What do you mean he can see a target in yellow and the others are blue? The AWG-9 display is in monochrome black and green. v6, boNes

Ah, ok, so that has to be added in the ME by whoever creates the mission then? I was flying the stock F-14 CarQual mission from Heatblur. v6, boNes

Never mind! I'm a big dummeh I just realized I was testing it with the USS Forrestal...which is not Supercaerrier so it works now! But although I can move around and, I can't control the ships heading, turn on the waveoff lights, etc etc, all that good stuff. Oh, and the uopdate list says that mouse control if right alt c but it's actually left alt c v6, boNes

I did a repair, it repaired 2 files, but it's still not working. Is there a command I can look up in control options to find or set the keybind? v6, boNes

With the new update, I tried to get into PRiFly by hitting RALT F9 but it didn't work. What is the command name in the command list or the correct keystroke? v6, boNes

Jester 2.0 (and other new stuff added with F-4 module) when?
bonesvf103 replied to sBinn64's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Well, you can to an extent. Let's say there are three targets prioritized. Select target #1 by hooking it with the HCU then press the "next launch" button and target #2 is now target #1, the old target #1 is now target #2, and target #3 stays the same. On an off note, I always wondered if I could fire 2 Phoenixes in TWS at the same target. I found if you hook the target you fired on then hit "next launch" it will allow you to fire on it again, but the countdown on that target for Phoenix #1 disappears so I don't know if Phoenix #1 just goes active from there or is just dropped. v6, boNes -
HOW CYCLIC OPS REALLY WORKS !!! by GB and Pieter

Thanks. Ok, so said aircraft that launched in event 1 and traps at 1115--is he said to have trapped in event 1 or in event 2? v6, boNes -
HOW CYCLIC OPS REALLY WORKS !!! by GB and Pieter
bonesvf103 replied to Pieterras's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Thanks. But to clarify, if event 1 in your example is from 1000-1100, then event 1 ends at 1100. So if event 2 starts at 1100, and event 1 aircraft wait for the waist to be wrapped and then land by 1115, well that's after 1100 when event 1 ended and event 2 began. So how can you recover at the end of the event you launched in if it was over at 1100 and you landed at 1115? v6, boNes -
HOW CYCLIC OPS REALLY WORKS !!! by GB and Pieter
bonesvf103 replied to Pieterras's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Thanks. OK so there is a sort of overlap. Seems that events are triggered by launches and recoveries can be anytime during the event regardless of what event recovering aircraft started from. What does it mean exactly to wrap the waist? v6, boNes -
WIth the new DCS 2.9.5.55300 patch, can't take screenshots while in the Hornet. If I go to adjust controls, and select UI Layer, the PrintScreen button does indeed go to the screenshot command, but in-game in cockpit, it doesn't do anything. I checked the Hornet command list and hitting PrtScrn is also not one of the keybinds, so it's not like the UI Layer is in conflict with an F/A-18 command. v6, boNes

HOW CYCLIC OPS REALLY WORKS !!! by GB and Pieter
bonesvf103 replied to Pieterras's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
Looking at the example on page 7 of the cyclic ops article, if event 2 cycle is 1+0 and starts at 1100, does the cycle end as soon as the aircraft returning from event 1 land? What if they are late or bolter and the time is now 1215? Since event 3 is scheduled for 1200, does that mean they will delay event 3 to 1215? Or will it overlap with event 3 since the carrier deck physically allows for landings and launches to occur simultaneously? Also in the example on page 6, if event 1 is at 1100 and it is 1+15 cycle, that means it ends are 1215. But if you are landing at 1230 like in that example, then you are actually landing after event 2 begins (if there is an event 2)--so again, is there overlap? Thanks, v6, boNes -
unable to reproduce HARM and EW Problem?
bonesvf103 replied to bonesvf103's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thanks, I've looked at several sites over the years but tend to find information that is either contradictory of others or not complete enough. But I'll keep looking, thanks! Those targets were randomly generated so I don't think SA mode would show them. What is in the SA page is not accurate. But, I stayed in SP mode since it would automatically switch to the spiking target, making it quicker to deal with. If I was in TOO, I'd have to cycle and discern through targets, then handoff, then pickle, which takes more time IMHO. v6, boNes -
unable to reproduce HARM and EW Problem?
bonesvf103 replied to bonesvf103's topic in Bugs and Problems
Thanks for the insight. The units were placed by a script (Through the Inferno), and I can see it locking up a single target, I just thought I'd pick up that electromagnetic burst. So yes, perhaps I need more knowledge of how these things work. It was a beautiful kill on the SAM's part though, wasn't it? Haha. Would you happen to know of any sites that explain these systems and how they operate? v6, boNes -
My friend played WIld Weasel. He flew his F-16 over the SAM and the SAM spiked him, but I got nothing on my RWR. The SAM even fired and I still got nothing on my RWR, so I couldn't fire my HARM to kill the SAM. I dunno what's up with that. Scroll to 5:00 into the mission and the trackfile. He says he's being locked by an SA-3. I never see it in my RWR. He even launches and I see it. The RWR goes on, but for a AAA site, not the SA-3. My buddy gets shot down because I couldn't kill the SAM. Is something wrong? This is not the first time it happened. This should be the track file: server-20240501-231010.trk thanks! v6, boNes

