DCS used by Real World F-18 pilot Carrier Ops Instructional vid
Mad_Max2 replied to JIMJAM's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Nothing beats hearing it straight from the horses mouth. Guy knows his stuff, hope he keeps making videos! -
Exactly the answer I was looking for. Thank you!

I remember seeing a thread on this not too long ago, but I can't for the life of me find it. Have noticed that in order to get the course line correct I must adjust it from the heading it "should" be. For example I set a carrier traveling at 0 degrees, double check F-10 map in mission and heading is 0 degrees. Set course line to 00 degrees and it's off by several degrees. I get the same results with land based airfields as well. I didn't catch an answer to this on the thread I saw, but I did see mentions of magnetic north vs. true north (or something like that) causing the issue. Is this the case, or is it WIP? Really any info on this would be helpful

I'm with ya on this. I was hoping Wags would continue to use the mini update section to give us bits of information on what they're working on. He did post yesterday in that section about the pylons being removable in the next update though, so it might pick back up. Judging by the first patch, ED is hard at it. Wouldn't be surprised if there is an up tick in info being relayed after this initial release/bug squashing period. I would also suggest going to Wags profile and viewing his posts. You can gather a lot of information fast rather than trying to find it randomly in the forums.

I believe they will too. Squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Right now BS2 is 49.99, is what your getting right now worth 49.99? I couldn't answer that honestly because I haven't used it since the lighting and AP went to crap (around 2.2ish). Likely won't use it again until I see updates in the change log. Personally I don't need it to be as "pretty" as new modules, but functional again would be good. The black shark is a great module, but it's broken. As long as it's being sold on the store I would expect at least functionality updates to keep it operable in DCS. If not then it's a slap in the face, especially to those just buying it now.... at $50.

If only the Hornet could carry the 97! lol those things are ridiculous. Your right though, no other cluster munition packs even close to the same punch.

Had the same thing. Kept clicking to change WP# and it would stay at 0. Switched HSI to Right DDI and its on WP5 (I'm assuming the clicks changed the waypoint, just not on the lower screen, and showed when I switched screens.) Bug/WIP.

Thanks for the reply, idk why I didn't think to open a training mission in the first place. Set Command (816) worked for me. Set trigger to mission start. Activate on group alive (i'm sure others would work), and then "Set Command (816)." =Active pause at start.

I haven't really tested the Hornets bombing interval yet, however I have experienced what your describing in the A-10. Would go to bomb runway full of targets and bombs would stop half way even though the interval set was supposed to cover it. It was almost as if there was a max interval because it worked fine at lesser distances. I don't know if this is a bug or if there is a limit to how large an interval you can have. Will have to test in Hornet to see if it's the same as what I experienced in the A-10.

Thanks for the reply! I had a feeling it was WIP. Seemed odd to me to have 1 format and that's that lol.

Yeah I'm having trouble with this as well. JTAC calls out a position in decimal format, but the hornet takes it in regular Lat Long "degree" format. I cheat, use F10 to find enemy, then hover over to get Lat Long that I can enter as a work around. I would imagine there's a way to change the format in the hornet. Or maybe JTAC still needs work to accommodate the hornet. Idk. Not a huge deal, just would like to know if I'm doing something wrong/missing something.

If you check out the change log you'll see Normandy and WWII assets got a pretty substantial update, as well as a pretty hefty hornet list. 12gb here, all depends on what you got.

Ask and you shall receive! Had to make a few minor changes to get it to work with the C model instead of the F super hornet, but all in all pretty close. Will upload asap!

Was wondering how to get a mission to start in active pause. Similar to how some training missions start. Thanks in advance!

Your best bet is going to be in the Hornet Mini-Update thread. Now that it's in EA it will likely have what is being worked on in the updates.

 this... I was under the impression that the red dispense button on the side wall was the button. Didn't know dispense switch aft had a function outside of bypass. Works just how she's supposed to now! Thanks for the help guys! Edit: Last page of EA guide... double ..

No matter what program I use (preset or custom) it fires off all 30 flares and 40 chaff. Am I correct in having MAN(#) as the mode selected in order to use the presets? For example preset 5 is 1chaff, 1flare, 2rpt, 1int. change mode to MAN5 as shown under ALE-47 on the EW screen. Press dispense and get the results stated above.
-
That's the way it's behaving so you might be on to something. Only problem is I don't see any other dispense button lol. Bypass works, I can pop off single flares and chaff with the hotas all day long, I just cant find out how to run a program that doesn't blow through all my cm's.
-
Having trouble getting flare and chaff to follow the program selected. Dispenser bypass switch= ON ALE-47 is set to MAN 1 ( have set to both S/A and auto to test but as I understand it, only MAN# dispenses the selected program) Press red dispense button and it fires off all 30 flares and 40 chaff. Even doing a custom profile of 1 flare, 1 chaff, rrt 1, int 1, ends up with same result Im certain that im not pushing ECM JETT, but I feel like that is what is happening. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Not certain I'm doing it right, but also not certain it's not a bug lol so thought I'd check.

Lookin good! You guys are killing the realistic liveries, so I decided I'd throw some fictional in there! Should be uploaded in next batch.

I doubt there will be a campaign for the Hornet until all/most the systems are available. Have you tried the mission builder? You can create plenty of scenarios with this alone. If you really want to have a campaign though, making it yourself in the mission editor is the only way right now. I'm sure others will be posting their missions in the user files section as well.
