So if you stay on stable for both what should the sampling slider be set to in steam? 100%?
-
I see amazon has the reverb in stock. It's not labeled as pro or standard. Not sure if it's the latest model either but when I order I'm going to do it through HP.
-
That makes me feel better. I'm in the process of finishing some other titles in my backlog then I'll get back into dcs and get a Reverb at one point. I'm assuming you are using steam vr beta if you are setting steam sampling to 100%? I have 32gb of ram too which I noticed helped in general for VR. You should follow the VR guide linked up above of the reverb. You should also adjust your steam VR super sampling to match native res of the reverb and keep dcs PD at 1.0.

I think it's safe to say if you have a 2080ti. Anything less I think you have to turn things down. There was one guy with a 1080ti who couldn't even use 100% steam sampling on the steam vr beta and had to go to 70% which isn't native resolution. Not sure why that was the case but performance seems to vary for everyone at least what I gathered from reading this thread.

This happens on my odyssey now. I believe this is a windows issue that I've seen mentioned before. I usually restart my PC or you can log out of windows and log back in. Unplugging the cable for me isn't as easy because I would need to get under my desk each time.
-
Same here for me for the original odyssey. I just reboot the pc and sometines that helps.
-
Depends on many things. Your system specs, your dcs settings, your steam settings and if you are running steam vr stable or beta? Also if you are supposed to wear glasses or contacts. Generally you should see a sharper image seeing how the resolution is supposed to be higher than the rift S.
-
As long as you order from HP you should be fine. Possiblity even that shopblt site too.
-
I bought my Odyssey from microcenter. Too bad they don't have the reverb there since I last checked.
-
I just got a $20 off coupon recently which is why I was curious. I recently bought my girlfriend a laptop from there which probably bumped up my points. Unfortunately they don't have the pro or standard listed or I would also buy it there as I live 10 minutes away.

Is there a price reduction for elite plus members? Was hoping to see if there was any difference.
-
Yea or at least provide a user friendly change log with the important changes. Wmr is by far the most unintuitive software for these headsets. You think they would integrate everything within windows and just let steam vr use those settings.
-
Nice! Glad you were able to figure it out. What setting did you change? I feel like we need a sticky thread with all these quick tips and info for the settings just for the reverb because it's such a pain to go through everything. Especially when there are different setting results for steam stable and beta.
-
Yea should have mentioned both. Do wmr for steam vr first since that's an app within steam and then uninstall steam vr. I've done this many times in the past when faced with odd bugs.
-
Maybe uninstall steamvr and reinstall it after a reboot? Something seems off with steam but this should automatically configure the headset fresh.
-
Do you keep the same percentage for application tab?
-
I'll be ordering one soon. It should arrive this week knowing how HP ships quickly. Do they let you return it for full refund if there are performance issues even if you open it? Im scared I'll have issues since I don't have a 2080ti.
-
How do you get the beta wmr? Isn't that just steam for wmr beta and steam vr beta? This is why I don't like wmr due to multiple interfaces interacting together.
-
That's odd hopefully others chime in if they experience the same.
-
How would the rift S compare with the original odyssey? I'm gonna order the Reverb but I'm also worried about performance so rift S would be my next option.
-
I too don't want to spend money on a 2080ti knowing well in a few months Nvidia will have something else that may be more worth it. I was surprised as well when I saw the performance results in the thread and saw many users with a 2080 which is very similar to the 1080ti. Most people in here have the 2080ti though. I guess it's no harm trying the reverb for myself and returning it to hp within the 30 days if performance is an issue. But then I won't know what to do. The index is pricey and clutters my area with the base stations and the resolution isn't as nice as the reverb. The rift S same thing for the resolution and I'm tired of my Odyssey being so uncomfortable to fly in for long periods. Is there that much of a bigger difference running reverb at 60hz vs 90hz at least in dcs? If it looks sharp and plays smoothly at 60 I think I'd be happy.
-
My specs and yours are very similar except the processor. This has me worried as I was planning on going to the reverb and don't want to fly anymore with the odyssey. I'd rather not go with the rift S though. Secoda has a 2080 and that's very similar to the cards you and I are running and he's able to get decent frame rates using steam set to sample at 188%. Do you think it's just your processor that's the big outlier? I too am not wanting to order a 2080ti for only like 25% overall improvement in all other titles I play on my PC.
-
Doesn't it also depends if you use steam vr or steam vr beta? I'm also thinking when I get my reverb that I'll uninstall wmr for steam vr app from within app. I don't think it's needed. I've stuck with stable steam vr and only tried the beta once with my Odyssey but I didn't like it.

Make sure enable VR headset in dcs settings is ticked. Once you plug in your reverb you can just put the headset on and open the desktop app from within the cliff house then double click your dcs shortcut icon. Or you can just start dcs normally and it will boot up steam vr and then put your headset on. Keep in mind that there is a windows bug where at least for me, launching dcs first then putting the headset on only worked once and not consecutively after closing everything down. Unless I used task manager to end steam vr processes or reboot the pc. But launching from within the headset I have had no issues. I am still using the original odyssey until the Reverb comes in.

Are you in steam vr stable or beta? I think the beta with 100% raises the super sampling too much. The stable one people are using like 188% in steam super sampling to get closer to the native reverb resolution. I also have a 1080ti and no plans on upgrading so this is sad news to hear. But I also remember seeing those with other 1080ti's here and the reverb and they mentioned it performed fine.
