Mission 3 radio frequencies and codeword
SorelRo replied to Pyrocumulous's topic in AV-8B Hormuz Freedom Campaign
Roger that, I'm away from my computer for a few more days. I'll get to it when I'm back. -
I don't know the Viggen all that well, the next ones will be Mi-24 and F-16, after that we I'll go into Black Sea resolve 2.0 and so on
-
Just like in the previous missiom, that's probably because of the AI changes recently. I'll review this. Thanks.

Mission 3 radio frequencies and codeword
SorelRo replied to Pyrocumulous's topic in AV-8B Hormuz Freedom Campaign
Are you on Open Beta or Stable? I believe I have corrected that a few updates ago, nonetheless I'll check and see if everything is working properly. As for the load outs, APKWS were not available the year this happened. But you can change the load out in the mission planer. I did not restricted that. -
Mission 20 Bombs over Maykop feedback
SorelRo replied to TAIPAN_'s topic in F-5E Black Sea Resolve '79 Campaign
You can change your loadout anyway you can, that's why i put bombs and rockets, depending on what your streghts are. to me, from the IP flying as low as possible and as fast as possible is the way to go. one pass should deal with everything as they explode with more violence than normal in DCS. You may be caught in the explosion if you are not fast enough. -
Mission 19. Not clear what to do.

That's great, yeah, all bombers have to be dead, one of them can launch though. Maybe one slipped away because of the dark -

I'll have to test it. There may be a bug. I'm away from my computer for a few days unfortunately. -
Almost done! There will be a few nice ones in there.

Just to motorized vehicles are part of the convoy, so the Shilka, and the ZSU's on trucks, and the supply trucks, the MANPADS are not part of the convoy, keep in mind that the MANPADS don't have resuply, so once they shoot they are pretty much done. It helps to pre-flare or to make a dummy run on them very fast to locate them and make them bite, this way you won't be focused on your attack and the convoy won't disperse, one pass is all you need, by now you should be surgical with your rockets and gun, or go with bombs the first time then, pick them up with rockets,

Mission 15 vcitory conditions
SorelRo replied to Odessa's topic in F-5E Black Sea Resolve '79 Campaign
Thanks, and no worries, please keep posting here when you are sturggling, thanks for flying this campaign, although it's old, i'm still happy that folks are going at it. So, the objectives are. One radar at the first site and the two radars at the second SAM site that should be targeted by the F-4's. With all the AI changes that happened in the past 2 years, the AI behaviour changes pretty much with each update. I know they are engaging the targets eventually, but it's a matter or timing, and many times they are late, depending on where you are catching them in their orbit, and probably by the moon cycle of whatever other stelar events in the world. Taking care of business for them it's the way to go, since you are low and going towards them anyway. The AI works best in the F-5 with cover me or "mission and rejoin" but the best results i had with cover me, as they go and engage SAM's that way, since they are a threat to you. Once again, thanks for playing it and I'm happy for any feedback that I get. When ED will do a re-work on the F-5 I'll do a major overhaul for this campaign, pretty much re-writing it from scratch. Cheers, SorelRo -
Mission 15 vcitory conditions

I'll double, check later on today and let you know. -
It's true though, you will know that part of the map like the back of your pockets.
-
If it's becoming a pain, you can skip it, there's no shame in that, use the mountains for cover, that's how i do it.
-
If you think about how Vietnam was, and this was ment to be a recreation on how AA was in Vietnam, that's how it was, you were ingresing on the target and you face flak. preflaring helps with the IR missiles. But it's pretty much one run and hit the target and get out. If you want to come back use terain cover and maybe different angles, these missions are doable, not easy, but doable.
-
You will notice, that when you are maintaining your flight integrity and keep your formation until the moment you engage the enemy, the AI is quite helpful, if you allow them to lag behind they can't help you in time and burn too much fuel trying to catch with you.
-
All 3 bombers have to be dead, and the ground troops being bombed have to be alive at the end of the mission. If you managed to bag two of them, the third one should be easy. Just get close and close your eyes and he shoots back and gun him down.
-
It should have been a hard mission, but not that hard. AI and how they choose to behave is becoming more of a challenge, also the Igla's used to be quite dumb when preflared, now they are really accurate. Ohh well, I'm trying to adjust it but it's not a battle that i'm winning so far.
-
You are right, however, remember the premises of this campaign, you are cut off from mother Russia, the range is a makeshift range, as for how the bombers are tracking the runway and behave, yes, you are right, they are taking off ahead of you, but they form out to sea and come back, otherwise AI is not clearing off the mountain, if i put you to circle around the airport for them, players are not fuel aware and may run out of fuel before reaching home. Mind you, this campaign is 3 years old and it will go on a major update soon-ish. Cheers,

Loadouts need changing after Razbam Update
SorelRo replied to TAIPAN_'s topic in AV-8B Hormuz Freedom Campaign
I updated the loadouts for the most missions after Razbam pulled this little trick on us. I might have overlooked this one. I'll added in the next update. Thanks for letting me know.- 1 reply

I struggle with Mission 1.
SorelRo replied to Paladin2005's topic in F-5E Black Sea Resolve '79 Campaign
Overlord gives you the RTB order. Listen to the Overlord lady voice, she tells you what do to. When AWACS or CIC tells you to do something, it's an order, and must be followed, that's how the chain of command works. -
Black Sea Resolve Navigation? What am I missing?
SorelRo replied to PJPower05's topic in Missions and Campaigns
AWACS is not fully scripted, you should be getting responses from it when interrogated with bogey dope or anything like this. If it doesn't that must be a DCS bug, If you tell me the mission name, I can ran a few tests, also, if you are asking in the unlucky event when the AWACS is in a turn and loosing track on the bogeys, you won't be getting an accurate response. Navigation is dead reckoning, later on the campaign the airports you are operating from will receive a TACAN beacon and you can use that to guide you home. the waypoints are setup next to distinguishable landmarks, lakes, forests patches, promontory, you should have a quick glance at the map when flying to a waypoint and make sure you know what to look for.
