  1. Keep up the good work, Milan. Patiently waiting for May. :)
  2. Great deal on it! You will not be disappointed!
  3. Love the way you've set that up in the closet. That's ingenius! +1
  4. My ATI HD7970 (3gb RAM) doesn't break a sweat and pushes well over 60 FPS with all settings maxed out in every single game I've thrown at it. I'd imagine a last gen Nvidia 670 or the new 770 would have no issues, either. I wouldn't suggest going with anything that has less than 2 GB of vRAM, however.
  5. Tom's Hardware has an excellent review on the AoC, and to be honest that review sold me on it, along with the price-point. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/aoc-q2963pm-ultra-wide-review,3591.html It scored as high as many of the more expensive displays and I can see why. I believe it uses the same IPS panel as the LG equivelent. Check Anandtech for other reviews of similar displays. They have a review of the Asus MX299Q, which looks almost identical to the AoC in appearance, as well. I've not had the opportunity to see the Dell or Asus models you've pointed to but from what I can tell most of the 29" Ultra-Wide screens, use the same or similar IPS panels. Edit: if I get time tonight, I'll post some shots but there are several youtube videos comparing 2560 X 1080 to 1080P in games - just do a search on youtube for 21:9, for example:
  6. I've tried a multimonitor config and was very unhappy with it. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. There are constant configuration headaches, and the sacrafice in performance just isn't worth it. Surround screens also tend to induce nausia if you're prone to motion-sickness. My suggestion would be to save your money and put it towards one of the new IPS UltraWide screens, like the AOC q2963Pm, 29" IPS Panel. I picked up one of these and for me it is perfect. It gives you a wider field of view, without the dramatic performance trade-offs, or configuration woes, so you'll spend more time playing and less time trying to get your games to run in surround mode. Most of todays games support the 21:9 (2560 X 1080) ratio natively. Another more expensive option is to go with a 2560 X 1440 display, like the Dell U2713HM. I tried a single 40" LED TV as my primary. While the immersion was nice, the ergnomic issues it presented, I could not overcome. I then tried 3 1080P screens, but between the motion sickness, annoying configuration headaches and the horrible framerates, even on an ATI 7970 - I just couldn't stand the FPS dropping to 10 - 15 during large battles. I finally settled on the AoC q2963Pm and could not be happier. Hope you find a solution you are just as happy with. -Mack
  7. I would like to caution folks to consider seriously the issue of eyestrain and ergnomic issues, when utilizing large screen tv's for gaming/flight sim use. Please be aware of these issues. Speaking from experiance here, as I purchased a 40" Sony LED screen, to use as my main display for DCS. I admit the experiance was quite immersive, however I started to get really bad migrains and neck pain, etc. I eventually traced this back to the bad ergonomic situation I created with the large display. I now have a 3 X 24" eyefinity configuration and my migrains are gone. Perhaps, I'm just more sensitive to the eye-strain & neck issues than other folks, but ergonomics should not be sacrificed for immersion. You could pay dearly for it, in the long run. Regards, Mack
  8. My sincerest sympathies to Jim's family, friends and colleagues. This is a very sad day for the flight-sim community.
  9. If it's an easter-egg they should replace the car model with the DeLorian.
  10. I couldn't find this reported and not sure if it's a bug or an easter egg?
  11. Maybe it's R2! Everytime I hear the spitfire whistle, I think LucasFilms used it for this: :D Sorry, for the OT. It seems to be one of those mysteries that may never be solved...
  12. As much as I love that video and I agree that DCS is amazing, I don't believe PeterP is an Alarmist and his intentions are only to improve this already amazing product, so... +1 for all of PeterP's suggestions. Alot of people that pick-up DCS, may be coming from MSFS background where multi-monitor setups are easy-peasy. Sadly it's anything but easy with the DCS series, in it's current form.
  13. Mine does it too... I haven't played with it much because I've found a few sweet spots on it where it doesn't happen. I think that pot doesn't hold position very well. Not sure if tuning the axis would help or not, haven't tried.
