  1. Hi All, I'm trying to make an airfield attack mission. The objective is to attack a group of parked aircraft. I'm having the following issues: 1. Attacks on static objects don't count for anything. I want to use static objects so that they aren't all sitting there with their engines running. I've got them assigned to the correct coalition (blue in this case) and I've got them in the correct nation. But when I shoot at them, it doesn't register any hits. So I've swapped them out for actual units of the same type but then they sit there with engines running getting blown up and that just sucks. 2. I've got at trigger point for a flight of four enemy aircraft to take off from the runway the moment a FAB-100M bomb hits anywhere inside the trigger zone. However, they don't spawn when I bomb that location. If I change the trigger point to my aircraft entering the zone, it works. 3. It takes half the length of the mission for my friendly units to start up, backtrack, depart and form up. Can I make them depart in formation of at least more quickly? As a result, if I just depart and leave them behind they fly low level to catch up and smash straight into hills. 4. I've got two random enemy aircraft just flying around at the start of the missions which I didn't place there and which I can't see in the unit list...how does that happen? I'd like to use simple Comms so I've got that set. I can communicate between members of my flight but not with the tower, why might that be? I want to make some MiG 15 missions for people to play and hopefully get the old MiG a bit more love but man it's taking me hours and hours to make a simple 45 minute mission. Please help me.
  2. Hi All, I'd really like to get into building missions and campaigns, particularly for some of the less loved aircraft like the MiG 15. Trouble is, I've watched the tutorials and just can't quite bring it all together to make my ideas work. What Id like to build is this: You are a North Korean recruit who takes part in a modern conflict (potentially as a Chinese ally fighting against Japan and US for example). I'd use the Caucasus map as a kind of make do Korea and the campaign would ideally give the player the ability to change aircraft type. I figured this type of scenario would work from an authenticity perspective because North Korea have a large fleet of some of the older MiGs (or Chinese versions) and also the newer MiG 29 so their use in a modern conflict would serve as an interesting scenario and the assets in game would fit too. I figured the first few missions could have you training in the MiG 15 before graduating to a MiG 21 or MiG 29 unit. Of course you could just use the MiG 29 or whatever aircraft you have from the outset but I don't know how to make this an option in the campaign. Missions would be based around recon and ground attack for the older aircraft and air to air for the more modern ones. Is this feasible or is it beyond the scope of campaign building? What are people's thoughts on this idea? I feel like I'm missing out on half the joy of DCS by not taking part in mission building but it's just so daunting.
  3. What’s everybody else’s thoughts on the spin characteristics or even just the stalling for the MiG 15? I did some testing before and the stall seems really benign, very little tendency to wingdrop. With low speed, full rudder, full rear elevator and even ongoing use of aileron after the stall, the aircraft barely spins. Once it is in the spin it must be held in the spin, letting go of the controls results in the aircraft recovering itself in only about 2 revolutions. This doesn’t seem consistent with the real MiGs reputation.
  4. A poster in a different thread said they have no issues when using old Nvidia drivers (I'm now using 442.19). I have an approximate 360% improvement in performance. There's still a bit of an FPS drop with the radar on but it's not too bad.
  5. You win this thread Brown Floyd, at least for me that's made a huge difference (360% improvement in performance). Fingers crossed it doesn't wreck my performance of other games I play but the MiG 21 is flyable again. Cheers
  6. I run MSAA on 4x for stable and open beta, get very good FPS on stable with some drops and alright-ish FPS on beta with massive gamebreaking drops. System: i5 6600K CPU 3.5Ghz 32GB RAM Geforce RTX 2060 Super 500GB SSD
  7. Recently changed from release to open beta. Open beta appears to have a bug where sound effects associated with high G occur when there is no G-loading. I had repeated sound effects of losing hearing and ringing ears when flying straight and level. It's very odd.
  8. I also saw that imacken. I don't think I had that on release version but it jumped out at me straight away when I changed to beta a couple of days ago.
  9. I'm also having large FPS drops since I changed to open beta. With exact same system settings between release and beta I am experiencing approximately 30% reduction in performance (sometimes higher) when doing the same missions on open beta. I am using TrackIR. I've tried deleting fxo and metashaders but it doesn't appear to have made a difference. Quick question though, whats the difference between metashaders and metashader2 folders? Can anybody recommend anything else I can try before I go back to playing on release version?
  10. I'm glad this is such a common issue. I just changed from release to open beta because the MP is pretty much non-existent on release version. With the exact same systems settings, open beta is just unplayable in terms of performance. I'm getting a number of other minor bugs which do affect my enjoyment somewhat but that's to be expected with open beta. The difference in performance between release and open beta is huge. Stupidly, I uninstalled stable version before testing open beta...and now I'll have to redownload stable all over again. Multiplayer is not worth it if the game is unplayable performance wise. Please don't bring this over to release version.
  11. Thanks Draconus, that's fair enough. I'm happy to wait. I'm periodically attempting to re-download the beta (because the multiplayer is much more active on beta) in the hope ESET have made adjustments and it no longer detects an issue.
  12. As I said, each to their own. I have made my choice, I'm going with my AV. I've got two purchases I'm holding off on pending a resolution to this issue. Hopefully ED submit the files causing the problem soon and if they're safe then the AV will let it through. True about stable version but what happens when stable is updated to the open beta build and the AV picks up the files there?
