Tactile Feedback System 3
MackTheKnight replied to PoleCat's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I did manage to make it work with the export lua, but at the expense of Helios which I'm not willing to part with in A10. The effects were better, and the GAU8 rattled my chair. But, I can't live without my helios so I'm back to the native intellivibe support until I can figure out a way to make the lua export work with Helios & iVibe at the same time. No luck, so far... -Mack -

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, Tom. I tried the suggestion you posted before, but Helios stopped working as a result. I've now set both: EnableExportScript = true intelliVIBE = true Now Helios and iVibe are both working. I'm not sure this is correct but it works so I guess I can't complain. Overall I'm pretty impressed with the whole thing. The build quality is very impressive and it is definately more effective then the old BK2, I was using. I think the support in DCS needs some refinement, but I imagine it'll get there eventually. For example, the seat doesn't react much when firing the GAU-8, unless I turn audio sense up a couple of notches. That has a few unwanted side effects. Quite happy with my purchase. +1 for your help. -

Just got it, installed & setup. Took a bit to get it all figured out. I am stumped on one thing though. Has anybody been able to make this work in conjunction with Helios? Without using AudioSense? If so, would you mind providing your export.lua file to help me figure mine out? Thanks, Mack -

From what I understand from the info on the site and what Polecat has said in these forums, using the system with the lua exports is the intended way and most effective way for the unit to function properly. Without that, it's just another butt-kicker gamer, albeit, a more effective one. :)All it does is amplify the bass output of your sound card if you've got it setup that way. I'll post back here as soon as mine arrives and I get it setup. By the looks of my tracking info it should be here by the end of next week. -Mack P.S. - word to the wise... don't search for iVibe on youtube. The results are... scary. :megalol: -

So did anyone that ordered one of these recently, ever get a response on the order request? I never got a response or anything. Tried contacting Craig but no response for a couple weeks now. -Mack -

Image retention is going to be an issue with a plasma display. Anything that stays static on the screen for long, will leave a shadow behind. I speak from experiance as I tried using a PS3 on a plasma. Thankfully the resulting shadow of the map display in GTA wasn't permanent and slowly faded away with time/use watching movies. Which I guess is really all the plasmas are intended for... movies/tv. Still can't beat them for their deep black-levels and superior colour saturation. -Mack

SSD Drive (Worth the expense?)
MackTheKnight replied to trek's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Are you saying you're using an SSD drive for Cache to 2 mechanicals in RAID0? I didn't even know that was possible. Very cool though! -

Hi PeterP, (Sorry to hi-jack this, OP) You've got me curious about your touch-screen model # as I'm sorely disappointed by the fact that the Acer screens I have, do not have the ability to make a custom calibration for the touch panels. So if possible, could you please provide the model # off your touch-screen so I can do some digging locally for one? :) Thanks, Mack -

SSD Drive (Worth the expense?)
MackTheKnight replied to trek's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the info. That explains why I haven't had any noticable issues with my setup. I'm running two Corsair Performance 3 128 GB drives in RAID0. They use the Marvell SATA 6 Gb/s controller and according to ATTO, they're running just as fast as the day I installed them. Makes me happy that I went the Marvell route this time. I had a couple of early gen OCZ Agility drives (Sandforce) and one of them failed, so I changed over to Corsair to give them a shot. OCZ replaced the drive with a Vertex 2 that I now have as a cache for my mechanical but I don't have much faith in OCZ's reliablity as a result. In any case, it's always a good idea to keep a regular backup routine in place. No telling when a drive may fail (Mechanical or SSD). -
SSD Drive (Worth the expense?)
MackTheKnight replied to trek's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, sorry. I wasn't arguing his point. TRIM doesn't work in RAID, it's a sad fact that will hopefully be addressed by the next RST drivers. But GC does work, if you leave the machine idle at the login screen for a while. At least that's the case with the Corsair and OCZ SSD's I use. -
Another upgrade advice thread

I'd go with option 2 and make sure the 1155 mobo you choose, supports sli/crossfire for future expansion. Then get an ssd prior to another video card. :-) -
SSD Drive (Worth the expense?)

Druid, Even in raid0, GC still works fine. So long as you let your system idle for a couple hours a week maintenance is pretty easy. Svedan, I suggest the Corsair Force GT SSDs. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=744446&Sku=C13-8122 -
