Seems that Mi-24 is never gonna be a module where ED is gonna be "concentrating on" as modules come out of nowhere and overlap on top of this project that is suppose to be under development "ages" ago. I understand some how the trajectory; as easy as it is to see how many users are in the forum inside each module every day. You can see a lot of interest that remains on A-10 and Ka-50, modules that just have been updated, what seems logic. Hornet and F-14 continue to create a lot of interest also so there they come the updates and fixes. For the modules that have few visits in the forum, lets face it, nothing goes forward, what makes total sense in a commercial way of thinking. Of course, Huey or Mi-8 Cockpit updates, bug fixes or new feature implementation.... That is just a dream for us fans of these old modules, because we are few compared to the massive attention of the birds that continue in development right now. Still... Feels very sad to be at the end of the line, place that seems to fit perfectly for our awaited Mi-24 :[.

Hi Pikey, Autodesk won't give any license until you can prove to them that you are part of a certified course or school. I know it because I was a Maya teacher for a certified 3D school a couple of years ago and I owned one of those licenses you speak about. Files were not compatible between commercial and student/learning versions, still, as you point out, could be exported to other formats Fbx, Obj etc. However, this "workaround" is more focused on Static Objects as any complex setup with animation or blend shapes could be a nightmare to transfer to any other platform, what makes the whole point of looking for a functional exporter for a platform like Blender. In any case, working in any mod hoping somebody else with a paid license is gonna export them for you seems indeed pretty sad. Even more if "assuming you have something that is worth the effort for" is going to be for someone else to judge... There are tons of mods here and there, liveries, Scripts... Some have much better quality than others, this does not mean that people do not enjoy them when they are shared. I think it is for the users to judge, and they won't if the work of those with no resources does not see the light. I agree that "modelers" might not be the issue and that there might be fewer developers that are interested in important topics like flight dynamics. In any case, we have plenty of professional modules here in DCS, from which I own most of them, but we lack tons of props (many of those we have that are really outdated), animated civilians and troops, buildings (like these nicely done Static Radar Domes by BB_BB) and whatever people would like to drop in (have seen recently even some Dinosaurs :]). Blender version unofficial addon is over there yes, there are people like DoctorStrop taking it to the limits with his quite advanced BD-5J experiment, (still, the addon is not supported by ED and has tons of limitations): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNZMg6_mPI5R9I6o2A4uE2w/videos?view=0&sort=dd&shelf_id=2 Addon was developed years ago by NickD aka ndevenish and has been quite recently forked by madwax who seems that is working on a new version for Blender 2.8 Giving the chance to a lot bigger group of people to do some stuff with a Blender "official" integration for DCS can not be a step back guards. :music_whistling:

Right! Full Cockpit RT Reflections (not only exterior env dome) drove by RoughMet textures could be just Sooo Sweet. :D

I agree 100% with you guys. Nvidia, Epic Games (Unreal), Ubisoft... They are already trowing money to Blender, because, believe it or not, it is the future, it is already the future NOW. Hundreds of downloads every day from DCS user files pages means obviously High Interest in more content. More content means more fun, more possibilities, bigger community... that translates quite obviously in more money for ED at the EOD. ED creating a fully working and supported Blender Exporter seems like a logical step. Personally, I refuse to install a pirate version of 3D Max to be able to create content for DCS. Autodesk giant is "renting" his licenses for huge amounts of money, money that I do not want to pay. Why should I? if I have a much better and stable software for free? Blender is not Photoshop's Gimp (no disrespect for GIMP here, I think we know what I am talking about). Blender is All Mighty !!! :]

It is in the [REPORTED] status actually, lets hope for a "lucky" hotfix. Fingers cross :] https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=263716

[RESOLVED]EmbarkToTransport Task Broke
Grajo replied to shnicklefritz's topic in Mission Editor Bugs
Hi, after the update, "Airborne Troops" units, do not appear under the menu anymore. Before, also, vehicle group did not need to be assign. Even when assigning Mi-8 to troops embark way point, does not make any difference. Speaking about options: Could 2 commands (mapeable button or key) be added with the options: 1. Embark all (all units with the embark task in the defined ME radius will embark) 2. Disembark all (all units inside the helo will disembark) This could be a great addition to improve the immersion and make this more seamless and simple to use :music_whistling: Thank you -
Yes, I read something about it in the update changes. - What does this mean in practice inside ME? - Is there now a new "working" way to do the troop embark/disembark without using more complex ways like MOOSE scripting (that is out of my reach)? - Are the 2.5.5 version troop transport missions gonna work again without doing any change to them in a near future?

Did not know about looking "old" in VR as I do not have the luck to check it by myself.. In any case, I would not complain if we get that kind of update at some point :smilewink: That would be just great of course!!!