  13. I agree with Speed-of-heat. It's the publisher's responsibility to make sure their product is not running into issues like this. Each to their own but I don't intend to turn off protections. If Eagle Dynamics are aware of the issue, then they can submit the file to the affected AV provider and if it's assessed as safe, the AV provider will let it through. I wouldn't suggest turning off your AV just so you can play a game, even trusted publishers can be compromised by external parties.
  14. I'm having massive framerate drops too, mine gets as low as 9, I just gave up in the end. I can't turn wake turbulence. I untick the box and I still have wake turbulence. So went back and ticked it, also wake turbulence. The option doesnt seem to do anything. The thing for me is, I upgraded my PC from a GTX 970 and 16GB RAM to an RTX 2060 super and 32GB RAM but the performance is worse than it was prior to the upgrade. I've got latest drivers. I had framerate issues prior to upgrading my PC but nothing this bad. To see such a significant drop in performance after spending a huge amount of money sucks. Not taking a dig at you Reflected, I really like this campaign, you've done an awesome job with it and I hope to come back to it. However, these type of issues come up time and time again with DLC campaigns (and some other content too). It's at the point for me now having bought several DLC campaigns only to find I can't finish any of them because inevitably I run into a gamebreaking problem. I have had the F86 Sabre and the Yalu campaign on my wishlist since it became available (the MiG 15 too) and with this sale you'd think I'd rush to buy it but there's just so much content that seems to work one day and not the next so I haven't bought them.
  15. Hey again, Has anybody had a response from ESET on this issue?
  16. Same here, but it only occurs on Open Beta, release version is no problem. I'm also using ESET. I've just opted to uninstall the beta and remain on release version. I believe ED are aware of the issue, hopefully they are submitting the file for analysis. I won't be switching off my AV or making allowances. If ESET are happy with the file, they'll let it through. Until that time, no open beta for me.
  17. Nice, got that. It's still downloading 61gb of data. That seems excessive given that when beta moves to stable branch it's nowhere near that size. I thought the difference was more in the region of the 4gb of deltas it initially downloads. That's one thing I'll give steam, you can just switch between the two no worries. I'm glad I'm not using steam but yea I don't have that kind of space on my SSD. It'll fit but there won't be much space afterwards.
  18. Oh ok, will it redownload those files and delete the old ones after install or is it going to take up another 61gb of space?
  19. Thanks for the rapid replies. I ended up using CMD prompt. I just couldn't figure powershell out. Fingers crossed I find a little more multiplayer on open beta, Stable is pretty much dead. Edit: ok so rather than just downloading the additional/different files like I thought it would, it's now doing a 61gb download and really filling up my tiny SSD.
  20. Hey guys, When I go to open the command prompt I have to do it I only have the option of using Powershell in the bin folder. If I type .\DCS_updater.exe update @open beta it just runs the updater.exe and leaves it in stable version. What am I missing here?
  21. I am, I used to have the beta but I don't want both on my hard drive at the same time. I take it the multiplayer takes place on beta does it? Didn't know that haha, that's probably me limited to single player then. Edit: Unless there's a way of having both stable and beta installed at the same time without doubling up on the core files.
  22. Yea I think I’ll probably give them a miss. I still can’t see those Cold War servers listed in multiplayer for me to join. I focus on single player but recently made the switch to multiplayer. The full servers seem to all be “training” servers where there’s no fighting. Will stick with modules that have a good choice of campaigns and single missions. Thanks anyway.
  23. Thanks guys, this try before you buy period has been great. I've bought modules in the past and just not liked them (AV8B), not because they're bad modules, the Harrier is awesome, I just don't like it. The MiG and Sabre are absolutely fantastic. To be able to fly WW2 aircraft, then transition to early jets, onto more developed jets like the MiG-19 and MiG-21, then up to the more modern gear is, for me, the best part of this sim. If I could only pick one out of MiG 15 and Sabre it'd be the MiG but this current sale and the Grimreapers promo code means if I am going to get them I may as well get the 1950s stuff together. How did you go about learning the mission editor? I've watched numerous videos and have just found I can't get certain things like triggers to work, or make meaningful enemies. I'm happy enough using WW2 assets for the 1950s period. It's not perfect but it'll do. Wish they had more 1950s/1960s air combat out there, it really was a fascinating period for aviation.
  24. Really like the aircraft, would like to buy this along with the F-86 while they're on sale but I can't really find any content for them. I'd like to dogfight online but I can't find the elusive 'Cold War' servers I've heard about and there really isn't any single player content. Is somebody able to shed some light on how to get the best out of these modules? I don't need to be sold on the modules themselves, they're awesome, especially the simulation of control difficulties at high speed, it's something ive never seen in another sim. But beyond flying around and doing some instant actions, I can't see much use for them.
  25. I have seen a response in another thread I started a couple of days ago before I saw this thread. Hiromachi says they are aware of it. I’m not sure about a fix. Since it also happens to a lesser degree on the MiG 19 I think they’re not sure whether it’s a module issue or a broader DCS issue. I didn’t used to have this problem with the MiG 21 and back then I had a much inferior GPU and half the RAM I have now. Somewhere in the last few updates this has happened so I would have thought it’ll be fixable.
