Are people setting this to the same ipd you have in wmr portal?
-
I don't think you can use the Quest for DCS? It seems more like a stand alone headset.
-
It's not necessary because I feel like it doesn't really do anything different. I never set it in steam vr but I did set it in wmr settings.
-
Very strange but glad you figured it out. I don't have it installed in a different directory.
-
Are you using wmr for steam vr app that you downloaded from within steam in beta? It should be in beta. The motion reprojection indicator is how you would know if it is on. If you have those two lines uncommented then I'm not sure what else could be wrong. That's unfortunate when it comes to the dead pixel. Those are a no go on any device like this. Do a warranty exchange. The one I got doesn't seem to have anything so far. Been running fine for about a week but I'll have to test it out in dark environments to make sure I don't find anymore dead pixels.

I dunno I tried going back to the Odyssey after the reverb and no way I can't go back after seeing how clear everything is in the Reverb. Comfort is fine for me so far and the only caveat is wmr that is annoying. It's definitely made DCS much more enjoyable.

Interesting. What I started doing was just opening windows mixed reality portal and that would wake it up. Very odd behavior with these headsets. I guess it's one extra step.
-
That's good to know. I may contact them if I keep seeing that my headset won't turn on unless I replug it after I shut down the PC. Don't see why I need to have it plugged into the motherboard USB for it to wake up after a full shutdown of the computer. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk

Oh wow that's better support than I received. Did you specifically ask for the omen support group?
-
If you are in the US when you call say Workstation support as that's the group that deals with the pro model. Also ask for an advanced rma and see what they say. If you are within the 30 day return window it may just be easier to ask sales to give you a return label and then refund and they can order you another at the same time.
-
Yup this is the case. I talked to the product manager on Reddit and told him they wanted me to send in my original Reverb. He said that was incorrect. I may contact HP again though as this second one has no screen issues but it is not waking up once I turn my PC off if I have the headset plugged into the pcie usb card whereas the other one did that fine.
-
So weird that they are having people send them in. The whole thing with the pro was that they would be able to do advanced RMA's. It's even posted on HP's support blog forum. I never overclocked as I felt there was no need.

It turns out that if I plug my Reverb into my motherboard USB 3.0 port it I can shutdown the PC, turn the PC back on and I notice windows mixed reality portal boots up which means Headset wakes up if I pick it up. If I plug the reverb into my startek USB 3.0 card and I turn off the pc and turn it back on, the wmr portal does not pop up and the headset will not awake unless I manually open windows mixed reality app. This is weird, the last reverb headset had no issues waking up by being picked up when it was plugged into my pcie USB card. I know it's not an issue with the pcie card because I have a small USB extension that is plugged in there too and when I turn on the PC the light on the extension lights up meaning it provides power without issue once the computer is on. @Digitalvole are they sending you a replacement first? Or do you have to send yours in first ?

Yea this may have something to do with it. I'll try your suggestion next time.

I think my nose could be big but I just feel a lot of pressure on the forehead. What rhode mentioned could help out. I didn't even mess with the top strap because I wasn't sure what to do with it. Either way if it's not comfortable for you, no one can fault you for that.
-
Maybe that's why because I have it connected to the pcie usb 3.0 card? All my Mobo ports are full. That's unfortunate, yea the headset itself is a bit more comfortable than the Odyssey but I feel like overtightened it. In order to see if steam asw is working, there is also a line you uncomment it's motionreprojectionIndicator. Never tried the rift S but I know I always need to wear my contacts with any headset. The clarity is very big coming from the Odyssey.
-
I will have to keep an eye on this and if it keeps occurring maybe talk to the HP about this. Because the odyssey behaved exactly like you described. I also close out of the steam vr and wmr portal. The headset is fine if I pick it up after I close out of wmr and steam, it turns on. It just doesn't do this if I turn off the PC and turn it back on later.
-
That's odd that the pcie card would not wake it up for me unless I unplug it.
-
Oh if I'm not using it I just turn the PC off which turns off anything connected to the pcie usb card. But for me it seems anytime I turn the PC back on and I end up wanting to use the headset, picking it up doesn't activate the wmr portal. My Odyssey always remained in sleep mode even if the PC was on and anytime I would touch it, it would wake up and launch wmr portal.
-
Do any of you leave your computer off with the Reverb connected to it? I've been working like crazy lately and haven't had time to do any flying. Anytime I turn on my PC after it's been off, I have to unplug the reverb and plug it back in because it's unresponsive.
-
I'm not sure how they are getting yellowed edges at all. I also can see how you can forget to take the protective plastic covers off but that's if you maybe thought the lenses are supposed to be blue by default? I was using my Reverb last night but I noticed I had the PC turned off for a while so the headset would not come on after I picked it up and placed it on my head. The only way to make it power back up was to disconnect the clip and unplug the cable from the headset and plug it back in. Is this normal? I thought once your PC is on and you lift the headset, it should boot up wmr portal. It did do this after I unplugged and plugged it back in.
-
That's strange about the yellow edges on loading screen and the ddi's. I don't have that at all. Also, you should keep the resolution at 100% in steam SS assuming you are using the app you installed in steam (windows mixed reality for steam vr -beta version). If you don't have the beta version of the app then then you will have to mess with the resolution slider to get it close to native resolution. I do agree about the FOV. But I think my IPD is around 62-63 and after some time in the headset I don't see the sides of the headset anymore like goggles.
-
Not sure I noticed this myself. It did load the bar at the bottom and go from showing the jet I'm flying to the steam background back and forth. But yea I could see what you mean. I don't think it's necessarily an issue with the headset.
-
Is your reverb wmr settings in windows set to 90hz? I think the VR guide had some settings for it.
-
I haven't noticed any of that. I do have my preload radius maxed out in settings. I do need to perhaps tinker with the settings in dcs since I wore the Odyssey. I also have not had time to check my fps but it just flew smooth.
