Enabling "jitter" in cockpit view is cool!
Shrubbo replied to Siinji's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Is this a really noticeable effect as I didn't see any difference?? -
Heh kicked out!??! I would not have made it in to start with :D
-
So that is why I get such a thrill turning the things off every single time I get "in" the thing. Shrubbo lives for teh wrong of it all and thumbs his noes at the establishment. :D
-
I will answer the question in 2 parts.... A: Yes it is possible. B: I wouldn't have a clue but probably make good shooting :D

This should help you get going :) http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=566793&postcount=38

I have wanted to do it for years but too lazy and spent hundreds on shite office chairs that are all the same in the end.... a piece of board with a tinny bit of foam between your but and the wood. A car seat tho is a different kettle of fish. I would like to see an office chair that has.... Fully adjustable Lumbar support Fully adjustable back tilt from all the way forward to all the way back (Sleep time flat) Seat height front and rear is fully and independently adjustable ...all from little dials on the side.... ... and can sit in for hours with no problems and great confort... ... for $60 All I had to do was make a base :) One thing you have to be careful of.... everyone will say "Get a race seat" and that's all very good. Race seats look very nice... but screw that, I wanted comfort for hours on end. So far very happy with the layout. I have to adjust the seat mounts as the rails are centered on my setup BUT the rails are not centered on the chair so I am sitting about an inch to the right of actual center....oops. Also hoping to cover the 3 desktops, finish and paint all the metal, put in the tray inserts underneath and put the wheels on this weekend but may be being a bit optimistic. Might just sit in it and play for the weekend instead :D Once that is done I then will have to make the monitor/pc module for it. The plan is the whole thing will eventually be able to roll around the joint with minimal stuffing around. Now off for a drink, click the little button on the side and slide out ... sweet :D

Tactile feedback chair perhaps interesting?
Shrubbo replied to AndyHill's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Err I was interested in this until I read there forums and didn't feel confidence in what I saw and then noticed that most of the post in this thread are near 4 years old. -
I have been drooling over some Pit's people have been building and sitting here thinking how much my butt hurts from sitting in this stupid office chair for ages so I decided to do something about it. Now while a full on pit would be awesome it would not be practical for me as the room I am in is not that big. When I have LANs hosted here I move out into the living room and I don't just play flight sim's. I play FPS shooters and racing sim's as well. So my requirements needed to be.... Comfortable chair. Needs to be able to move and get through doors. Needs to hold all my controllers in the position I want, especially the pedals. I need to be able to build it out of stuff I can get mostly for free. I had no choice but to buy a chair and a car seat was the way to go for me. I bought a '97 Mitsubishi Magna drivers seat for $60. It is fully adjustable but with no electrics. A was able to get lots of 2 inch box tubing as well as the particle board out of the bin at work. My plan was simple, must be able to sit in chair and get through door. Apart from that I just started cutting and welding. None of the box tubing was straight so I just improvised as I went. This is the chair under construction. Checking to see if I can reach the foot pedal area... ...and then the almost finished product in for testing..... It has worked out better then I hoped for. You sit down and pull the lever on the side and slide into position. The throttle, stick and rudders are in perfect position for me. I added a Buttkicker to it for some feedback and am also very pleased with that. I have tried it out on race sim's as well as FPS and it works just as well for them. The car sim's I tilt the seat right back for the F1 feel:thumbup: It is now in the trial process to see if I am truely happy with it and also that all my welds hold up. Once this part of the testing is complete it will have..... ..the wheels added to it so I don't have to pick up the heavy biatch. ..the inserts added to the floor for storage. (Foot one obviously already in) ..painted and generally cleaned up. ..vinal fake leather covering all the desktop surfaces. ..seat belt and whatever else rattles pulled off the seat. ..drink holder:D Ahhh also note the "desk" part of it comes straight off by lifting upwards, that's how it will fit thru the door. Also after this is complete I will build a matching something to hold the PC etc as well as hold the monitors in position but for now I am happy.

