  1. I have both pitch and roll set to -18 for the Viper right now. I had to lower the amount of pressure needed to move the "jet" in all respects from my settings in the Hornet. The odd part is I see the stick in the Viper moving its full 1/4" deflection but the jet hardly moved. As you've said this is most noticeable in the roll rate. Therefore I don't see it as an FSSB issue but a Viper issue. I'll paste my current settings for the Viper this evening. While flying the Viper on our wing server last night I had just taken out two M2000's when a 2 ship of 27's spawned in about 50 miles away and hot. I was down to 1 slammer so I closed with them, fired on the lead 27 and hauled ass to Khasab, Winchester except for guns. Of course the 27 gave chase so I ducked in and out of the mountains to to deny him a missile WEZ as long as possible. Finally he was within 2 miles and I turned into him expecting to get shot it the face but he didn't fox. Then we began a 5 minute long turning fight in which I somehow scored some gun hits on him. Once I reversed on him I never lost my positioning. It was an epic turning fight in both the vertical and horizontal. My gun shots didn't kill him before I ran out so I stayed on his 6 for so long he eventually leveled out and headed home! lol I've never had that happen! There's no way the 18 could have stayed in that fight. I would never have been able to regain energy when the 27 would crank on the G's to bleed speed. So, I'm liking my current settings :D I'm just afraid I'm going to break the FSSB!
  2. @Supmua. How how much force do you put on the stick on average? In other words, how often do you hear it beep either 80-90% of deflection or 100%?. I've set mine up in the Viper to be very responsive once it breaks off center but I tend to torque the hell out it when merged or defending SAMS lol. You've had yours a while now, would you say the internal mounting is still solid? I'm worried about longevity, not because of the product but because of how I use it. There is a script on the Real Simulator forums for sending the beep sounds through the headset but I haven't gotten it to work. I'm not exactly sure how to identify if my stick is seen by windows as 0 or 1 or whatever. That would definitely help me be more aware of my inputs. It's hard to break old habits!
  3. Has everyone noticed the loading screen is back? It's prettier but still annoying.
  4. You do not need them at all for DCS and you can now use the button under the headset to adjust SteamVR settings like the camera.
  5. This happened to me today. We switched missions on our squad server and when I loaded in to the new mission my face was against the hud. I change the default keystrokes for cockpit camera view to the arrow keys on the keyboard and they've always worked but today they did not. So I went into settings and pressed the arrow keys and it changed to cockpit camera move up, down, forward and back like it should. However, when I went back into the jet they weren't working. Even after I did a repair it didn't seem to fix it. Then I decided to use RCNTRL RSHFT 4 and 6 to move side to side and that worked. Then all of a sudden the arrow keys worked again........ Weird..
  6. Agreed, that's why you normally fly in MRM mode. Dogfight is for Within Visual Range. It's always better to get them much farther away. I was explaining the modes the Viper has that are similar to the 18's AACQ not discussing ACM tactics
  7. Yes. But you probably will not hear anything else lol. If it's in stock you'll have it in about 4 days if you live in the States. For the F16SGRH I'm still waiting. They build them by hand and I have no idea how long that takes.
  8. I've been able to do a max climb to 30,000 in the Viper without dropping below 300 knots. This is loaded with 6 120C's. I might make it to 28,000 in the Eagle with the same loadout before I drop below 300 knots. I'll start the climb after takeoff when I hit 500 knots CAS and then pitch up to 30-35 degrees on the ladder. I've always thought the Eagle felt under powered in the time to climb metric. Both it and the Viper should have similar performance and they're both designed to be close to 1:1 TWR. The Viper most definitely out accelerates the Eagle and has a much faster response to throttle movement. In fact it might even out perform the 29 but I haven't checked.
  9. I did not know that!
  10. The Dogfight switch has three positions that are Dogfight, MRM (medium range missile mode) and NAV/AG. Leaving out NAV/AG mode (center position) you have two A2A master modes that configure the jet for either BVR or WVR. MRM is the BVR master mode. When you slide the DF switch to this mode the jet brings up 120's and puts the radar into RWS mode. Once in MRM the rmissile is slaved to the radar and is looking wherever your radar cursor is in conjunction with the altitude you are searching. Once locked the target parameters are fed to the missile. You can however MAD DOG the missile without a lock and the missile will try to find a target on its own. When you slide the switch to Dog Fight master mode, the jet configures you for a WVR engagement out to 10 miles. It will automatically call up the AIM9's if you have them and within I think 1 mile your EEGS funnel will come up on the HUD. In this mode, the Viper will automatically lock up the first thing it sees in front of you. This mode is the closest thing to AAQ in the Hornet. However, there are 4'submodes to the Dogfight master mode: 1. 30/20 which is anything you can see within the HUD. 2. BORE which is like 30/20 but with a narrower/more focused radar scan along the line of the cross in the HUD. 3. 10/60 which scans 10 degrees below the nose and 60 degrees above the nose or LIFT LINE. 4. SLEW which presents a circle on the HUD that represents where the radar is looking. This allows you to move the focused radar beam to a target in the HUD without having to move the jet. All of these modes in Dogfight Master Mode are auto acquire, meaning the radar will hard lock the first thing it sees. Inside 10 miles use Dogfight, outside 10 miles MRM.
