  1. The latest update i got was one for the new version of edge. Today I was messing with the reverb in the cliff house and everything was very laggy. Not sure if anything was installed lately but it's never been like this before.
  2. 3080Ti should be fine. I have no issues with the reverb and a 1080ti now. I'm not running 200% or anything like that. But I have pretty high dcs settings, 100% steam VR and Pd 1.0. Either way the 3 series won't be cheap seeing how the stupid shroud costs $150 to make.
  3. Thanks for this.. bookmarked to look at later today!
  4. Can't wait for this campaign. I need something to get me back into DCS. Working from home all day now I barely want to touch my personal computer after I'm done. But I'm excited for this campaign! Totally need to get used to hornet AAR again after getting a new stick. It's gonna suck but I will try my best.
  5. I think I'll wait and upgrade my 1080ti first. The 3080ti or whatever it will be turns out will be a more expensive card this time around compared to what the 20 series were when they launched. I read an article that the shroud for the fan itself costs $150 to make for the 3080Ti so over all it's gonna cost much more. Heck with a card that big I may need a bigger case overall. Then I'll upgrade to the G2 once I put the G1 for sale. Otherwise I'm just collecting headsets at this point.
  6. Article doesn't go into much detail about the tracking. Seems like the extra camera won't help for head tracking according to the article but should help for controller tracking. I personally use a hotas and my mouse for any cockpit related manipulation.
  7. In the sense of the reverb, I have yet to see it drop price. I'm sure it will once the G2 comes out, or they may not even sell it anymore after that. I know oculus in general has been on sale now and then if you look around and the Samsung headset as well. The only thing you miss out on is if they can't get distribution right and HP ends up out of stock for a long time after initial preorders. Let's say it reviews really well and if you didn't preorder you wont get one for 2-3 months maybe more.
  8. I am still sitting on a original Odyssey which I was not able to sell. I have a reverb now and want the G2 but in my experience it's been hard to sell these headsets. The rift Cv1 was an easy sell though. I may just list it on the hoggit section of Reddit for cheap. Otherwise I'm sitting here with headset boxes in my closet.
  9. Really interested to see if the optics of the G2 are indeed better than the reverb. I do want to upgrade to one but I haven't had any issue with the G1 other than it getting a bit warm and sending the original back for a new one due to a dead pixel.
  10. Seeing as they are new lenses I wonder if the shape changed slightly. If you already have the inserts, it would be nice if they just fit. My company has pretty good eye care coverage so I get a new pair of glasses every year and I only pay about $60. Mainly because the rest of the budget goes towards my contact lenses. Right now I don't have the inserts so I will wear my contacts when I want to use the headset.
  11. Higher resolution would require more powerful gpu's which we don't have (yet). I'm actually interested in reviews though as much as I want to be one of the first few to get it. Now that the cable is attached to the headset, there shouldn't be any more black screen issues. I was also reading that they designed the G2 to have more space for folks that wear glasses. I was about to order the prescription lens inserts for my reverb but I guess now I may as well wait until I get this model to order the inserts. I do want to know more about the new lenses and how they differ. Soon we should probably have more preview/reviews.
  12. Hmm ok that connection site is weird. Now I see what you mean. Im considering preordering but trying to talk myself out of it. If I knew when the 3080ti would release I would want that first.
  13. So I went to the HP site to try and preorder despite telling myself I won't. Did any of you purchase the warranty? An HP employee on Reddit here is saying they separated the warranty to 1 year and 2 years to make it easier to understand and that before, the 1 year warranty was built into the price. I'm curious if this means it comes with no standard warranty but that can't be can it?
  14. Yea I want to order but I may be moving this fall so I can see if it will let me use a different shipping address. Oh boy now I'm gonna have three headsets if I don't get rid of the original Odyssey or G1 by that time.
  15. We still have to deal with windows wmr and steam VR so it's not a one stop shop like it is with oculus. The software side is still split between the two but seeing how it's also development by Microsoft with valve, it should have much better support going down the road. Many of the pitfalls people experience with wmr could be attributed to not knowing how to use the system. Everything is meant to be launched from within the headset wmr environment and then you don't end up with problems.
  16. I did miss the preorders. I do hope it's more comfortable than the G1. Without the mechanical ipd which I think I'm fine, I still had to adjust it pretty tight on my face to get the sweet spot properly for use. Better contrast is something I was looking forward to, although it wasn't the same sharpness in colors as my Odyssey, the G1 is fine for me so this would be a positive. Thank goodness for the longer cable. Let's hope it's not as thick this time. I'll be picking one up as soon as I can, although it won't be for a while I bet seeing howbitbmaybbe out of stock for some time. That's okay, I still want a 3080ti too and I may need to upgrade my case or mobo by then too. Looking forward to reviews from everyone that pre-ordered. Heck I still have the original Odyssey in the closet that I haven't been able to sell. Then it will be the G1 in there with it. I don't want to collect headsets !
  17. Looks like preorders for the Reverb G2 have started. $600 is what they are saying. https://www.roadtovr.com/hp-reverb-g2-announcement-pre-order-price-release-date/
  18. I have a 1080ti as well. How do you find performance with steam ss at 180%? I keep it at 100% and pd of 1.0 and found that it's acceptable. Can't remember if I have msa X2 or not.
  19. I want to avoid putting them up on a wall or tripod so if I could place them on my desk that would be ideal. I don't want to make extra holes and mount stuff in an apartment I usually move out of every year, just kind of an extra hassle.
  20. I wouldn't mind if they were small like the original oculus. But I would much prefer no additional base stations seeing how I only use the reverb for dcs once in a while and then usually that half life game.
  21. I'm interested in the next headset they are doing. It's gonna be a collab between HP and valve so it should be much better I hope.
  22. I have a 1080ti and a reverb. My dcs settings include PD at 1.0, everything except shadows set to high, draw distance all the way up, trees and clutters as you prefer, I use that slider to increase a little. Play around with the shadows, this seemed to have a performance impact for me where I could see it by moving my head around vs how smooth it was in VR. No msa but it's been a while since I've got back into dcs. No super sampling either in the dcs video settings. Steam VR I use the wmr for steam VR beta app and I have the steam resolution sampling at 100%. I didn't count fps but I mainly do single player stuff and I have not had any stutters or graphical issues. You will have to play around with the settings until you get the head movement as smooth and as quick as you prefer. You will notice if you increase the settings or the dcs PD that when you look around your movement will seem slower. So then go back and decrease sone of the graphical settings until it's "lighter" to move around and smoother.
  23. Another thing to try, go into bios and make sure you have your graphics set to use dedicated GPU not the onboard Intel graphics.
  24. Well that screen you posted shows you have Intel graphics and your signature says you have a 2070. So I'm guessing the program that checks if you have the right hardware is bugged?
  25. Good point I didn't even realize that. Maybe he's trying to run it on a different PC like a laptop? Not on his PC that is in the signature?
