Can you share any details of the "all new ATC system" at all please? Kind regards, Gary
-
Posted 22 minutes ago It's a throttle controller you can buy, that's all. Thank you - I know that, I have one myself. Although It maps easily in DCS I was just curious what the changelog description meant and does? Regards, Gary

Changelog mentions TQS mission pack template. Can someone explain this please? - looked all over and cannot find how you use it or what it does? Regards, Gary

I'm sorry but this is absoltuely not true. ED have openly and deomstratably been talking about an update to the ATC functions for over 8.... yes 8 years!! Im in my late 50's and seriously wonder if I'll ever see it to be honest!! (but i desperately do because I do belive you will do it properly and well) Every mention of ATC since has been met with either a push to the "wish list" section, silence or "yeap, in train but hard to do"....and of course I understand that... but please.........just be honest and realistic with us "customers" I got a year long ban from this very forum for repeatedly asking about ATC when the Nevada map was launched...please do go back and check your promotional material if necessary...yet here we are many years later with very scant detail...or any programme of progression.....and very, very rarely any mention at all. (and again, I do understand every single user has their own wish list and priorities - this just happens to be mine!) To be clear.... this is not a swipe or whinge at ED..........but please do not tell me that you keep us all updated as to progress.....the fact is you tell us what YOU want to tell us WHEN you want to tell us!!......and that's your choice obviously...but please don't preach about transparency and openness.

So what next SharpeXB - force everyone onto the same resolution - or everyone into the same VR headset if you want to play? How do we penalise the youngstgers online so they have to suffer the same vision restrictions older people might have - you know, just so it can be fair and the same for everyone. Your arguement is seriously flawed - sorry!

I'm now in the same boat you were last March. H2 or H3? I prefer the fast jets personally (so assume yaw not needed too) but wondered if you did take the plunge and any feedback you can offer me? Regards, Gary

4 january 2023 DCS 2021/2022 and Beyond Video feature Updates?
Gary replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS 2.9
Dear Ed, Congratulations on the 2023 video and wishing all the staff there at ED a very happy and healthy New Year! I appreciate the 2023 video focused on modules whilst also mentioning the DLSS and MT implementation - and the recent newsletter provided us with an update on the Dynamic Campaign progress, but could I ask please for an update regarding the ATC workstream? Would I be correct in thinking the DC will require some improvements in this area to be viable, or is it likely to follow the DC beta roll out? Kind Regards, Gary -
Rudel, You sir are a gentleman - thank you. Having been around here for a while I must say I'm yet to see a post from you which was anything but helpful! Thanks again - I'll jump on DCS tomorrow and start checking. Kind regards, Gary

SEPECAT Jaguar A - Looking for modders
Gary replied to Aigle2's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I "might" be able to provide access to a SME (current RAF pilot who flew Jags extensively before transitioning onto the Typoon) Not discussed his interest in helping but could do so if needed? Regards, Gary -
Thank you to all that have replied. I appreciate your time in doing so. Ok - so I guess my starting point is to confirm my Beta install is as it should be and go from there. Is there listed anywhere the default kneeboards by map and airframe? I have the F16 - F18 and Harrier plus all the maps so these will be my starting checks. If there is a list of the defaults somewhere as I would like to check I have these first and foremost and go from there. Hope that makes sense? (I've completed a full repair and no mods at all) Regards, Gary
-
Apologies if this is a silly question! Do DCS modules come with default kneeboards or do you have to download the ones you might want from the user files? I've seen a number of tutorials on how to import mark points or target points for the Harrier (all using the same kneeboard) but my install doesnt have any kneeboards at all by default - not for any airframe? - is this correct as is (tried a slow repair) and I need to install kneeboards myself? Regards, Gary

Not seeing an upgrade option even with ownership of Black Shark 2
Gary replied to elmo's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark 3
Just to say I raised a ticket and my purchase has now been reduced to include the discount. Thank you ED for sorting for me. Appreciated. -

Same - raised a ticket and on standalone. Gary -
This might be of some small help or contain bits of what you are looking for? (from 13 min mark onwards) Regards, Gary
-
Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for their help and advice on this topic. It is very much appreciated. Indeed, what is technically correct and what works in DCS for gameplay / personal circumstances requires some concessions and adjustments. I've now settled (I think) on a FOV for me of 95 - this enables me to read the MFD's without the need to zoom in - unless its detailed works on the moving map for example. Outside objects seem to scale pretty well at this setting and I do have a zoom axis mapped if needed for spotting etc. Kind regards, Gary
-
I suspect that is very good advice - thank you.
-
Just that its been moved to UI layer in the keybind drop down menu. And yes, you can still bind it.

