Well, I can see why you don't like the non-blocking. Sorry Rift dropped this now. Kind of worried about knocking it off when shutting down. amazed at how fast you got it rendered.- 3421 replies

Miles, When I covered the camera I noticed no loss of head tracking and no loss of tracking with the controllers. The camera is there for a reason and I agree with others that I would prefer to not have it covered.- 3421 replies

Statistics is the art of making any set of numbers tell the story you want them too, LOL. It could still be a slight L shape with no deeper a projection than 3/8". I can see that the further the signal receiver is pushed forward the more the cone of reception is diminished to the left and right just not sure how much it would affect functionality.- 3421 replies

Miles, you have put a lot of thought into the Rift S cover as you always have with this project. Would it really make a difference to just mount it on the face of the unit? I haven't held the HMS but it seems like it is no deeper than 1 1/4" in depth.- 3421 replies

AU, Are there any pilot cues offered to the pilot in the F-16 or is it pure fly by wire? I read somewhere that the original transducer for the stick was changed to allow a bit of stick movement as transitioning pilots didn't like the total lack of stick movement. -

was wondering the same thing. Can I DS tape a 3/4" x 3/4" block of wood to the front of the faceplate or would that move the sensor to far forward?- 3421 replies

Miles and group, I finally got to get it all set up and covered the top camera, I didn't see any degradation of head tracking or contact with the new hand controllers. There is a reason the camera is there, but it isn't readily apparent. The clarity and lack of SDE are amazing, It may not have the specs of the O+ or Pimax, but it has none of the headaches getting it to run and it just looks great, well worth the upgrade to me. Can't wait to try it with PointCtrl.- 3421 replies

Miles, The manual states "The headset has five wide angle sensors that power Oculus Insight, which precisely tracks your environment and instantly translates movements into VR." The cameras are used for 6DOF positional tracking for the headset.- 3421 replies

Why my CM2 grip paid on 17-March is not shipped yet?
Fusedspine33 replied to mdee's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I pre-ordered on 3-18-19 and took a look at their site after seeing this thread. I was very surprised to see the CM2 grip showing as in-stock. I sent an email asking for an update on when they expected to ship my order, they responded stating it would be shipped this week. Would it have shipped this week if I hadn't asked? I really wish they would put as much effort into fixing the purchase experience as they do to developing new products. My purchase experiences have not been very positive. I was there for the web store crashing during the initial CM2 launch and had it in my cart only to have it sold out of my cart before I could connect to the payment page. They didn't include the CM2 in the next restock and basically forced us to preorder using bank transfers which have high fees for international purchasers. I really want to support this new company, that is actually making new products, but they work to make it difficult. -
it is definitely worth the wait!

Love to see an F-18 3d print mod for the warthog stick.
-
No doubt sim racing is a bigger market, not just PC but PS4 and x-box. The consoles can’t really do flight simulation, yet. Virpil has managed to build a factory and expand their product line so opportunity exists. TM makes add-on wheels so they recognize consumers want choice. Their entry into a saturated field of rudders at their chosen price point is curious. At this point, I am hopeful one of the community designers will offer an F-18 printed shell as a mod to the warthog. I would rather have less buttons and touch what I see in VR.

TM priorities are not with our side of the house. They focus on racing. Look at the size of monitor, level of dedicated cockpit and overall environment of both events and judge for yourself.

Propeller, I am not an engineer and based on your response you seem fluent in enineer-ese. To me realism and realistic have two different contexts. Your response illustrates what I was trying to address, in it you used Kilograms, I have used pounds all my life. Kilos has no more frame of reference than Nm to me. We have all probably picked up an apple or a bag of apples at a roadside stand. I have flown Pipers, Cessnas and Naval F-14 and F-18 simulators and felt control shake from stalls, increased back pressure from constant rate turns and the like. All of these cues that add to realism are currently missing and I look forward to adding them to the experience. I have no idea if what I experienced in the F-14 and F-18 sims was realistic but the stick forces added realism. -

Berniyh, my question was more to gain insight over what measurements actually mean. I am looking for realism not Hollywood. .4 to 4 is a significant statistical increase but I have no experience with any tools that measure Nn. What to expect from the increase was a question I wanted answered. I have no desire to get yanked around in my seat but don’t want a buzzing like a PS4 controller, especially for $1200. Hopefully the 13 apples helps other that are curious about what Nm “feels” like to help them decide if this is something they want to try. -

Miles, I can tell your a perfectionist and want to find ways to improve manufacturing process, speed, size and aesthetics with each batch, but we won’t see them after the HMD goes on. LOL - 3421 replies
