  1. We already have DCS exporting instruments on the network. There is still no solution to exports screens the same way! After many years of experimentation with glass cockpits (Helios, Ikarus and others) I am disapointed with the performance impact such setups have on DCS, running everything on the same computer. It is not only a problem of raw computing power, or rendering power, it is also an issue of timing and fluidity. These complimentary softwares, glass cockpit, voice attack, headtracker, bassshakers etc interfere with the stellar performance of DCS itself. A rough 'Seat of the pants' estimate would be that I am losing at least 10% performance. If we could have MFDs and other screen natively exporting to a client computer, we could offload all the cockpit functions to it. I believe that it would be very beneficial to pilots who build pits such as ourselves. I have seen professionnal simulators where multiple computers are running separate parts of the simulation in a network topology, I hope it is the future of DCS to implement such a model. So please devs, I am begging you on my knees to implement this feature. :worthy:
  2. I guess weirdness is in the eye of the beholder...
  3. What would you put at the place where you would have the mfds and the hud, a black hole?
  4. If you remove the cockpit you cannot see the wings, canopy and other visual cues so Im keeping it even if I have all the controls mapped to a glass cockpit.
  5. Anybody noticed that the stickyness is gone now? Much better on my end!
  6. +1 here! ahem.... none. If it is a gaming computer who cares. If I have to protect a corporate network I would lean on a corporate solution just to CYA. But they wouldn't be allowed to play DCS :smilewink: oh boy some folks are going to flame me for this
  7. Ahaha! fortunately for us all you had an equal amount of both!
  8. Now this is a refreshing thread! Robert31178 thank you for your example it takes courage to do the right thing.
  9. Ok forget what I said earlyer on maybe being by design this is driving my freakin nuts!
  10. I figured it was correct modeling... Maybe some dev can chime in? To my mind, on a moving surface you would want to have just a bit of brake pressure so that you don't accidentally roll off the deck when the boat tips.
  11. By adjusting the settings I was able to tame it down while cruising, some values are at 100% and some other go as low as 1, with any numbers in between. If it helps I could post all my values. I was wondering if the buffeting cues are implemented, is it possible that it is currently constant? The cockpit shakes like crazy, but no noticeable difference in the vibration... I would greatly appreciate that this would be implemented correctly as I rely on it to push the envelope.
  12. The airframe 'speaks' to you when it's shaking. I found it very intuitive to feel the edge of the envelope with the buffeting. Without it, you would not know when your over the knife's edge... flatspin time!
  13. Yes! Thanks I manages to find the beta download link. It is amazing how I cannot even enjoy flying without it anymore. Now the bird speaks to me!
  14. Now 40, back then around 10-12 I guess... What I distinctly remember, is playing NES Topgun _all_the_time_ and building some kind of cockpit with chairs and bedsheets, putting on my dad's big headset and aviator glasses. Now that I think about it, I always wanted to go back at that place and time when I was truly happy. From that point on I have always felt something was missing in my life. Until today.
  15. Funny, I went for a few circuits this morning (not on a carrier mind you) and found the bird incredibly stable and pretty easy to fly, like a sportscar. The speed is mind boggling though! Had to pull way back on the throttle for low speed maneuvering. With my rig, trackIR and a 100" diagonal projector screen, I have great situational awareness.... maybe that's the reason? Not looking at instruments at all I was able to nail the landing on my very first try.
  16. Hummm... F14 no joy here. Guess I'm doing something wrong?
  17. No! LOL sorry to have wasted so many bytes on such a simple matter! That did the trick. Thank you for your patience!
  18. Curious, I tried searching but cannot find anything about this. Installed F14B this morning YAY!!!!!!!! Took it for a spin, omfg! But... no rendering on mirrors, I see just the grayish background and the lighting. Tried deleting the shader caches and repairing DCS and still no go. Anybody has a clue?
  19. I quickly put together a design using the snipping tool in windows to get dials from Heatblur`s F14 online pdf manual. I wanted to start by making a crude design just to see where everything can be placed on a 1920x1080 layout. I am also drawing new frames, backgrounds etc to make it into a fully working F14 ikarus profile. To get them animated, I guess I need to get some code in the executable (ikarus.exe) or in a separate library? This is the reason I was inquiring about the source code. I've been developing for a long time so I guess it would not be so complicated for me to add to the existing code base. I am currently using a modified A10C Ikarus profile on a touchsreen and it is great! Since I am getting the F14 on wednesday there is no way I can fly it without a profile so if anybody want`s to help it would be nice.
  20. Sorry it took some time I was busy putting online a proxy for my webstuff so here it is : Ugly isn't it :) But from here I will make a grid to place the stuff around. I am also in parallel slowly making some frames and stuff as this sample : Hopefully I will pick up some speed as I go along. This is going to take a while...
  21. And another question, If I am going to make a tomcat profile it is going to need new instruments. Where can I get the sources to hack at them?
  22. Anybody working on the F14? I have started a mockup in photoshop, but if somebody else is also doing it I would gladly work in team as it is going to take a lot of time.
  23. Hi Andre I am a very happy user of your software! ....sooooo when the F14 comes out this wednesday, can we expect to also have you extension ready or will we use the generic set?
  24. Excellent work! ...you understand now that you cannot _not_ make it into a product some day do you? What has been seen cannot be unseen :smilewink:
