  1. I'll check it out. there may have been some AI behavior changes, that mission is hard, but certainly doable.

If you ever read Chickenhawk, that's pretty much the bible of helicopter pilots, you will find a lot of passages talking about flights like this, how you can get an overloaded Huey to move from hovering in ground effect to transitional flight, a few cases like this one in this mission, a few cases with moving in circles around a clearing to get enough speed to be able to get up, although i have been tempted to simulate something like this, I believe it would have been hard for a lot of players, also, in that book there's one passage describing how the pilots dealt with an overloaded Huey that caught some barbed wire in the skids and how they managed to get out of it, by knowing how much they can push their helicopter. Once again, it's an amazing book and a very good read if you like helicopters and the Huey.

Hi guys, As a @Screenchecker pointed out, after the latest updates the AI increased their sniper level to "God", so when you land in a certain LZ, you get blasted, thus making it a very hot LZ, a bit hotter than hell. Since my goal is to keep these missions cooler I have came up with an update. That's actually a bit of magic that happens behind the scene with a few seconds of invisibility and invincibility, it's actually something that I hate doing but with how accurate the AI these days i feel like I have to use tricks like this more and more, I don't like it, but it is what it is.   6. Definitely the Mig-21 AI is way smarter, there are also a few things that don't check out well. Let me see if I can come up with a fx before rolling out the new version.
  7. Hmmm, that never happened to me, do you know what unit got you? That's probably some APC, but if you would get the unit name I could see what happened, tanks could fire at you if you linger too much there, your approach should be really quick, I'll test later today, I wonder if something happened and maybe AI moved to quick there. it supposed to be tight but still doable.
  8. You are right, they shot first, and they are taking shots at you, as you progress through the campaign, you may notice that the main character goes through a series of emotions. I believe that is similar with how helicopter pilots felt during Vietnam, at least that's how it shows in the majority of the books I read trying to build this campaign, and yes, the mission is quite simple, but I think it is very fun to mix it up there with the F-4's
  9. It's the AI that went through a lot of changes in the last 4 years. It is supposed to be doable, but I know that as of late the Mig-21s are even better, even if the AI level is lowered, the way I used to engage this is to make sure that my missiles don't miss, with one head on attack where you use the P5 pretty much as an oversized bullet. I'll test it on my end, I'm not as proficient with the F-5 as I used to be, so it will be a challenge on it's own.
  10. @BIGNEWY Can you please have a look at this? It looks like multiple players are experiencing the same problem. The missions score is 100 but the campaign is not progressing, this is not something I can control or modify on my end. It looks like it perpetuates the rest of the missions that are coming after. It needs some eyes from the devs. It also looks like it's similar to this thread, as far as i know, that was under investigation and it was supposedly fixed.

  13. Happy new year! I'm not in front of my computer, but you should have a separate radio menu F6 I believe, ground troops, embark dieembark the select Goat1.
  14. I ran a test, gosh i got so rusty in the UH-1, it worked for me, I got the 100 result just like you. However, it looks like it was not properly written on the user file. That's something i'm trying to chase ED to see where the error it may happen. Due to how i'm doing the testing and how many missions i'm skipping, my test results may be skewed, can you send me a screenshot with your campaign results so far? You can send it in a PM if you don't want to post it here. Thanks a lot.
  15. Can you skip it for now? I'm trying to understand what's going on. Also, as soon as you get the message to RTB, what's the mission score? That should be the 100, so, theoretically, you could end the mission after that.

I checked that mission, and it is working, and doable, but you are right, it is difficult to spot if you can't find them quickly, and you can get into problems really fast, the JTAC is not as responsive as needed, I'm assuming he is losing the LOS. Contacting the JTAC is unnecessary; the scripted guys on the ground will give you pointers. Anyway, I'm modifying the mission to make it a bit more survivable, I haven't been focusing on the Harrier lately, and gosh, how some of my skills went away. I'll have an update in a few days, just need to test everything. Cheers,

  19. Thanks a lot. These words are much appreciated. Bugs happen, and AI is like AI, but I'm always trying to work in the best way to make these as enjoyable as possible. I don't know if you finished the campaign yet, but there are some other intense moments, one of my favorite missions is the FAC one. Let me know what you think about that one.
  20. This is not an error that I can prevent while testing it. This is an error in the core of DCS, this is not something that I can fix or prevent. Campaigns are tested, properly and are flown many many times by multiple testers. However, there are changes at every update that could mess up AI behavior, FARP numbering, the way AI is doing its pathfinding, the way AI reacts to various threats, and other multitude of factors that could break a mission. As you may have noticed from the other threads, every time an error is reported in less than a few days a fix is also provided, the fix is made available ahead of the DCS update schedule. This is something not many campaign creators do to protect their IP, however, I chose to make the fix available as soon as possible. This is not something I can fix or reproduce. It has been reported to Eagle Dynamics and they took steps to fix it, as far as I know. As I said in my previous step I will try to escalate it. Is there anything else I can help you with?
