  1. I would assume it doesn't matter. Since the aircraft aren't set to be piloted by humans, it's reasonable to suggest that it would act the same.
  2. I set the aircraft to 'take off from ramp'. I don't know if this is a new switch since I wasn't doing that much with the ME prior to this but if you click 'Uncontrolled' on the right hand pane of whatever aircraft, it will remain cold until you task it. There does appear to be a bug if you set up a flight of two or more. I've only done it a few times but I've tried to set up two in a flight and on tasking them with waypoints, one of the aircraft just makes a beeline in a random direction and never taking off and the other holds short of the runway holding up all further flights.
  3. Can see a lot of scope for directing AI flights and have managed to successfully task a cold AI flight from the parking area to destroy a target then RTB. I was able to achieve this by giving the AI a target area. They took their own flight path to the target, destroyed the vehicles in the area then RTB'ed. However, if you provide any waypoints for AI flights, they'll orbit the last waypoint you give them and I would presume would only RTB when bingo fuel. Is there a way to get them to RTB? When they RTB, they shut down and the pilot gets out and that flight can't be tasked again. Is there any way to have them rearm/refuel ready for another sortie? I figure a work around would be to have another AI spawn once an hour (or so) - don't know if this can be made conditional based on whether the AI landed successfully. Was very pleased that I could get cold AI up into the air which will help with CA vs CA battles on a smallish server in our squad. Actually make the battlefield a lot more alive - and a lot more deadly.
  4. Is it enabled in the mission?
  5. For me, the power is being able to direct the ground battle from your cockpit - at least for now. Instead of boring mission waypoints given to ground forces, you can direct them yourself. Have someone on the other side with CA and you've got a dynamic ground war going on underneath you. I'm eagerly awaiting 1.2.3 to see to what extent you'll be able to task allied AI flights.
  6. Though, I must add - watching a squad mate call out a target, fly low in an A-10, take out the target, seeing AA having a crack at him and see him escape into a valley while I was in the seat of a nearby jeep overlooking the battle was one of the coolest moments I've had simming.
  7. Agreed. Excellent for MP force vs force where the players on each side can move units to wherever they want and give attack orders. With 1.2.3 giving us the ability to task flights, it'll expand the horizons so much farther. I rarely jump into a vehicle, but the ability to order vehicles and the fog of war makes me feel a lot more connected to the battlefield.
  8. ..and I answered your question by advising you that it did work when I used it but no longer use it so I cannot verify if the latest version works.
  9. Was likely missed in the flurry, respectfully ask again.. Do aircraft need to be in the air before you can task them or if you have a bunch of aircraft at a base, can you task them to take off an complete a mission through CA? Thanks.
  10. Yes, I had it working fine - though since purchased iControlDCS.
  11. With the ability to give aircraft waypoints and targets, can you instruct aircraft on the ground to take off or do they need to be in the air already?
  12. Use something like 'steam mover' that sets up a junction point from where you installed the game and copies the files to your SSD. That way, I can move whatever games I'm currently playing to and from the SSD with a few simple clicks. While its focus was on Steam games, you can select any directory you wish to junction to your SSD.
  13. Couple of missions in, haven't had the Windows 8 crash after exiting. Appears to be fixed.
  14. I think it would be sensory overload having mouse to control the aircraft as well as using it within the clickable cockpit.
  15. Perhaps it needs to spawn its own thread (or perhaps it already has its own thread somewhere I haven't seen) but are there ways to use things like Prepar3d to import map data into DCS?
  16. Be aware that this is entirely in the hands of the mission designer. They could just as easily set up the CAP for your air assets instead of you calling them in. Personally, I think it's a nice touch that I can call for aid if I want/need it.
  17. Why don't you just install it wherever you want it to be installed? All my ED stuff is under G:\Eagle Dynamics\
  18. Running a 46" Samsung LED TV and before it a 40" Samsung LCD TV. No issues at all. Love the huge size. :D
  19. New stealth A-10C?
  20. Since installing 1.2.1, I'd say that I would crash 90% of the time when going into MP - was only 5 servers up when I eventually got in there. Since 6120 - probably been in a dozen times including a couple just then to test and not a single crash. Should get around to playing again, some time soon - been waiting for FC3 to get back into the swing of things.
  21. LOMAC - Installed. :D
  22. I originally had a Cougar and I ended up snapping the stick. I replaced it with an X52 around the same time A10-C came out. I just couldn't wrap my head around DMS, TMS, China Hat, Coolie Hat on a stick that didn't have them. I abandoned A-10C When CA was announced, I knew that I was going to want to get back into it because the idea of commanding and/or sitting in vehicles was a great appeal. I went out and bought a Warthog. Plug and play, just worked in the sim (apart from having to modify the trim hat to actually trim instead of pan view) and provided the references I needed in order to know what someone was talking about when they said China Hat Forward Long. Great stick, highly recommended. Doh - Oh, you bought it. Good luck with it. :D
  23. I used to use the cheat but got annoyed a few times when I'd pop into F10 to start moving units around and come back and Master Caution was going off its tits and nothing was started. I did the tutorial a few times then had a checklist on my iPad that I followed for about half a dozen starts. Now can do it with my eyes closed and took a few shortcuts. Just have to wait for that alignment, sadly otherwise I'd be up in about a minute. ;)
  24. I had the same thing happen which I thought was strange for a familiarisation flight. Landed, onto the Interphone for arming, back up and snotted that SAM. :D
  25. You can punch L/L co-ordinates into the CDU that you get from your ground forces spotting enemy positions on the F10 map and create a mission waypoint that you can slave your TGP to. That's what I've been doing recently. I tend to find that after I go through the process of getting a target from JTAC, I can do the job myself - unless there's a specific tasking required from JTAC.