I don't know about preventing it, but if you have PLM mode mapped to a HOTAS button, what i usually do when he does that is tap the PLM button. This will override his STT and set it back to a default radar mode from which Jester will usually default to TWS. The only drawback really is that it take a second or two to repopulate the scan because the TWS has to make those 2 sweeps again before displaying tracks. v6, boNes

I wonder why Grumman (or whoever) made it that way. v6, boNes

Tomcat is much harder to do aerial refueling than hornet
bonesvf103 replied to Ddg1500's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I believe on the KC-135R, the Tomcat had to plug into the basket enough to put a kink in the hose, and maintain that. This is because that particular hose comes off of the boom, and is not very flexible, and only 10 feet long, so doing this helps the fuel properly flow. That is probably what one sees in video where the probe is being "rammed" into the basket. IIRC, it isn't done on any other refueler. IN fact, this has earned the KC-135R the nickname "Iron Maiden" from Naval Aviators. Some poor soul wrestling with the Iron Maiden: From a Hornet driver: I also find the Tomcat to be easy to refuel, possibly more than the Hornet, but that's subjective. Once I'm plugged in the Tomcat, I give it a very small throttle shot and bring it back that small amount every other second and I stay plugged. Of course that also depends--if I end up starting to overtake the tanker, I skip the shot for a second or two to compensate and I'm fine again. No matter what the technique you use, just remember trim, and very VERY small control inputs and counter them immediately with the opposite input to avoid PIO. You know are in close formation and as you probably know, the control inputs get tinier and tinier the closer you are to the aircraft you are flying with. Or, think about an ILS approach or a ICLS approach. The closer you get to the runway/carrier, the more sensitive a control input is. Be mindful of that when tanking too! v6, boNes -
I read somewhere that it is centered physically on the Tomcat's nose by default. I don't use the HUD for much more than rough reference; for accurate horizon I use the VSI and attitude indicator instead. v6, boNes

Tomcat Air to Air Refueling basket question
bonesvf103 replied to Bushwood's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
You eventually find what works for you and stick with that. I myself never use rudders, I just use tiny control inputs and immediately counter them to balance it out else PIO becomes a problem. The only trim I use is elevator trim as with the wings in bob mode you lose some lift and I don't want to have to hold my nose up while I'm trying to plug, so I trim accordingly. v6, boNes -
So what can we expect when the TARPS becomes operational? What kinds of things will we be able to do? v6, boNes

correct as-is Can't change radar azimuth after a lock.
bonesvf103 replied to H60MTI's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Oh, and to switch contacts after firing, hit TDC undesignate. It will make your DT2 L&S and L&S DT2. If you only have one target designated in any way after firing, you have to slew the cursor over to another brick and TDC designate that before you can switch back and forth. Also, hitting reset only drops all your designated targets and if you configured the radar and saved the settings, it will reset to those settings too (save for azimuth). But this only works when you are in RWS mode. v6, boNes -
I have been arizona and still have seen an emitter box in my HUD. I couldn't shoot at it since I was arizona, but something was still detecting and displaying the threat, so I'm assuming the notion that the detection gear being in the pylon holds true, or if not, it just is possible somehow to show it in the HUD even if you're arizona. v6, boNes