Thank you so much for your help. Unfortunately my monitor aspect in DCS is reported as being 43:18 so the numbers above don't really help me for my set up. I have now added my particular details below just in case one of the very helpful community members here can offer some tailored advice for me specifically. Monitor is a 34" wide curved screen display. My eyes are approx 24" from the screen I play at a resolution of 3440 x 1440 (43:18) Not sure this bit matters but I also use Tobii 5 head tracking (which I think is great btw) Any further guidence would be most welcome - and thanks again to those who have replied. Regards, Gary
-
I understand the comment that it will depend on the airframe - the rest of your reply seems to suggest my question was related to spotting - which it wasn't. Thanks though anyway. Ok - that makes sense. I'm sort of getting my head around the issue now and probably explains why I had been confused. Thank you! Arty, Yes - I had thought that adjusting the FOV to that of what a real pilot might see was the answer. I now understand the my personal set up has a significent impact on this AND my ultimately my playing experience too. Thank you too for helping me get my head around the issue!!
-
The resetting behaviour when you touch your zoom control was also present pre 2.8 - in 2.7 it was a LUA file edit but still reset like it does now upon touching zoom control. No big deal though. Easy enough to get it back where it was. Question is - what is the correct FOV for each module so it replicates a real pilots perspective from each pit? - particulary the Harrier (asking for a friend!)
-
Ok - something that has puzzled me for a while and I suspect related to the copious discussions regarding spotting (not the only reason though) is setting the correct and acurate FOV in the cockpit view. I understand it might change subltly for each module but can anyone who knows for sure give me some idea of the correct FOV setting for the Harrier pit please? - I've watched a number of youtube videos but these quite often contain conflicting opinions. Surely there is a number (or very small range) that is definatively correct? Ultimately I want to set my FOV so that it matches very closely to that of a pilot who is actually sitting in his seat (in terms of visable guages) and the outside world being correctly sized as per real life. I will of course still use the zoom as needed but at least i know what the usual default should be for normal flight and transitions etc. Regards, Gary
-
Ok - that's a real shame though. I was drawn to your content (Cerebus) because of the superb ATC implementation and additions. Much more immersive for me. Additions such as ATIS, seperate ground, tower, dep/app agencies is really what floats my boat - more so than actual weapons deployement. I will most definately still purchase the campaign because good content creators deserve to be supported. In addition your supporting documentation for the previous campaign was outstanding too! I fear by the time ED address the shocking ATC implementation (which actually really detracts from the overall product now in my view - who wants to be spamed by AWACS or No2 every 3 seceonds!) it will be my grandchildren who see the benefit rather than me. Kind Regards, Gary
-
Great news. Hopefully 2.8 played nicely. Looking forward to this, my first campaign! One quick question. Watched the ATC intro yesterday and noticed how "tower" also managed the "ground" return to ramp instruction. Is that a normal procedure for FOB's - being relatively small? - so no need for dedicated ground controllers. Also can I assume ATIS will be present? Regards, Gary

Q: Spawning a/c in front of own a/c via radio commands at any given time
Gary replied to Gideon312's topic in Mission Editor
I've no interest in this topic personally but thought it worthy to mention how amazingly helpful and kind this community are at times! cfrag - It's honerable that you spent time and effort to help a fellow simmer. Regards, Gary -
Feedback after finishing the campaign
Gary replied to fylzz's topic in F/A-18C Operation Cerberus North Campaign
Thank you for the speedy reply. I did assume the missions themselves wouldnt function properly but for me - just flying into the AO and doing something random and then flying back with your ATC implementation would be a whole lot better than what I have now with the default ATC and hugely enjoyable I'm sure. I wasnt being lazy btw - I would have tried myself already but not with the gaming PC atm.
