil ATC at these airports) would be even better imo.

Got my dx issue sorted with a download of directx online. DCS World working now - installed the a10 module but activation crashes. I assumed the code was my full A10c one? I will try another couple of times before sending the error log just in case my internet connection was flakey (would explain my download drop outs too so could be the cause) After my DCS world and A10 module my docs folder is empty of any manuals - is this correct? Thanks again for great products

Hi all, This is not a moan - just my experience. I think what you guys (and girls) are doing for the flight sim market is brilliant. And just to say Iv'e been away from BS and A10 for a good number of months and tried to catch up a bit this weekend. Firstly - exactly which files to download and their location is not very clear imo for DCS world or the BS and A10 modules. Secondly - the download fall out rate is really annoying! Finally - a really, really basic guide to which downloads to do in which order would be really useful. Finally got DCS world downloaded but DX install crashes....error message says d3dx9_43.dll is missing from my system....any ideas? Many thanks again regards, Gary

Lixma, Agree and remember it well. I note that Comms in DCS is WIP but that also code is feature locked. Maybe in future this part will get additional features (i do hope so) or that some mods are produced that get the nod from ED Sounds like you are still using F4? If so did, they ever reintroduce the queing for active runway calls at mission start? I think its so simple really and just the message that you are 2,3 4 etc for take off actually helps make you believe you are not alone and part of a bigger picture in the war zone. Thank you for the reply. I am aware I can reinstall without activation but really would prefer a workaround if one exists. Gets to the point where I spend more time installing and tweaking than I do flying (just got new hotas and DCS A10) so spent ages messing with my system already. If no workaround exists then I have a choice I guess - carry on with forgein languages or reinstall - or wait for Modman 7.4 in the hope its fixed Kind Regards, Gary

Hi all, I have been a keen simmer for many, many years. I have also been on here for approx 3 years! never seen this issue disscussed before. Heres the dilema It all really started for me with Falcon 4 Got to the point I just couldnt keep up with all the mods and add ons what with free falcon, BMS et all and I was wondering if anyone else felt at times overwhelmed and unable to keep up? Easy option is I guess to stick with vanilla install for ED but dont you then just fell like your missing out on something? I do hope ED continue to update their products utilising the best mods available. Just occurred to me that BS is now what, 3 years young? Testiment to a products value is its life span and although F4 is often mocked by some, look how long that has kept many people very happy! finally, This is just my personal preference but does anyone else really want to see the whole ATC, comms implementation ramped up in the DCS series? This part of the experience realy adds to my immersion personally and I can vividly remember the tower calls in the original F4 release (lost in updates and newer versions) stating you were 2,3 or 4 for the active....anyone else share my experiences? I have searched this site (and others) for the answer for several hours and decided to come back to the community for help. In an effort to get the english betty and general english voice comms back in ver 1.02 of BS (I do appreciate in 1.02 it was set to side dependant but want english for everything please) I did some trawling of the forums. Despite changing the localizer.cfg file as suggested it made no difference! Not to be easily put off I trawled further and decided Modman might offer the solution. Having installed Modman 7.3 and downloaded mod sound files to try it simply doesnt work as I want. Firstly I read that edits to the config.ini file were needed, which I dont understand because the changes suggested are in place already by defaul with the install. More of an issue is that clicking on run in Modman results in the launcher.exe being run without admin rights (despite this being set in advance on icon) with all the resulting error messages. Funny thing is, the mod actually works when the game runs (despite the error messages) with the sounds I want! To get to the point. I have subsequently read that neither BS or Modman should be installed under c:/progrmme files! Although Modman is not the default install location for BS is and thats where I have it installed. I have no wish to reinstall frankly and im looking for a workaround if it does exist please? Any help greatfully recieved as ever Kind Regards, Gary

Pre purchase manuals Hi, Avid Black Shark user and just curious to know if the A10 manual is available prior at all ahead of pre purchasing? Not after anything for nothing - fully intend to pre purchase but rather wait a week for my new PC to do the download but would like to read up if its possible legally on the manual whilst I wait? Ok---downloaded FC2 files and installed...launched game and activation window appears...all as expected so far... Now the tricky bit....wasnt provided with any activatiuon code at time of download---expected that..not paid anything yet! Question is...how do I get the activation code?.... Tried clicking on other link in activation window and just get a pop up box asking for serial number....grrrr Can anyone advise please? Kind Regards, Gary

All, Could someone give me a quick heads up regarding the communication menu options and general in game comms please? I dont have FC2 yet (tomorrow hopefully when I get back from work) but I do use BS a lot. The comms piece is crucial to my immersion (vanilla F4 was very good - if buggy - in this department IMHO) Is it basically same as BS or has it evloved at all? I have seen a few vids (with realistic sounding pilot and wingman comms) but wondered if these were edits or from in game? Any information anyone can post would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have access to the BS manuals from the DCS website - is this because I have purchased BS from here or are they generally available to anyone with a log in to the site? Asking cause id love to get a copy of the FC2 manual ahead of actual purchase if possible? Obviously if purchase is needed to get the manual then I will have to wait (im not after something for nothing - Im fully committed to supporting the producers financially) Kind Regards, Gary

Sorry guys - forget the post above..... Finally I now understand....downloading the FC1 set up file as I type this!!! As long as I dont launch the updated Lock-on programme after the update from FC1 but just patch again with FC2 it should all work Im guessing... Sorry to be a pain in the arse!!!

Gents, Could someone please confirm my understanding of this. I know it may be very clear to some - and I think I understand now but just finally is this correct? You will need to either have Lock-on and flaming cliffs installed on your PC to use the English download of FC2 or wait for the DVD if you just have Lock-on installed as the download will only update FC1 I presently only have BS on my PC but given how impressed I am with that I'm desperate to get FC2 running. Happy to go and buy Lock-on from PC world (£5) and then update to FC1 via the website download in order to be able to use English download of FC2 but wanted final confirmation that this is indeed the only way to do this now? Might end up costing me £50 but my experience of BS suggests oits worth every penny