Hey thanks, didn't even know I wanted that until this post :)
-
BTW down side.... if there is anything at all loose on your chair you are going to know about it in a real hurry. The lever that prevents my chair tipping back vibrated out.... now that is what I call immersion and masking tape is your friend :D

Each to there own bud but I agree with diveplane and will explain why :) Ok firstly I have only had it for a bit over a day but If you wish to buy the buttkicker gamer NOW is the time to do so. The reason being is it is being fazed out for a new model this year. I just bought the old model for 1/2 price so if you want one look around. Anyway onto the impressions. 1: When I first unpacked the box I thought wow there be a lot of stuff in here for the cash (Go 1/2 price ftw!!) 2: When I plugged it in I got the same impression as tutmeister. It was rank just vibrating away and I can't say I was real happy with it. 3: It is programmable in a way. You can activate a "low filter cutoff" and also a "high cutoff frequency" button with a dial that has adjustments from 50-110 + it also has a "volume" control. Tho volume would be better thought of as power imo but that would depend on how you look at it I suppose. Number 3 is the key. Once I started playing with those I ended up loving the thing. At present I have low filter activated High cuttoff button in and the dial set to 50. The "Volume" needs to be matched to my speaker volume of whatever at the time. I did infact dial in the buttkicker with the actual game volume off and only the buttkicker working. I can feel the gentle thump thump of the rotors and it picks right up if I load them up. Gear coming up a deaf guy would notice etc. OMG the gun almost hurts hahah. All in all it is not 100% perfect because it works off exactly what a subwoofer would but I am infact very happy with it. So is everyone else I expect because to have a subwoofer that powerfull would invite the police turning up I would think :) The best way I could think of describing it would be this way... Ever been to an imax theater and felt the chair shake with what is going on? As I understand it there is a high probability you where actualy sitting on a buttkicker. !! Remember tuning is the one and only key if you do it right then I 100% recomend this thing. Last night when Iron Man went supersonic I spilt my god damn drink!! Now I am actualy very happy about that :D

Left Windows key + End ensures there is no engine assist and removes the temptation of ejection or throttle up if you don't like how it is going :D
-
I don't care if you don't buy it.... I wasn't selling anything. I was just trying to help as I thought clearly you had a problem with something that was not actually a problem and I could offer some advice. Obviously the hardware is at fault and there is nothing for you to learn and I bid you good day sir:thumbup:

Oh btw a tip. If you need super delicate control of the collective for some reason (Strangely enough I find lots of reasons for this) place the heel of your hand just on the edge of the casing and just use your fingers to push/pull. I am still impressed with the minute power differences I can make doing that.
-
Hey if you like it go for it but I think you just need to forget about worrying where your collective is and just fly the thing TooCool. For example... I have flown various types of planes. I have driven many types of cars, bikes, trucks, forklifts etc etc etc and not one single one of them had any sort of heads up display of where the throttle was at. Exactly the same can be said of a collective. There is no need to see where exactly it is, the only thing you need to worry about is what your machine is doing. I use CH, personally I love it and my control if very accurate with the collective. I am only concerned with what the aircraft is doing, I have no concern at all for where the control is. (Catastrophic failure aside ok but you get my point:D)

Post I made quite a while ago that should help some of you set up Tir http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=566793&postcount=38
-
BTW if you turn off all the autopilot assists (Those blue buttons next to your virtual right elbow) you will find all that behavior goes away and it only does what you tell it to do (Or don't stop it doing). A considerable increase in work load but flying it is all the fun for me, I don't want no computer doing it for me do I :D

