Uh, have I missed anything? What sort of support you think we have failed to provide?
-
Kosmosima was designed for more recent base models: Gunfighter I and II, and Gladiator Pro II. Making it backward compatible with other models is not a priority, as now we're focusing on TECS. There are still chances we make modern grips compatible with other base models, but it is not on the slate right now.
-
Exactly! :)

You know what, there are some people that lost their legs. Or ability to control their lower body. Car crashes, you know. Sport injuries. Shиt happens. Some of them are virtual pilots. They can't use pedals. We are happy that with our help they will be able to fly legendary plane without pedals. We are thinking about it, and it is a serious consideration. I see no point in this argument. VKB guarantees correct functioning of our grips on our own and on WH base, period. Case closed.

Please read the original text attentively: there is nothing there about the adapter. WH-mountable version with severe limited functionality due to WH's innate limitations - yes. (and the question was about it) Adapter - no.
-
:D It might be great but it is impractical. Adapter, as I clarified above, steals tons of resource from the engineers and production team. In simple words, it moves the remaining product line-up months back. Also, it does - as you very wisely noted - add to the height of the device. Plus, it complicates things in future: has anyone thought of firmware updates that would have to be written not for the grip itself but for a (grip+adapter) system? In simple words, adapter is something we would resort to only in very special cases. MCG got an adapter because it is a flagship grip, and it's being made in such numbers that investing in developing an adapter becomes affordable. Tomcat is a niche product inside a niche hobby. So let's just take it as a fact, there will be no adapter to magically make WH base as capable as Gunfighter.
-
There is one thing that isn't so obvious, so let me focus on it. Adapter is as much a product as a grip itself. Not as sophisticated but still it demands time to design and produce. Much time, I would say. No manufacturer is happy to mess with adapters. Plus, adapter adds to the height of the device. In simple words, we are not totally outruling the adapter, but the probability of it reaching the market is... pretty close to zero.
-
To the latest of our engineers' knowledge, F14 Tomcat was an aircraft made for right hand controlling... hence, no left hand versions are planned. All we can promise is this grip's correct functioning on our own and on original Warthog bases.

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
AeroGator replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Should be not out of stock any longer, or should be around the corner. Sea cargo arrived in Holland last Friday (I might be wrong by a day or two), then had to be cleared and delivered to EU storage. Ping Edward, if you are in a hurry - or better, don't, as he must be crazily busy sorting the orders right now. -

We find it not funny to help the community by once a year offering one set of joystick to some contest winner. Contest winners don't normally publish reviews or run around advertising our goods - for us it is merely a donation for the sake of development of the gaming world. Pity if this wasn't obvious. Please speak for yourself only. -

Extra Long Extensions and Warranty Issues Problem is, the base designers didn't want it to sit on the floor. Moreover, they didn't want it for a reason. This base is NOT designed to be used with stick extensions longer than the stock one, and it is also done for a reason. VKB of course cannot stop users from trying extra long extensions but please be advised: doing so will void the warranty. It will not void support, but all free repairs and replacements will go forever. -

I hate this situation as much as you do. As soon as we're back from holidays (which is within a week) we will accelerate new batches' production. Talking about pre-order, please contact your local dealer. AFAIK, pre-orders are not our (and our dealers') normal practice, but he might have some sort of name list or alike. Anyway, your local dealer is #1 place to get in touch with. -

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
AeroGator replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
WH bases are (sorry!) severely limited in comparison to Gunfighter bases. Putting a Kosmosima grip onto a WH base is a waste of a grip, simple and plain. WH bases doesn't support axes, and the number of buttons it supports won't allow you to utilize all Kosmosima functions, too. Forget LED indication: WH has no support for it, either. Question is then, why bother creating a grip as rich in functions as an MCG or a Kosmosima, if it is going to be mounted on such a base. WH grip is a great piece of gear, no argument here, but bases?.. -
Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
AeroGator replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Nope, the MCG design and ergonomics are all about modern air warfare, using it for spaceships would not be ideal. For the left hand there is a Kosmosima grip coming reasonably soon, which will be compatible with all currently produced VKB bases. -
Addtitional springs to Gunfighter Pro?? VKB?
AeroGator replied to dburne's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
It is safe. Bear in mind however that stronger springs are meant to be used in Pro version (with extension). Simply speaking, if you get used to the stronger springs on a desktop joystick and then decide to go with a Pro, you might find it funny that the resistance is way too easy for a longer lever. But anyway, go ahead and try. VKB's warranty is lifetime, why not :) Added later: if I remember it right, you are in fact using the Pro version. Then just go ahead. We wouldn't supply the #50 springs if it wasn't safe. -
Using MCG Pro grip + Blackbox w/o VKB base?
AeroGator replied to Alterscape's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
They should be coming! MCG as well as any other VKB product has its own controller. Controller is connected via a 3-wire interface to the base and the base is connected to whatever other devices you have in your setup. The Black Box allows connection of 8 different devices simultaneously. You can therefore directly connect the grip to the Black Box, this is good news. The not so good news is that you will have to make a cable to independently power the grip (normally the base would do that). But it is all doable and as you are obviously quite an advanced pilot with engineering background I believe it will take you less than one hour. Tell us when it is done! -
Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)

So far everything is according to plan. Fall will show the mockup version that we would be able to grope and fumble. It does not mean that the serial production will begin right there, but it is an important step to launching the product. After the mockup - and only if we are quite happy with what we have - we will look for testers who will get pre-serial units. (consider it a controlled leak). After the device is through with testing, and the flaws are dealt with, the launch will finally happen. However as it is still a leak, not an official communique, I will not at present stage answer any Qs about "how can I become a tester" :smilewink: It is out of design stage, the firmware for it is written but not tested, and right now we have no resources to do it - probably till early fall. MCG-TM is not the highest priority but we don't cancel it and will deliver it finally. -

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
AeroGator replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
The new space grip is called Kosmosima, however it works perfectly in DCS environment as well as in IL2 ann Warthunder. It is a universal grip that can be used with different bases. It will come in right and left hand versions; the left hand version will later get a helicopter version. Those who fly commercial planes sims will enjoy flying with the left hand grip as well. All clients are valuable. That's all I have to say on the issue. -
Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
AeroGator replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
We rescheduled it to coming fall - rescheduled - because we had to give priority to space warship controls. It is perhaps not particularly comme il faut to reshuffle the plans but sometimes it is inevitable. The demand for space controls happens to be higher, so the squeakiest wheel has to be greased first. We do sincerely apologize to pilots who are affected by this decision. It was not our intention to make part of them feel left behind, and we do not think this way. -
