Yeah, unfortunately people are learning the hardest way possible what a firestorm actually is, and how fast it can move. We are getting some chilling stories at work from co-workers down south. I saw a photo today taken at lunch time. It looked like it was midnight, I kid you not. I have now seen Black rain as well. Very bad indeed but I am fortunate, only photos and so far my relations are safe.

Pic is a couple of weeks old now so it is way out of date. Every Saturday is "Shrubbo takes a grinder/welder/hammer to his chair day and does something different." Project in unplanned "lets see what happens" evolution but you get the idea... My comfort level now is ftw ! Vista home premium 32 Intel core 2 duo E6850 stock 3.00ghz 260 gtx Graphics 4 gig pc800 ram (I think, been a while since I cared. Sounds about right tho) p35-ds4 mb 500 gb WD caviar HDD + a couple of USB TB jobs for storing all the stuff. TH2Gd running across 3x24 inch acer monitors. CH Pro pedals and throttle + fighterstick. TrackIr 4 Buttkicker g5 mouse and g15 kb 2.1 logitech z4 sound.

Are my rudder pedals causing trimmer to not stay on?
Shrubbo replied to moshjack's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Oh sorry to answer your thread topic question, no I don't think it is your pedals.... it seems to be your wheel that is causing the problem. -
That would totally depend on what you define as "worth". The buttkicker is not the be all and end all of cool gadgets but is is cool. For example at first thought I would not rate it up there with TrackIR, ... at first thought.... Anyway.... I got mine for near half the normal price, still not cheap as such but good enough that I would buy it for the hell of it and overall I would have to say I am very happy with it. It does exactly what I expected it to do. I found the key is setting it up for each game by twiddling the nobs on it a bit. Not difficult but needs a twiddling to get it good me thinks. Now back to that "...at first thought..." and what I mean by that. My room is very hot (Was a 40+ day) and while the air con was on this room doesn't have air con (YET!) and faces the sun (God wtf!) so with 2 computers, 4 monitors, amps, stuff, things, etc all running plus stinking hot ambient it was pretty hot (You get the picture yet) Been playing for quite while and had the buttkicker cranked up to "probably break something" power setting and the thermal cut out kicked in and switched it off. I knew exactly what had happened and was not worried at (Was expecting it in fact) but I was surprised by the sensation (Or lack thereof). It was like playing without trackIR, yeah quite playable but screw that crap. I went and got a drink and waited for it to cool down. Understand what you are buying firstly and know what it is going to do for you then you won't be disapointed, quite the oposite. For me the truth is that it is better then I expected it would be and don't like the idea of it not being there. In fact it is there now, rumbling away to some music I am playing... and the wife isn't yelling at me from the other room... yet :D

Are my rudder pedals causing trimmer to not stay on?
Shrubbo replied to moshjack's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well you just answered my problem at least. I rarely if ever use the trim but I was fooling around and seeing how far I would get on bugger all fuel and when I tried to trim it to fly level so I could grab my drink that was just out of reach the trim would not work. I filed it under "curious and will have to check that out one day". I just read your post, glanced down and noticed my logitech FFB momo steering wheel is plugged in. Not the power nor the pedals, just the usb connection to the wheel itself. So I booted up the game and checked to see if the trim problem was still there and it was. Shut down the game, unplugged the USB connection to the wheel and fired the game back up. Trim works as per normal now. I guess it is getting confused with multiple controllers in. -
F8 default key is precision mode. If that fixes your problem then it isn't really a problem as such, you just have your individual sensitivities to high.

French fighter planes grounded by computer virus
Shrubbo replied to Grimes's topic in Military and Aviation
Heads + Roll would be used together in some sentence I would expect :D -
Also could be these one or more of these 2 things if the above suggestions did not work... You are too far away from the sensor, I think 24-36 inches for the tir4 (Not sure, you will have to check) ...or combined with the above or solo.. You are using the hat reflector things and they are dirty. Spray them with windex or similar and wash and dry them off.... Jittery always means those 2 things to me if there is nothing showing up in the track view except the green dots.

