Real Simulator making a high-end F16C grip
Wicked.- replied to Ranma13's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
My reason for buying it is that I'll be using my Cougar TQS and TUSBA once the 16 is released. I will lose a LOT of buttons from my Warthog throttle and will use the F16SGRH to make up for the loss. -
I originally installed the HID software with my TUSBA on Win10. I'm pretty sure I manually installed whatever Visual Studio it was asking for. Just do a search for it and it should come up with instructions on how to force the missing components.

Read the manual and you'll see. http://www.realsimulator.com/download/F16SGRH_User_Guide_V1.00.3_EN.pdf -
The new beta 1.8.6 seems to freeze occasionally. I only flew for about 10 minutes but it froze, then unfroze 3 times.

When he had it connected, he could move the headset around and see it looking around the portal on his laptop screen but no video in the HMD. So, I'm guessing it's not going to work with Thunderbolt and the port replicator he has now, Thunderbolt is tied like you described to the intel GPU and not the 2080ti in which case we might be able to change that in bios, or the HDMI out to DP in adapter he bought tonight might work. Either way I'll let you know if it might help your situation.

I've got a buddy who has an MSI stealth laptop with 2080ti and i9. He just received a new Reverb today and after installing everything it won't display WMR portal. This laptop only has an HDMI out for display out. It has USB 3.0 and Thunferbolt output which he's using with a port replicator. The replicator has a Mini DP and that is where he's plugging in the Reverb. So my question is: is he screwed? Or, is there an adapter for the HDMI or Thunderbolt that will work. The laptop is running his CV1 like a champ but that's HDMI. I'm unaware of a method to upscale an HDMI to DP. Thanks

Has anyone replaced the DMS on a Warthog stick with the Debolelstis DMS? If so, how did you remove the Warthog DMS? Thanks -
FSSB3 Lighting settings for HID tool by plane
Wicked.- replied to Wicked.-'s topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Here are the HID settings I'm currently using for the both the 18 and 15. From here I've changed the axis curves in DCS for the 18. At neutral or 0 curve I do not get enough roll rate on X axis or pull on Y so right now I have both set at negative 8 (-8 ) for each. Last night on a whim I tried these settings with the 15 and was pleasantly surprised at how responsive AND controllable it was. I at first thought I still had my curves set to 30 for the Warthog but after looking I realized the curves for the 15 were at zero 0 since adding the FSSB3 wiped out the Warthog settings. I'm still getting a small bounce when I use pitch and roll on the 18. I believe it's partially caused by the BFA being set at high in conjunction with a negative curve but also from the digital flight control system of the Hornet. It's just sloppier than the 15 and in all honesty the FSSB3 is for TRUE FBW aircraft like the M2000 and Viper; not the Hornet. -
Try setting DCS, vrcompositor and vrserver to real time priority. You should be able to do this with the evaluation program. It will warn that Windows may override the settings and drop them to high; just ignore it. You'll have to have DCS running and alt tab to set priority on DCS. Setting these three processes to real time is what eliminated stuttering and tearing of frames and smoothed out my FPS. At least it did for me but YMMV. Next, what speed memory do you have and what speed is it running?
-
Since Realsimulator doesn't have its own thread I was hoping to start one for the FSSB3 owners to compare stick settings for the different aircraft. Settings would include both the HID tool settings and DCS axis curve settings. I'm not done getting the 18 dialed in yet as it seems to bounce when the stick breaks center but I'll post what I have for it and the 15 tomorrow.

I don't have that issue unless there's a big lag spike. As I've said before I fly almost exclusively on our squad server with as many as 10 guys flying at once. We fly close formation for carrier breaks with maybe 10' between wingtips with no issues like that. There are occasions when my frames will drag down a bit and I'll see my wings blur a bit but that's it. What are your specs and are you using Process Lasso? That plays a big part I'm convinced since I set VRCompositor, vrserver and DCS to real time priority. Most of the time it's silky smooth though when I first join it might hiccup a couple times while the map and objects are loading into memory.

