  1. Good idea! F-15 and the ASM-135 ASAT, what do you think? Awsom!
  2. Frankly, I don't remember, it was a few years ago (and then I started making backups of the log). I just remember it was something serious and I didn't like it
  3. Not sure if this is a good idea. During a mission, I accidentally shot down a friendly aircraft. It was treated as a fratricide and, IIRC, my score was reset. Fortunately, I had a copy of the logbook and was able to sweep that regrettable incident under the rug Which might not be possible if the logbook is cloud-synced.
  4. I see. I'm not sure if it applies to ships as well, but generally units in DCS have a health bar. So maybe the lowest health bar value should be 1, which would mean that a given unit is destroyed, but is not completely annihilated and it is a wreck that can still attract missiles.
  5. What??? Our favourite (well, sort of) simulator has flaws and you think it's funny???
  6. All right, so I am learning to fly the Viggen now (and it's fun by the way) and fly the training missions one by one. In the RB-04E employment mission, I noticed what I think is a strange missile behaviour. Long story short, I fired one missile at the group of ships, waited several seconds and fired the other one. Both missiles were going towards the same target, i.e. the southernmost Ivanov. But when the first missile hit the ship, the other one "realized" that its target has been destroyed and turned towards another ship (and hit it). I'm not an expert, but I don't think this is realistic, I guess both missiles would hit the same target (as it's not possible for the second missile to recognize that its target has been destroyed). I attached some screenshots to illustrate the issue.
  7. From me as well
  8. Just another day at the office... DACT against a Su-27 over Nevada. One circle fight and a lucky snapshot. DCS can look really beautiful.
  9. "And oh, guys, before you start your flying career, there's one more thing. When in combat, remember to start shooting a bit early. Nothing serious, just a small design flaw, just a nuisance, really. Not a big deal. And you want to fly the Wooden Wonder, don't you?"
  10. In theory, it's not that bad, but it's noticeable nonetheless. It seems not to be the case when you fire the guns in the Kurfurst, for instance.
  11. IIRC, the German MK108 fired from an open bolt. Anyway, regardless of the fact if a cannon fires from an open or closed bolt, there shouldn't be any significant (1 second) delay. If the cannon wasn't cocked on the ground and has to be cocked in the air by a pneumatic system, I guess there can be a short delay. But (IMHO) after the first cartridge has been fired, there's not need for the pneumatic system to cock the cannon again and there shouldn't be any delay anymore.
  12. They have one job, and they're serious about it!
  13. Well, the general rule with guns (pistols, carbines, rifles, cannons, etc.) is that you have to reload the weapon first to place the first round (cartridge) in the chamber. Then when you pull (or push) the trigger, the recoil pushes the bold (slide) back and another round is placed in the chamber, and the cycle continues as long as the trigger is pressed and/or there's any ammo in the magazine. Don't you have to press Space at some moment to contact control or something? I completed the campaign a few days ago and had no problems with missions, triggers, etc.
  14. Sorry, I was wrong. Still hungover after the party after shooting down those B-17s You've got to press Alt + Space and keep them pressed for a few seconds (you'll hear a "whoosh" sound). Checked again and it worked this time. Hope that helps.
  15. Yes, I still remember, "missile warning"
  16. True, those side views were something completely new back then. But I think the most playable sim for the C-64 (at least the most playable one I played) was Air Combat Emulator. It was very user-friendly, had a campaign (well, sort of) and in-flight refueling to boot
  17. Yes, it was pretty slow. But there was no point in playing some (pirated) games in the tape version. F-14 was another good floppy disk game.
  18. I saved some money to buy a floppy drive for my C-64, but eventually bought some aviation books for that money
  19. In 1986, it was a new level of quality in 8-bit gaming. A friend of mine has the floppy disk version and oh man, was I jealous!
  20. I had the tape version. It was very impressive back then, there was even some kind of intro with black and white pictures. Each time I tried to use the boost, there was an engine fire shortly afterwards. I used the fire extinguisher, but with only one engine operational, it was game over anyway
  21. Confirmed. Loading a mission in the Jagdflieger campaign takes much longer now. And when I tried to load some Mossie missions, the system stopped responding.
  22. That's all right. I got frustrated a bit, but decided to proceed and it worked.
  23. I have the same problem. However, the ground crew do prime the engines, you can continue i.e. turn both (port) magnetos to on and press (port) starter and boost buttons. Then do the same with the starboard engine. The taxi and take off tutorial seems to be bugged as well, but can be completed.
  24. Did Emil pass the test? How many points did he score?
  25. Not really. I still don't know whom I should follow or where is my place in the formation. It's not a show stopper, of course, but I think it would help (after those 2-3,000 bugs have been squashed).
