Yes. However, you don't need a base for it to be a fully functioning stick. You need a power supply of 5v which you get from the included USB cable and a Bluetooth dongle. The stick connect via Bluetooth not through the USB even when connect to a FSSB Lighting. Pitch, roll and yaw are handled by internal accelerometers.

I'll try that.

Oh, yeah. It's very nice having left and right mouse button on the DMS and TMS Centers. Once I updated the firmware on the FSSB3L everything in the HID Dev tool worked perfectly. Now to figure out what to do with an extra 32 buttons! One thing you notice right away is the weight. It's designed to be used without a base if need be using only a power cable and Bluetooth so that was a good call. It is VERY light but once connected you'll never know. The buttons have a very tactile snappy feel and I won't have any issue with hitting wrong buttons. My only gripe is they use the "stadium" style DMS switch instead of the "castle" which is what the newer blocks like the 50 use. I've replaced my Warthog DMS switches with Debolestis' Castle switches and I will miss them. Other wise it is nice and clean. Another change from having both it and the FSSB3L is now I have 4 controllers in DCS. It was slightly confusing figuring out which did what but in the end it's easy.

Got it. FSSBR3L needed updating.

Received my grip today and so far all I've done is made my FSSB3L stop working. At least in the HID device tool. I uninstalled the tool I had and installed the latest dated 9/17 I think. After attaching the grip to the FSSB3L I went to the HID tool and from there everything except the center buttons seemed to be working. However, when I click on the F16SGRH Tab I get an exception error and am asked if I want to close the program or continue. I say continue and from here I test buttons. So far, the only memory slot that seems to function correctly is the 4th. I can see it hitting the proper buttons in the Windows devices and the effected buttons are what I would expect to see: 1 for trigger 4 for paddle and so on. Once I'm on the F16SGRH Tab in the HID program, I do not see key presses but instead I see keystrokes typed out. Not every switch types something out though. For instance the DMS will work side to side but not up and down. I am hooked to bluetooth and see RS-F16-SGR HOME in the list of bluetooth devices. Do I need to update the firmware on my FSSBR3L??? Otherwise I'm confused as hell.

Set a curve in axis shaping of about 30 for the antenna elevation. This will slow down how fast it moves the antenna up and down. Still you only need to move out of center a small amount to move it up and down. Immediately put it back to center when you get the altitude you're looking for. It's not ideal and it's not how it really functions but it works for now.

Will do!

I, along with others who've been waiting to receive their F16SGRH got an update on Thursday. They should start shipping this week!! Stoked! The reason I bought it mainly was to make up for the loss of switches on the Warthog throttle. I"ve had 3 Cougars in storage forever and out of the three one was still good to go. I bought the TUSBA a couple years ago but almost immediately afterward I tried VR..... The other sim went on the back burner lol. Anyway, the extra switches on the F16SGRH should make up for the lost switches and allow me to ditch the G13 and Razor Tartarus I use as kneeborads lol. Can't wait.

I was half asleep after a 4 hour online Index VR session when I explained my final FPM/staple position before flare. The FPM is above the staple not at the lower portion. When I flare I'm pulling the staple up to center the FPM or slighly high of center. I usually touch down around 130-145. Anyway, no pitch trim at all, just balancing speed and AOA.

F-16C & CBU-97 SFW, ED went above and beyond

Watching them in VR on my Index is epic. They were always my favorite cluster in that other Viper sim but seeing when the puck finally homes on the target and shoots that golden death dust is absolutely beautiful! -
980GTX isn't going to push the Index. Period. If the S or Reverb are working well with the 980 that's awesome. No reason to change. To get decent results with the Index you'd need a minimum of a 1080Ti and 7700K. Decent. Not good or great.

I never trim pitch for landing. You fly the Viper all the way down to the flare. It's a controlled landing and with the brakes out you're still working the throttle until you idle right before flare. It's actually a hell of lot easier than the Hornet. As I approach EOR my nose is pointing where I'm going to put down. FPM is at the bottom of the staple. As I cross EOR I go idle and flare putting the FPM in the middle of the staple to just above the middle. Then it's kiss the runway.

The 16 doesn't require a lot of trim. It's a true fly by wire aircraft and the computer is always working to do what it thinks you want from your inputs. It does not fly like an 18, 14 or even a 15. The closest module to it is the Mirage. It does not take a lot of presses on the trim hat to do what you want. If I just dropped a CBU97 from one wing and need to trim it only takes two presses usually and at most 3. If you look at the back of the left hand console you can see exactly how much you're trimmed by looking at the wheel. The only time I have to trim is correcting for an offset load on the wings. You do not have to trim for landing other than that. The flaps come down with the gear and the computer controls both them and the slats. There's no reason I can think of other than unbalance forward/aft fuel tanks to trim the pitch. The jet will level itself out usually regardless of speed. I could be wrong on that but it's been my SIM experience to be the case lol.