Ok it's called natural head movement. I actually like it as I am lazy and it saves me tilting my head a bit in turns (;))but the main reason I like it is because it also simulates G forces. If you want to turn it off then press Left Windows key + F1, same to turn it on again.

You think a D-Box Personal Motion Platform is the Ultimate?
Shrubbo replied to TheMoose's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark

hannibal, I am no where near 17fps and I wouldn't even bother to play at 17fps. I am now running a 200Fov at 4320x900 and I don't think it would ever drop to 17fps. If I remember rightly you have a 8800gt card and I said at the time I thought you would be asking too much of it and it seems you are. I am running a gigabyte 260gtx oc card and th2g and could not go back to blinker view for anything. ruprecht, I may have a suggestion that would boost your frames. I notice from that picture that you have the "3 camera" view set. I don't run that view for 2 reasons... 1: I didn't like the odd way it looks when you turn your head with trackIr. I gather that view was made for setups that don't use trackir. For example you would set you pit up with the monitors where the windows would be in rl. In effect it would go into a fully enclosed pit. Thats what I think anyway. 2: IT MURDERED my fps! <<<<<<<<<<<<<<< I run one single view with a 200 FoV. Love it.

You don't have to have rudder pedals, you don't have to have sex either but ...... trackir. Once you have trackir you will not ever play a sim again that does not support it. Race and flight. Well that is at least how I see it and a lot of others I gather. Recomendation 1000%+++ Sounds 100% stupid, you can't really picture how it could possibly work as you have to keep looking at the screen anyway... until you own one then there is no going back. :)

TH2G @ 3x1280x1024 view options
Shrubbo replied to TAGERT's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I run vista, there is no span mode that I am aware of and can only be done in windowed mode so I think it might be doable if I chose to try it. Not very likely to try tho as that kind of view isn't what I am after. Urze 6 monitor setup... now that is what I am after in the long run !! 2 words for you..... peripheral vision. Yes I have trackir, yes I mostly only "look" at the center monitor but I always can "see" what is on the side one. For a direct analogy. Your head can pivot around coincidentally just like your trackIR view. Now put blinkers on (Like a race horse so you can only see straight ahead). Now you basically have the single monitor view with trackir. Yeah it's good and far better then having a neck that won't move but.... .....do you think things could improve removing the blinkers then? If you are happy with whatever view then you are happy with whatever view, more power to you but personally I can't ever see enough. When we have "dome like" monitors or VR headsets that use 100% of my real FoV I will be happy but until then 200FoV on tripples will have to do. Well actually until I get a setup like urze then I will be reasonably happy :D -
God urze, the heat in your pc room must give you a tan. I got 1 th2g setup + another pc with only 1 monitor on it and well all I can say is this room will be very nice in the middle of winter :)

This is a silly question really..
Shrubbo replied to CE_Mikemonster's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I turn mine off every night at the wall, always have, always will. No it won't wear out the battery, it will save you burning standby power for nothing tho. -
TH2G @ 3x1280x1024 view options
Shrubbo replied to TAGERT's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
That should work with as few/many problems as any other system. The th2g is just identified as 1 really ....really wide screen monitor. The only reason I haven't tried this is because I am all out of monitors.... at this point in time. I have actually considered plugging in another th2g and another 3 monitors into the second head because that would give me close to the equivalent 72inch monitor with awesome unheard of resolution but.... 1... my system would probably explode. 2... my wallet would probably explode. 3... my room is stupidly hot already ffs. My carbon footprint is already a lol  -

No way man, I seen it in Airwolf once that the dude totally pwned the bad guy doing a loop and stuff 'cause helicopters can't do loops so they were caught by surprise yeah!! I am mortified that I remember that crap

Enabling "jitter" in cockpit view is cool!
Shrubbo replied to Siinji's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Heh ok I recon that answers my question. Now I have to work out why it doesn't do it then I would think.