  14. Same issue with my ATI 7970, on Catalyst 12.4. Some occational black texture corruption, but it's so quick I can't get a screen cap of it. -Mack
  15. This is awesome! I've been looking for something like this for sometime, now. Excellent find. +1 for sharing! -Mack
  16. Hey Tom, I still find the seat rolls with turns, when using the export method. However I am loading the profile in the InteliVIBE control panel. I thought that was a pre-requisite to make it work in the first place so maybe I'm doing it wrong... :music_whistling: Try loading your A10 profile in the control panel along with the export mode.... works for me. -Mack
  17. Acemark, if you can get Helios working by itself with BS2, please post the export.lua file that you use to get helios working, and I'll modify it to work with InteliVibe as soon as I get the time.
  18. Glad the A10 one is working for you. Never had such issues with A10. Alot of trial & error, but I never ended up with any freezes. Just helios or ivibe or both wouldn't work sometimes... If I get time this weekend, I'll see if I can make one for BS2. -Mack Edit: G00dNight ----> I've never actually setup a Helios profile for BS2 as I wasn't flying it enough to need one. For some reason I can't get Helios to generate an Export.lua file for BS2. If you want to provide yours I can edit it to try and make it work with the TFS3.
  19. Hi Mark, Did you download and install the TFS3 Control Software from the TFS3 website? If so, proceed as follows: Copy the export.lua & config.lua from: "C:\Program Files\TFS3 Control Panel\Plugins\DCS\A10C" (Or blackshark 2, or whatever) To "C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A10C\Config\Export" (This assumes you installed A10 to it's default directory... could be different on your PC) Before starting your game, run the TFS3 Control Software and load the A10 or Blackshark profile (Depending on what game you're using). Make sure you leave this running in the background when your game is running. Also make sure the control slider for AudioSense is in the off position on the TFS3 control box. If you need to use AudioSense with other games and your headphones, you may want to try using the 1/8mm stereo jack y splitter that comes with the unit and plug your headphones into the one side of the split and the TFS3 into the other one. Hope this makes sense, Mack
  20. Sadly no, the landing gear doesn't seem to have much effect. I'm not sure if that is a function of the TFS3 profile in the control panel, or if it's something do with the lua export. Perhaps someone with more experiance with this system can comment on that... -Mack
  21. I've done it! Hey Guys! I've done it! I managed to get Helios and IVibe both working with the export.lua file. It took some disecting of the lua files, but I've finally got it working! It'd take forever to explain everything I had to modify, so I'm just going to provide you folks with a copy of my new lua file (see attached). Backup your existing export.lua file and rename this one to export.lua in your config/export directory of A10. WARNING - Don't let TARS or Helios overwrite your export file or you'll lose these settings. If you want to add TARS support, just add this line to the bottom of the file: dofile("./Config/Export/TARSExportA10.lua") FINAL WARNING - I haven't had time to completely test this so please use at your own risk. So far, I haven't had any issues but I've only flown with it single player for 10 mins... The TFS3 works much better for me using this method. I hope this helps someone, Mack Helios + iVibe.lua
  22. Okay, so to get it working via lua mode, it's quite simple. Just copy the config.lua and export.lua from your tfs3\plugins\dcs\a-10c warthog directory to your config\export directory in A10. Backup your existing files before overwriting. No need to modify either of them to get inteliVIBE working via the export.lua in this case. Then just open the TFS3 Control Panel and load the A10 profile. Fire up your sim and away you go. The GAU rattles your teeth. :joystick: I'm experimenting with the dofile command to see if I can get it to use multiple export files so Helios will function. -Mack
  23. As soon as I get time I'll replicate my settings and post how I did it. I did prefer the lua way, but again couldn't get helios to work with it. :( The tactile response did seem to be quite a bit better via lua export. I did try adding "dofile" to the end of my helios export lua and pointed it to the inteliVIBE export file, but this didn't seem to work, sadly. I may not be able to post my results for a couple of days, due to work. My apologies for the wait.
