Unveiling the VKB TECS Throttle Control System
Fusedspine33 replied to UIV's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
MDee I see you may not be aware of this thread for VR controllers. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=218861&page=25 Eabile if you are ready to buy now The warthog is available, this is a ways off. No one hopes VKB or Virpil will provide meaningful competition to the TM monopoly more than me, but until both have a robust manufacturing and distribution pipeline they are hit or miss on availability of product. -

Any experience with Samsung Odyssey Plus & DCS yet?
Fusedspine33 replied to fargo007's topic in Virtual Reality
Bun, there is nothing quite like VR. Once you experience it, it is hard to go back to a flat screen. Quite a few folks do enjoy the Rift with a 1070 card. It’s just one of those chicken or the egg endeavors to upgrade on a budget. If you don’t have a headset yet maybe a used Rift is a better choice for a first upgrade. They are 1080p and would be easier to run on your card and you get to experience VR. Is the Rift perfect, No, but it is awesome. Does it have SDE, Yes, but I don’t see the room I am in. Does it have God rays, Yes, but I only see them when booting up certain space simulator. Is it all worth it to me, Oh! yeah. My hooked moment came when I was doing a tailslide and looked out the side window just as I started sliding backwards. I actually reached out to grab a hold of a canopy handle to steady myself. I Immediately felt sheepish, verified I was alone and was not witnessed and then had a good laugh at myself. Once bitten by the VR bug the pursuit of better will be ever present, what will make it a perfect experience? 1080, 1440, 4K, 8k? 1080ti, 2080ti, 3080ti, 4080ti? Well...isn’t that what makes it a great hobby. We have come a long way and it just keeps getting better. Anything worth doing is worth the sacrifice to do it well. -

Bun, From reading lots of threads, my take is that you would do better to spend 500-600 on a GTX 1080ti, then save again to upgrade to a headset with 1440 panels. There is nothing wrong with your 1070, it is just asking a lot of it to run twin 1440 displays. There is another thread here comparing 1080, 1080ti and 2080ti cards. Do the 2080ti’s do better than 1080ti, yep just not dollar for dollar better. The 2080ti only bests the 1080ti by 30% for twice the price. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3687461#post3687461 Lots of info has to be taken into account for what you like, what’s not on the table to compromise and what is. Only you can decide what’s going to meet your expectations. Some folks swear you have to turn off MSAA others wont live without some being on. Some can live without shadows others can’t. What’s the minimum frame rate you can stomach in vr? My take may or may not be right for you and I am sure there are many others that will roast my post for the opinion it is. LOL. Just remember it’s a hobby that is supposed to make you smile. -

Right stuff, What’s your suggestion? Bodnar seems to offer quite a bit of flexibility. I am open to suggestions.

I got the info from Wikipedia. It looks like the Wiki list takes into consideration the RAN A-4G for 4-AIM-9, but not the A-4K on the GBU. Not sure if the list depends on Douglas design, construction and delivery or is an incomplete list. It looks like the K model was the result of an upgrade independent of Douglas. Going to try to post a pic two ways. It never seems to work using the image button. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1NSETJ2EuSpRDXMox5iu7BiFjrWT8Pp8Y/view?usp=drivesdk

Beppe, thanks for the historical post on the K model.

I am hoping Merker will release an A/G weapons video before release.
-
Merker said he would be releasing a video on A/G capabilities, I am confident he will. I am pretty sure the team right now is focused on getting this mod to us. The finish line is in sight for them and us. I am looking forward to the November update and his next video. These releases always feel like Christmas as a kid, you see the presents under the tree, but have to wait and each day gets longer and looonnger and loooonnngggeeerr. Lol. My hat is off to this dedicated group, they did this out of a passion that is enviable, and admirable. They dealt with tragedy and continued to march forward to bring this mod to life. Thank you all!

Brun, any chance you could provide a link to the brass inserts you used. I am having trouble finding inserts with the shoulder that is shown on the fittings page you provided. Thanks

I had no doubt this would get fixed. Brun initially mentioned x and y might need interchanging on some printers. If we could get the x,y and z values as designed we can verify/input them. Thanks for your rapid response Brun, two thumbs up.

Just tried to send it to shapeways and it shows up there as .18 cm as well.

I inquired to TM this week about the F-18 handle and got a terse we have no information. Two E3s and no handle is a bit frustrating. TM customer communications is sorely lacking by today’s standards. It’s a handle and switches to attach to an existing base, not sure why they make this so hard. From day one they seemed to imply additional handles would be offered.

Change.org Petition for F-4E and Forum Poll
Fusedspine33 replied to MemphisBelle's topic in Chit-Chat
Sorry to hear of the postponement on the F-4 for those fans. I will buy the F-4 when it comes out. I look at DCS as a way to experience a wide swath of the history of military aviation. We have some amazing and iconic aircraft to fly. No matter the order of release it’s just good to know that there are more aircraft coming. I would love to see more Redfor aircraft but understand some entities don’t want their aircraft simulated. It’s hard to remember those external pressures that are put on ED especially if you live in the Blufor world. -

Subscribed, count me in for a pair. If I understand your request for input. Wired for the headset mounted camera/sensor sounds good, I have a cable to contend with for the Rift anyway. If you do go cabled please make it as long as the one on the Rift.- 3421 replies

With all the excitement for this mod. Maybe ED will consider allowing catapult hook ups for this type work/mod.