I just purchased mine. -
How would you improve my system for better FPS in VR?
Wicked.- replied to JG4_Sputnik's topic in Virtual Reality
I agree with Harlikwin. The 970 is the most glaring component but if you upgrade to a RTX2070 or 2080Ti, non Ti or Super you'll need more CPU speed to feed it. 5.0Ghz seems to get most people satisfied with performance if not happy so that's what I would go for; the speed increase coming from being overclocked or native boost frequency. Then I'd add another 16GB as 32GB is perfect since the memory leak has been fixed. Lastly, ditch Windows 8.1 and get 10. -
Because the pinky switch and paddle are used for entering programming mode they don't seem to work as a shift/modifier button in DCS. I simply set the modifier to a switch on the throttle. I'll be ordering the F16SGRH today as well and will no longer have a need for a shifted state when I get it.
-
I've now flown a good 16 hours using the above settings in multiplayer and it's rock solid. I'll usually fly 4 hours at a stretch. Using 436.02 as well.

If you're getting a reduction in frame rates loosen memory timings.

From what I can see on the 2D monitor videos I think it will be just fine, whether in a CV1 or an Index. From what I can see and based on my experience with the Hornet I think it will be much better. Also, before I purchased my Index I saw an increase in visual clarity with my Rift. This was after the optimizations came out. While many people did not see improvement most CV1 users did; for a while anyway. Apart from that, the Viper MFD's are much less busy than the DDI's in the Hornet. Lastly, the seat in the Viper is raked back 30 degrees and your eyes are more inline with the MFD's which will keep you in the sweet spot in VR. After flying the Viper in another sim for 20 years on a 2D monitor, I can't freaking wait to be in the jet in VR.

I fly exclusively online on our squad server. There I rarely have an issue unless I'm next to someone with a low bandwidth connection. However, when I fly on the 107th TTI server I do have those issues but I would say it's a bandwidth/ping issue and not so much an Index issue. How well do those settings work for you in stand alone? I can pretty well gauge my system performance just by flying the instant action free flight for the 18. If it holds 45 FPS when I fly low over large patches of trees and can see multiple elevation changes in the view it's usually good to go online as well. That said, having to exchange data with people with slower connections is always going to cause issues with lag. I have a solid 190-200 Mbps connection down and 11 Mbps up and that is on a wireless Netgear A7000 USB NIC. Many guys I fly with can't get this speed wired and lag out when near others. So, first thing first is to check your internet speed both up and down. Lastly, triggers in PVE servers will cause havoc as well.

That would be my thinking as well and honestly it's ridiculous to think otherwise. Also, it seems to work fine in the FC3 Eagle.

I started a thread on the same topic the other day. Seems to be a common problem. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4038042&postcount=1

So I received the FSSB3 and have installed and flown with it. One problem, I set my paddle to be a modifier and while it is now the modifier, when I pull it to set a shifted button the button will not work. Once I let go of the paddle the DMS switch for instance works again. Is there a setting I'm missing? Thanks! Never mind, I figured it out.

Below are my DCS settings. Along with that I'm at 1.0 Pixel Density and 58 IPD in the VR tab. SteamVR settings: Video tab, Custom Resolution 148% DCS Application 138% All else at 100% NVCP: The only thing I changed was prefer maximum performance. Every time I try and use AA or AF using the NVCP I get ghosting. Also, you'll notice I do not use ANY shadows or MSAA. I really don't care for the shadows at all and I've gotten used to not using MSAA. I can spot targets much farther now and outside objects are very sharp once closer. By not using these features I free up overhead which increases my FPS.

Editable button layout template for Logitech G13

I use a Playseat Airforce chair and already have a piece of plastic sandwiched between my throttle and the side mount. It's extended in front to hold a track ball. I'm going to look at it again tomorrow though. Your profile makes it worth figuring out a solution. -
Mine will be here tomorrow... in Texas... lol very impressed.

I didn't see anywhere in settings where I could do that. As quickly as they're responding hopefully someone or multiple someone's will mention it. As to the beta itself in DCS, it's still good for me. Sitting on the ramp in Kasahb, on our squad server, multiple people flying, everything outside the jet is sharp and detailed with no noticeable frame drops. It's really pretty. I don't think it's placebo lol.
