  1. 1 is the selected 'To' SP. It is slightly confusing that it is shown on the DED INS alignment page, as it is not the position of SP 1 which you are entering, you are entering the current location of the aircraft (SP zero).
  2. Just to clarify, we will be getting the Targeting Infra-Red for Night elements of LANTIRN, but not the Low Altitude Navigation part? i.e. the stand alone TGP?
  3. Dubai is 3.5M according to Wikipedia. Still way smaller than Cairo, though Dubai's metropolitan area of c600 sq mi, vs Cairo's 1000 sq mi, means Cairo is less than twice the size, but has a much higher population density.
  4. I would like the CPG sight image to be actually displayed in the sight, so that in VR I just lean over and look down the tube, rather than an immersion breaking transition to a flat screen sight.
  5. SU27 Flanker The Military Flight Simulator 1995 Computer Game In Box! | eBay Olivetti PCS 486 SX2 50mhz Socket 3 Cache Ms-Dos Retro PC Computer Vintage | eBay You're welcome.
  6. NTTR which used to be my best performing map is now one of the worst. I have reverted back to non-MT DCS for now as the janky shadows and performance stutters have made it a worse experience in VR than pre-MT. I'm sure optimisation and improvements will come, but I had hoped for better, or at least, the same, not worse performance with MT. It seems I am in the minority though. Everyone else seems to be reporting MT gains.
  7. As per the title really. I believe IRL the strobe pattern matches the position in the flight (lead flashes once, two flashes twice etc.) for easy ID at night, it would be good if we could set this in the ME.

  8. Countless hours playing that against my brother via a serial connection. Belt-fed AMRAAMs FTW!
  9. Yup. How it started... I still have the boxed versions of F-117A Nighthawwk, MFS 4.0 and Falcon 3.0 too. How far we've come.
  10. Mine's the 16GB card. nullHere's my Viper map for the Xbox controller, which I think works really well. The blue are common to most aircraft, so I only need to remember a few when switching between them.
  11. For sure you can hear it IRL, certainly with the masks I've used. Some of the more modern stuff might be quieter though.
  12. The C-23 Sherpa would be a great fit for DCS, given its short range, in-theatre role of rapid distribution of parts and personnel.
  13. I watched the recent Mirage F1 'Giraffe' video, and it made me realise just how sterile and quiet the in-cockpit audio environment is in DCS. The oxygen mask demand valve sounds on this video add a real dramatic aspect to the audio experience. It would be great if we could have a similar set of sounds incorporated into DCS, to add to the G-strain. Here's the video if anyone hasn't seen it yet.
  14. The above mentioned '10 Percent True' podcast series really is first class, and the best (IMHO) military aviation themed podcast available. Steve is very knowledgeable and a great interviewer. Highly recommended listening for any DCS'er.
  15. This short video is a great visualisation of how FOV changes our perception of speed.
  16. I have an Alienware X17 with the 3070 mobile card as I spend a lot of time overseas. I have a Rift S which comes with me, and a cooling stand, which I'm not sure is absolutely necessary for this laptop (but was for my previous one), but they are cheap and light so why not. It runs very smoothly (even in VR), but I am not afraid to dial settings back to increase performance, and I'm 99% single player. I use an Xbox controller which is actually a really good HOTAS alternative, let me know if you need help with any 'creative' mapping.
  17. Next update is 2.8.2.35759. 2+8+2+3 = 15. The 5th letter of the alphabet is E. - 15E! 75+9 = 84, 84 is 48 backwards, and the 48th TFW flies, you guessed it, F-15Es from Lakenheath. Coincidence? I don't think so. The numbers don't lie @BIGNEWY
  18. That's what VIPs and VRPs are for.
  19. I agree 100% that trees should suffer damage, but they should still have an influence on weapons. Proximity fuses can be triggered by heavy foliage, and it will make the correct setting of fusing delays and types more relevant, particularly when attacking through thick cover. Large limbs can deflect weapons too, and any hunter will know that even a tiny twig can cause enough of a deflection to turn a hit into a miss. Scale that up and it is obviously important that the effect trees have on weapon systems should not just be removed altogether, as that would be equally unrealistic. i.e. 100% penetrable trees is as unrealistic as 100% impenetrable trees.
  20. After the pop and pull-down and visually identifying the target I 'MSL STEP/NWS' to CCIP, pickle, and fly the planned pull out and egress to OAP2. Since starting this thread I have played with VRP/VIP and OAPs quite a bit and they are pretty useful for precise pop-up attacks.
  21. Thanks for looking into it. The CBU landed long, so I think that's why they survived that one. As you say, you've got to admire the balls on those cupola gunners returning fire though! Not sure I would have the nerve to stare down an offensive A-10 like that.
  22. Park it up on the ground and we'll see how she does.
  23. You are right, T-72s, not 64s (no 64s in DCS). I scored 180 hits on two target tanks at <1nm range, before taking 9 rounds of 12.7 in return, losing an engine and limping home. So at least one T-72 was still combat effective. I don't have a track but I've included my Tacview file FWIW. Tacview-20230127-183743-DCS-IA-A10CII-Caucasus-Easy East Georgia.zip.acmi
  24. Ha, yes. Understood. Defo tanks, not Apaches.
