  1. The hornets lights can get pretty bright when turned up all the way. It's nice on the ground but I can see why you'd want them dim while flying
  2. The hornet will not fog-up/mist inside the cockpit(at least on the ground) like see when the f16s are on the ground.
  3. I have asked this same question for years lol. i think it has to to with the bru32 and the pylons(the location of cannon plugs in pylons)
  4. There is still a dent on the Lincoln round down from that landing
  5. You are correct in the fact that we Plane Captains are the equivalent of AF crew chiefs. Except our job is basically the lowest in the squadron (I was a plane captain at 18, ask a crew chief how old he is) . And we know more about the jets than the pilots
  6. I wont lie. The engines/apu starting is probably the most bothersome part about the startup in game for me. Every time i see a video with it i think that is just not right. i have probably been apart of at least 700 if not more hornet startups as a plane captain. In the US Navy you are giving the same finger movement hand signals the whole time. You tell the pilot to crank engine 1/2 and wiggle your wrists with either one or two fingers(depending on the engine) till the pilot gives the thumbs up that it is at proper idle rpm. it just seems fast in the videos i have seen. that's not even counting when its cold outside where it can add 5 to 10 more seconds. its a bit nit picky i will admit. but i show my co workers these videos and say how amazing it is (trying to get them to join) and they see things like this. and call it out.
  7. The coco part of the launch and and the fact that you do the ibit on every launch not just in the cold have been the only thing I have really noticed that was a little off. And I think the engines start to fast, but I get why they would speed that up. What squardon where you in?
  8. The flaps are pretty steep when your looking down from the wing. Plus if the stabs are really dusty you can get some good speed. But the best part is if the jets on fire and the pilot is unconscious the 020 tells you to pick him up and slide him down the nose.
  9. Naa. Sliding down the horizontal stabs it fun.
  10. As long as it's only implemented view ground crew in radio menu. As there is no way to drop the ladder from inside the cockpit.
  11. That was a plane captain who polished that canopy. I did this for the first 2 years of my naval service.
  12. The super hornets has the same as the legacy. 2 ddi's and one mpcd on the bottom
  13. I watched 3 mins and it looks like your average reality TV show on mtv. I can't take this serious. Maybe I'm jaded because of service but it looks like a joke and super lame.
  14. The hornets does only use cylindrical tubes. I have loaded buckets with all chaff or all flare. So it is 100% possible to have 120 of one or the other. Normally you'd split it somewhere for obvious reasons.
  15. The pilots heads do seem bobble when launched. At least for the first initial release from the hold back. It might be their whole body bouncing but all you can really see is the helmet from down below on the flight deck. I distinctly remember this because the first time i saw it i had a little laugh.
  16. Chaff and flare are the same size. One isn't larger than the other. The problem is when loading the buckets you cant just throw them in there all Willy nilley. There are diagrams you have to follow. The buckets have 2 knobs you can turn to set what program is loaded and when you load the bucket into the housing the jet reads what programs the buckets are loaded with
  17. Carrier landings First time a saw a 16 with 120's on the wingtips I asked my Gunner why we didn't do that. (we being vfa-2/super hornets) He just said it was because of the way we land on carriers. Plus the wing fold transmissions are garbage anyways.