Great!!! Little question about Mi-8 development: Is planed, for a near future (this year), any PBR or Normal update/implementation for Mi-8 model and Cockpit? I think the Mi-8 external and cockpit models are still, after all these years, hanging on very well (top quality IMO). But her shading is quite behind from the "New Standards" for example, the amazing texture work in the Hornet. I say this because I am planing to do some PBR cockpit (as I did for Exterior Model) and would like to know if is better to wait for a possible update (new model or normal map support) or in the other hand the mod could be "welcome" if no updates are planed so far. Thanks for the feedback :].

Yep! Seems like cockpit lights, white and red are not working well at all (especially the red as you show in the screenshot Akiazusa. The "glare" in the glass can be removed, almost completely, editing the texture alpha and making it completely black (of course, this removes any dust or opacity detail information....) Still, the gun sight is blown up and very washed out and interior lighting would be nicer if it was a lot less bright with lights on in night conditions. I hope this gets the attention of the devs for the upcoming hotfixes.

You mean, in your monitor. In mine before and now, anything above 2.00 gamma looks almost white :). I have a pretty bad monitor you know... :[. Whenever I wanna grade anything I do it in the Eizo of the job, but of course, they do not allow me to install DCS there....

An option to set bombs delay is really a long waited feature for several modules. +1
-
Here a shot took a few days ago with 2.5.5 and another one that has been taken right now with 2.5.6. *Same graphics settings for both ( gamma 1.5 ) A base gamma increase is evident on a first look, which also seems more natural for the human eye given the lighting circumstances.
-
I did not try anything at night, but the overall feeling for me is that the whole lighting engine has been reworked or heavily tweaked: - Overall "gamma up" impression, in the beginning, after, noticed that was not just about "gamma up" at all. - PBR shader behavior of modules seems much more accurate/similar to other render engines and in my opinion much better than before. - External aircraft lights (tips, taxi etc does not pass through cockpit any more !!!) This is really a very long waited for feature, thank you very much! - Being inside clouds feels better somehow. - Cockpit daylighting looks much better to me, Mi-8 or Spitfire for example (I do not use Cockpit GI) - The difference for exterior lighting between the surfaces in the sunlight and those in the shadow seems more balanced and "realistic". - Deserts in any daylight condition look just amazing with an improved haze in the background. Hope is not just the Hype :].

Question: Troops pickup from ships
Grajo replied to Doc3908's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Standard Embark command seems not to work anymore after 2.5.6 :[ -
And again... :cry::cry::cry:

Imagine how "fine" control I have with the tiny throttle wheel of the Gladiator MkII (that is integrated in the base of the joy).... Makes sense that a longer range would do wonders under collective and cyclic control. Maybe one day.... after some "few hundred" bucks :]

Add normalmaps when module won't have it (natively) ?
Grajo replied to Mav783's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Thanks for making this clear. I hope that an update from the Devs arrives in a near future :music_whistling: -
Add normalmaps when module won't have it (natively) ?
Grajo replied to Mav783's topic in How To Mod for DCS World
Hi Mav783, Rough/Metal/AO is possible. Adding new images with the texture file name ending like: _RoughMet with enable the RoughtMet workflow and override the old spec workflow. For the Normal maps I have pretty much the same questions as you, but I have made plenty of test about adding it to models that do not have it originally and none of then have worked out... My guess is that if the model itself does not support Normals, there is sadly no way to add them. Please anybody confirm this if possible. Could the Devs add this feature to the older models (like for example Su-25 or Mi-8 Cockpit), so we can add Normal/depth maps to any present model in a similar way we can add RoughMet ??? This would be just a great feature for moders and livery makers. Even if models are not updated with actual normal map textures, could just be updated so they have a "connection" to had them a Normalmap like in the case of RoughMet maps? I would like to do a livery for my beloved Mi-8 Cockpit and having the ability to add Normal/depth maps to it would be just heaven! :] Thank you -
Nice cockpit surfacing ! Will it come with a civilian unarmed variant like Mi-8 and Huey + Sling Loading capabilities)? This would make this new helo a lot more interesting, at least for me :smilewink:. Looking forward to more updates.

A basic, UNOFFICIAL - Blender .edm Addon
Grajo replied to NickD's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Copy that dolfo! I keep experimenting the same problem in every model I do... Some normal problem? I guess, but no clue about where is coming from or how to fix it . Here the same model with side and top lighting; note that top lighting (13:00) results in something similar like a shadow... Side lighting (08:00) seem like top lighting should look like... Normals are not inverted because this will results in back faces being not renderable. Somebody, any idea bout why this happens or how to fix it? I am going nuts but I do not find any solution  -
3D Objects users would like to d/l?
Grajo replied to salsantana's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
Yep, definitely civilians are missing! Animated rescue team for Helo SAR missions and some civilians would be just great. Imagine some rescue team deployed down the rope from a Mi-8 or Huey that would be a blast !!! Something like in the video below... -