Meh I have looked but can't find the video but there is one somewhere where the video camera is in the cockpit looking out over the nose. Very similar to our view in game. I can't remember the details but I can remember thinking just how close they got this sim to the real thing. Yes it seems it does actually move like that :)
-
Possible stupid question but you don't have it paused do you? The default key is F9. The reason I ask that is firstly, I have never set up Tir in BS as such. It just works and secondly the blue light says it'a working and detecting the game and should be working... that leeds me to Tir may be "paused".
-
Glad I could help silent one :) Navman, Funny my Tir isn't listed in any columns tho I am unsure if that is a problem with yours or not. For some reason I don't think it is but don't quote me on that. So you say your Tir is working but has no active fields. So this means the blue light is on when you are in game but your virtual head is not moving?
-
I have had these work before, may help you. 1: Turn TiR software off. Un plug TiR, wait a couple of seconds until windows recognizes that it has gone then plug it back in and let it automatically re-install the hardware. See if it works.. 2: Unplug TiR, Un-install TiR software, reboot. Then proceed as if you have just bought it and instal it with the latest stuff you have downloaded. Don't forget to update the games list as well. If those don't work then I have no more ideas atm.

Did a search but still have a TIR problem
Shrubbo replied to FixerOhio's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Heh strangely enough I was just having "range" problems with my Tir. Half a meter distance + between the camera and the reflectors and jerky response sort of range problems. I blasted the reflectors with windex as well and everything is perfect again :) -
Config/View/View.lua This line only......This is the default line and the BOLD numbers are the ones of interest...... CameraViewAngleLimits[PlaneIndex.iKA_50] = {20.0, 120.0} That means the most you can zoom in is to a 20 degree FoV and the most you can zoom out is 120 degrees FoV. I have mine set as below so I can one click and be away. CameraViewAngleLimits[PlaneIndex.iKA_50] = {170.0, 170.0} Please note that on my system if I have it set either side of 180 and try and "zoom"" though 180 it bogs down, some times locks up. Either side if fine tho. IE.... 20-170 or 190-250. 170 is simply my personal favorite FoV. Once I get in game I press zoom in or zoom out and I go to my FoV of 170 degrees, I can no longer adjust "zoom" as such as the options are 170-170. I can still move all around the cockpit like in real life, look over and around the stick etc, all 6DoF are working. The only thing I have removed is the ability to have super power zoom vision :)

This should give you at least a little to go on..... 3ghz dual core E6850 with 4gig of pc800 ram on a p35-ds4 MB Gigabyte GTX260 oc graphics. Vista SP1 8xAA 16xAF Texture filtering set for "High Quality" Game is set to.... Textures.. HIGH SCenes... HIGH CIv Traf.. HIGH Water... low Vis Range ... Medium. Heat Blur... On Shadows... Full Res ... 4320x900 Aspect 4.8 (4.8 to 1) Monitors 1camera. Cockpit res.... 1024 This is what it looks like at 200fov I ran the track that makes this video ... and looking at the front and not moving FoV (TrackIR disabled) gave me these results in FRAPS. 2008-12-22 19:51:10 - dcs Frames: 14325 - Time: 276601ms - Avg: 51.789 - Min: 35 - Max: 65 I now run 170 and due to a general tidy up I probably run better then that now. Remember BS is generaly more interested in your processor then you graphics. However I did notice a substantial difference going from an 8800gt to a 260gtx @ 1920x1200 before I got the tripple head. You may have misunderstood me hannibal or maybe I misunderstood you :) The unrealistic zoom in and out I have removed so when I enter cockpit one key press gives me the FoV I want.(170 atm) However I do retain that degree of freedom to move around the cockpit as I would if I was really there. It's awesome. It's a shame you have had no fun mate, the th2g I could not live without now. I would not even swap it for a 50 inch monitor tbh. (BTW that last statement is a fact, building a "pit" and have put some major thought into controls/placements/monitors etc. TH2G won it for me even tho mounting 1 big one is a lot easyer then mounting 3x24's)

You got the latest software version but have you got the latest game updates? Under the Update tab you will find..... Check for Game Updates. Check for Software Updates. It sounds like you have updated the Software, but have not updated the Games List.
