Is the radio menu interface workable for carrier ops?
Gary replied to Bearfoot's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Wether the interaction is via a key press, or VA, I think the ability the "hide" the actual menu text message and your own pilots voice should be options. I know Viacom gives you the ability to remove your own voice (the DCS option is not working anymore) and DCS provides an option to remove subtitles but being able to do both (inc radio menu) would be good in my view. Kind Regards, Gary -
Rudel, Thank you - very much appreciated. I've got the Virpil airport equipment Mod installed and working so with this addition I've got two of the three parts I need for my goal. Just ATIS to add and then see how I can fold all three elements into a new single miz. Thanks again and I will post here the final product if i manage to complete it. Regards, Gary

Rudel, Thank you for taking the time to reply. My apologies, I should have made it clearer that I fully appreciate that the mods themselves need to be downloaded and installed in "Save Games" I can of course download and install each as necessary - my request part was if anyone had an example miz that already made use of the mods and included the necessary scripts? Thanks again, Gary

To all the creative experts, I would like to create (or find an existing) mission template that includes various standalone Mods collectively. For example a base Miz that already includes: ATIS mod RAT (for both military and civilian flights) Airport misc items (fuel trucks, signage, generatrors etc) So my question is: Is it possible to find seperate miz files that include any of the above and then somehow merge them into a single new miz file? Finally my request is for details of anything that already includes some of the above, if not all? Thank you & kind Regards, Gary

Given the ammount of time modules exist in EA format - presently measured in years for complex items (and ATC has been said to be complex) I'd guess we are a very very long way off having the updated comms overhaul added. Regards, Gary

So here is my theory: Everyone is smashing the F5 key waiting for this "announcement of an announcement" and they are bringing the big hitter out to deliver it. (so it must be really big right?) How about if the SC announcement is complimented with "news" of the new "mind blowing" aircraft module ED is working on in the background and that module happens to be another Carrier capable aircraft? Maybe a AWACS capable module players can fly and then perform the GCI role in game? Just my theory of course. Kind Regards, Gary

I'm sorry but what an absolutely nonesense answer. You do realise that this is all make believe don't you? - from the moment you double click on the DCS desktop icon its all just smoke and mirrors with pixels thrown onto a 2d or VR screen. DCS is a very different product for a whole variety of customers. Some love the flight modelling, some the systems, others the fictional battles, I could go on and on. Personally for me, DCS is first and foremost a flight simulator and frankly, without the proper interaction with ATC, Marshal, LSO, Tower or whoever, it remains sadly lacking in meeting "my" personal preferences. If DCS meets your needs completely then that's great. But please don't argue against features other want from a flight sim which are not currently implemented. You already have part of what you need anyway. Just disable flight reports and subtitles and ignore the "comms" that does exist. Obviously if your arguement is for it to be done fully, or not at all, thats a different arguement entirely. Kind Regards, Gary

Hi, Under options/sound tab the "Pilot Speech" tick box is now inoperative. Ideally I just want rid of the pilot's voice - can this be done easily? I know Voiceattack provides that function but I really do not want to run VA just to achieve this if possible another way? Kind Regards, Gary

Despite a few niggles, I think the Harrier is an amazing module and well worth the money. Then you get a fast jet and helo in one package!! Regards, Gary

Could you not do this yourself? - at least partly. Update to open beta - save what you need (i.e. documentation and other non core files) - revert to stable and add in the documents and files you need from OB? Regards, Gary

Dear ED, you can't do more for staying at home! Thanks a lot
Gary replied to Tom Kazansky's topic in DCS 2.9
My thanks too. Well done ED. Regards, Gary -
"Everything is subject to change" you seem to forget ED are constantly saying this too. And just to be clear - my post was based on this being a jesture by ED in response to COVID-19 and people being stuck at home. Regards, Gary
-
You have that free choice.
-
If ED have made this decision as some form of COVID-19 response then they should be applauded in my view. I'm sure all early adopters would understand and support this move too. Regards, Gary
-
You can.

Now that's service!!

How funny would it be if Ed closed this thread now stuck on page 99!!

Great to see mention of this in the newsletter. Just curious why Case 1,2 & 3 are prioritised over land based ATC? I appreciate the Hornet is the ED flagship module but not everyone flies this. There are many existing and legacy users (of many years standing) of the other 14 or so modules that now have a longer wait to experience the new changes coming. I'm thrilled for the Hornet drivers of course but personally would have liked to have been able to benefit from the improved ATC stuff sooner rather than later! Regards, Gary

Just type "Falklands" into the user file search. I've tried a couple which were really good. Regards, Gary

Bit of a punt on my part but seems patern altitude is 1500ft and the max APP / DEP is listed as 2000ft - so at or below 2000ft but not lower than 15000ft? Confirmation or education if I'm wrong would be most welcome? Regards, Gary
