  1. I didn't spend much time on here without Track IR. I would assume those saying you get used to the hat switch style of viewing are correct, however, in my mind the goal is to get as close to the real thing as possible. Being able to move your head in real life to move your head in game goes a long way in achieving this. You can adjust the motion to be exactly how you want it to be. Unless your thinking VR, I wouldn't suggest anything less than Track IR. With practice you'll be able to padlock targets (real padlock, not the in-game padlock mechanic/"cheat") and maneuver without letting them escape your sight.
  2. What exactly triggers the Home Fuel warning? I've had it go off with roughly 8-9,000 pounds of fuel left, and not that far from the carrier ~20-30nm out. Even if it thinks I'm going back to the initial point of the carrier at the start I would still have a ton a fuel left. Doesn't happen all the time, but considering it's the topic of discussion here, I figured I'd do a little investigating.
  3. TCN still runs with 0% fuel ... Good to know! Ground power maybe? lol
  4. Use statics, and make sure it's the Lot 20 Hornet and not the old AI model. Also, when doing this on carrier decks (linked to carrier) it will change to cold start wings folded model to represent how they would be on deck. Uncontrolled parks the jet, but the jet will not have the covers and ladder down.
  5. I thought this was a joke. Nope, that's the legit plan. Marines man... God bless 'em.
  6. Interesting indeed...good ol' legacy hornet got something up her sleeve?
  7. I've noticed this a couple of times as well in the past. Haven't kept track of it well enough to be useful in a potential bug squash but you might be on to something. That being said...SOME of those times I was left scratching my head about why they ran out of fuel was due to their tanks being shot. Check the tracks, if they got a big hole in 'em, that might be the problem lol. If not, then yeah, I would say something is wrong.
  8. Fair enough, thanks for the response!
  9. Any idea on how these pods are interacted with in the cockpit. The Hog spoiled me by allowing almost exclusive operation through HOTAS, while the Harrier requires a lot of MFCD button pushes. Just curious where the Hornet is on the spectrum of user friendliness when it comes to TGP's.
  10. Park a vehicle right in front of the tanker. Keeps it from moving.
  11. Options>>Controls>>Axis commands>>Thrust In the joystick column> add> move the axis you want. ** the attached pic might help more. Keep in mind I have a HOTAS so I have mine set under the throttle column. It sounds like your throttle is on your stick, so it will be in the respective column.
  12. lol... love to see where this discussion goes when jet wash is introduced. AAR difficulty has been a dead horse getting beat since it was introduced to DCS. If anything I see it getting harder in the future...not easier. AAR imo is an "end game" type activity in DCS. For those well versed in their aircraft of choice. Not meant to be easy by any means.
  13. 1. It's up to you. Both radios are the same/ have the same presets. The two radio setup is simply so you don't have to cram all coms on to 1 radio, which would likely result in you missing info. I personally keep one on my flight frequency, and use the other one freely, switching between ATC, AWACS, Tankers, etc as needed. It doesn't matter which one you set to what 2.Open the mission in the editor to find out what they are. They should have been listed in the briefing but sometimes editors forget.
  14. This. The "cheats" in the options menu are actually more suited for training than actually playing out the game with them always on. I prefer full boar sim mode myself, but I have found "immortal" to be a good tool practicing ACM/BVR engagements. With this you can practice notching and closing to the target, if you get hit, keep a mental note and continue on to merge so you can practice the rest of the fight. Combine this with Tac View and eventually you will get good/learn enough to turn it back off. More fun when the threat of dying is there imo, but don't be afraid to practice using some of the special options to help.
  15. I hear what your saying. My understanding of Alpha/Beta is: Alpha: Not feature complete, has bugs Beta: Feature complete, has bugs Some DCS products can be out of EA, more or less bug free, yet not feature complete. Nature of the beast.
  16. If Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit from 2011 was still being sold for $50 (like the shark), then yes I would expect the bugs fixed. Imagine if you just bought it today? You'd expect that $50 investment to at least be functioning right? Do what you will with textures, but bugs gotta be fixed if your your still supporting/selling it.
  17. Agreed! One of those things I didn't even know was missing, but now that I've seen it, it's a must. Brings the pilot/co-pilot to life.
  18. IMO ED needs to hammer out assets/ ME improvements after the Hornet. Belsimtek along with 3rd party devs can keep the aircraft coming in the mean time. Not saying ED isn't working on these things now, I just think it's time to bring them to the forefront and really hit it hard. My 2 cents
  19. -Germany/Poland or Poland/USSR for WWII... Would even be down for a Pacific WWII theater. -The usuals.. Vietnam and Korea... Have the planes, just need the maps. Iraq/Kuwait... Largest air operation in history... gotta have it! Afghanistan would be Hog heaven. Hypothetical Map? how about a chunk of China. Would allow fictional yet believable scenarios. Generic Map? Open water with a few scattered Islands. Island could house objectives/defenses, and the open water would be a naval aviation/warfare paradise. Plus the benefit of being vague enough to accommodate all different coalitions. (I can see the Falklands being used this way to an extent.)
  20. USA & Russia vs. USAF Aggressors. Should allow any plane on either side.
  21. Finger four is the tightest formation I have found without altering anything else. If this isn't tight enough then you'll likely have to do something like what tmansteve suggests.
  22. LOL! I'm kidding. Idk why the pole isn't there. I couldn't resist making an F-Pole Maneuver joke.
  23. Devs kept hitting it so they took it out in what was called the "F >this< Pole Maneuver"
  24. I understand what happens if I don't touch my bindings, problem solved monday. I'm simply asking what happens if you DO. Will it stay? or be wiped after Hotfix? I've rebound one ac for the weekend, and would be willing to rebind a couple more, but would like to know if I'm causing myself more headaches down the road before doing so.
  25. If I were to rebind an aircraft to fly over the weekend, will these settings stick, or be wiped on Monday?