  11. I think the default number in the box is 64 which is the average IPD according to Oculus and HP lol. Even though we all know that the IPD setting in DCS does not refer to the distance of our pupils but to the size of the pit, I believe someone at DCS did. Why else put a number in the box that corresponds to an average IPD. It's too coincidental to not consider the possibility. That said, the simple fact is, not all of us see each pit in VR as the same size we perceive it in the real world. For me, the A-10C has never looked right. It's either too big or too small. I could never get all of the HUD symbology to fit within the HUD to where I did not have to drastically sit up or lower my head. I believe this is because the A-10C was pre DCS world as we know it now and before consideration was given to VR. The IPD of 51 to 55 that works for me in the Viper is HUGE in the 15. While the Hornet looks good to me at about 58. Again the 15 is an FC3 aircraft and pre current DCS world. The only recent module I have that looks odd is the Mirage. I can never get the throttle to line up while keeping everything else ok as well. Tonight I tried 55 in the Viper and when I first got in the pit it looked to be the right height off the ground. However, when I landed it was back to the height of a golf cart lol. Oh well. Lastly, I don't check the box to force IPD. When I've tried it, the load screen and GUI ibecame fish eyed. I simply change the number and it works.
  12. As far as inside the cockpit goes it's perfect for me @ between 51 and 55 IPD (worldview). It's looking outside at the ground that it seems very low. The 16 IS a small jet but you wouldn't want to jump out of the pit to the ground. I'm 6 feet tall and my head comes just at or above the middle of the fuselage. It feels like I'm looking out of my 4Runner right now regardless of IPD.
  13. Something else I've noticed is the jet sits too low to the ground. It looks like I'm in a T-37 Tweet. I've tried different IPD settings but it doesn't seem to change the height.
  14. For the most part I'm ok with the visuals other than the MFD's and HUD. I have the Index and after flying the 18 for the last few months, then switching to the Viper the difference for me was pretty stark. Now that I've had it and spent way too many hours in it I'm ok with most of it but MFD's are dark, almost like they have a masking effect on them and are only crisp and shiny when the sun hits them. Even then the contacts are very faded. The HUD has a diffused look and is not sharp or crisp at all when compared to the 18 and definitely not when compared to the Harrier. This is what the MFD's should look like.. this is also a very cool video... watch till the end.
  15. I'd like to use the slap switch instead of running one of the preset programs on the CMDS panel. In all 4 program settings, 10 chaff and 10 flare are put out. In order to conserve chaff and flare I'd prefer to use the slap switch which puts out one of each. I can't find the key bind for it though. The switch does work when pressed in the jet. Is it available?
  16. By using TMS up in RWS once you will bug the target like in TWS but you will be in SAM mode (situation awareness mode). TMS up one more time and you will be in STT. To unlock the target you need to TMS down twice. If you TMS down once you will be back in SAM mode.
  17. High AOA, basically your too slow.
  18. The Ant Elevation should stop moving when you stop turning the rotary but it doesn't. You have to move it back to the center position for it to stop. If you're using a rotary which is how the real TQS adjusts elevation, set a curve of about 20-30. This will slow the rate of antenna movement, then center the rotary.
  19. When in Dogfight mode the Viper will lock the first target it sees within 10 miles regardless of what missiles you have onboard. That IS NOT happening now as you said. Also, you should be able to switch from DFGT to MRM or MRM to DFGT while locked on a contact and it stays locked but switches from AIM9 to AIM 120 or the reverse. It's one of many bugs that I'm sure will be sorted but anoying as hell right now.
  20. I agree and am seeing the same thing, although this is exactly what I expected. This is one module I'm confident will get a lot of attention. With all previous aircraft releases ED was doing something that either hadn't been done or had been done but was years ago and forgotten. That is most definitely not the case with the Viper. There is already a benchmark. There is already a standard of what to expect in a Block 50 F-16CJ. I'm pretty sure ED understands that if they half ass this one there will be hell to pay. Ive been flying the Viper for 20 years for free. I've no problem paying for the VR version minus a campaign but the jet BETTER be as good or better. Anyway, I won't start bitching for at least six months lol.
