  1. If you're a combat flight sim fan, sod the demo. Just get it. If you're not, wait for the demo, be seduced and just get it.
  2. I have a quad processor so I can't tell you specifics on a dual but I was startled when I came to visit the forum and I saw the heading as well as the rejoicing that the English version has been released. Downloaded, installed, affinity is working exactly the same as the Russian version. I ran one of the combat training missions and got a ~30-40% bump by setting the affinity to 1,2,3 cores - I always deselect cors 0, it's likely busy running a number of OS tasks. Same results as the Russian version. I'd suggest the only differences between the two .exe's is the language so I wouldn't have expected any different.
  3. I bought the Russian version early - for $25 it was a steal. At $49US, it's still cheaper than I would pay for an off the shelf title like COD4 (for instance). Combined it equals about the price I have to pay for a normal game. I bought the Russian version fully expecting to have a sim that I couldn't utilise to its fullest because I am an impatient schmuck. For what it is, $49US is a *bargain*. I'd have paid double in a heartbeat. To those complaining that they wanted a free or reduced upgrade from the Russian version, I was under no impression that buying the Russian version entitled me to anything more than having a copy of the Russian version. In fact, I'm sure it was suggested many times that you would still have to purchase the English version on release to have the training videos in English and the comms in English. DCS clearly got a wiggle on and released the product well ahead of the February/March schedule. Kudos, now I can enjoy some training missions instead of flying around aimlessly with just a big goofy grin on my face.
  4. Much to my surprise I tried the multi-core trick on my Vista64 box and it makes a marked improvement. If I pause the sim, alt-tab out and change the affinity from 0 to 1, 2, 3 - I get an 18fps increase on the spot. I haven't flown around to monitor the difference between the two at any detailed length but it aboslutely gives me an fps boost of ~20%
  5. I've tried to scan most of the thread for the answer but I haven't found anything as yet... My main screen is 1360x768 42" flat panel, my secondary monitor is a 19" 1280x1024. Has anyone been able to get it working without it stretching one of the displays so they operate independently of each other?
  6. Mine seems pretty stable, perhaps it's a frame rate issue? What's your FPS when you're panning around the cockpit?
  7. So the boxed version will have a printed manual? I already have the Russian version but I'd probably spring for the boxed version instead of the digital download if that's the case.
  8. Works fine on my Vista x64 SP1 install as well.
  9. Did you do a run as administrator when you did the install?
  10. The occupants of that car may well develop lung cancer many years from now...