F16 Control setup before next release?
Wicked.- replied to cptmrcalm's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Pay attention to the G meter in the top left of the hud over the speed tape. I was having the same issue and realized I was putting way more load on the jet than I thought. The Vipers best corner speed is between 340-440kts. At this speed you can out turn anything. Both fighters suck at speeds below 250 but the Viper is really bad. 21's don't like to go slow either which is why they high yo-yo all the time. If you're going to crank a turn, do it at corner speed. Going faster than corner in a turning fight will not help at all. If you find you can't pull 8-9 G's youre either too fast or too slow. The 21 has a faster roll rate but not a faster turn rate. The Hornet beats the 21 because it can pitch and roll all day below 200kts. -
Radar elevation always full up 99/99?

Look under HOTAS category. -
I use negative 10 for pitch and negative 18 for roll. I'm using an FSSB3 Lighting. For the dead zone you shouldnt need any. The Viper has a pressure sensitive stick that takes a certain amount of force to break center. Also, it's a full fly by wire which takes your input as a suggestion and makes it happen smoothly lol. The rudder I originally set to 30 curve but will be bringing it down to 20. Don't set it to control your nose wheel steering. As soon as you see 60 knots in the speed box turn NSW off. If you're in AB you'll go from 60 to a 100 very fast. Set the curve for your rudder. If you put to high a curve you'll have too much deflection before your rudder moves. You need rudder to control when aerobreaking.

Yep, happened in the 16 to me. I didn't check if it happened in another jet. It's working fine now though.

I paid $800 for my Index and 2 base stations. Other than it recently getting hot after 30 minutes I'm totally happy. I had the CV1 originally for a year and a half, tried the Odyssey and hated the halo, then bought the Pimax 5K+ which was total garbage (at least mine was), then I tried the S but couldn't use it because of my IPD. That said I once again hated the Halo. If I could have used the Reverb I would have bought it. I have a couple friends I fly with using them now and other than tracking in a dark room they love them. I would get a replacement and give it one more go. Otherwise save $200 and get the S.

32GB memory is perfect. If your using a CV1 and your IPD is within the S specs, buy the Rift S. if you're keeping the CV1, do the following: Download and install Oculis Tray Tool. Set supersampling to 1.6 global and force ASW at 45FPS In DCS lower PD all the way to .50. Yes .50 Turn off all shadows (for now) Set MSAA to 2x Set visible distance to high, water high, textures high, terrain textures high, trees to 70%, preload radius 150,000, grass clutter low, chimney smoke off, cockpit global lighting off terrain object shadows off, cockpit global lighting off and rain drops on. I flew the CV1 for a year and a half with an i7 6700K to start, then a 7700K and a 1080Ti. These are the settings I used before I completely upgraded and they were the best I'd seen. Anything over 1.8 PD isn't really noticed and I would back down to it if nothing else. MSAA at 2x will make a huge difference but you won't be able to run that at anything over 1.6 with your 6700K even at 4.0Ghz.

Lol, I have to agree. I see it when loading into servers. Luckily, that's all!

My current settings. Slot 2 is the Hornet and slot 3 is the Viper. For the Hornet I don't change any curves or saturation. For the Viper I use -10 Pitch Curve and 90 X Saturation. For Roll I use -18 Curve and 90 X saturation. I was able to get the script running the ports the deflection limit beeps into the headset. It's already working to break me torquing too hard on the stick. It's annoying as hell lol. Very cool though. If we only had a Grippen module! I went to control panel/hardware settings/right click on FSSB and choose gaming controller settings. When you do it brings up a box with all your controllers in a list. From top down they are numbered 0,1,2,3,4 etc. The FSSB was the second down so it's number 1. Simply put that in the script if it isn't zero and run it.

I can't see me using the FSSB for anything other than a FBW or modern fighter aircraft. As you say it's just not intuitive for me. I don't have an issue with the weight but aiming gun shots in a space environment seems like it would be very difficult if there's no play in the stick. I'd switch back to the Warthog. Although I've been looking at the Kosmosima lol. I just don't fly anything other than DCS right now. Also, Elite Dangerous just doesn't do it for me which is odd. In the late 90's I flew Freespace 2 online as much or more than that other Viper sim. That game was EPIC!
