I'm happy to report this version of the MT is far better in VR (Rift S) than the previous, essentially unusable (for me) version. Still not quite the night-and-day difference some are reporting, but at least I'm not seeing worse performance anymore.

Will have to give MT another try now. See if it shows any improvement for me.

I think the issue with this is that we are seeing more procedurally developed maps based on current imagery. This means historical maps will be much more work to develop given the lack of digital resources for the time period. I guess the flipside of that argument is that they don't necessarily need to be 100% accurate though. That said, I'd love to see a 70's Vietnam, 80's central Europe, 90's Iraq/Kuwait, etc. I wish the Sinai map was a 50s/60s version, and I really hope ED don't do something stupid with the Vietnam map and make a modern version.

The nuclear strike mission was (is?) a key mission of the F-15E, after it replaced the F-111 in the same role. And since ED have repeatedly stated that they will not have nuclear weapons in DCS, would it be possible to at least have an inert 'shape' for practice delivery?

I'm also interested to hear where this setting is please?

You can trim the saturation curve in DCS so it reaches maximum deflection at say, 50% of elevation, or however you feel it should move.

acknowledged MK-82/84 AIR/SNAKEEYE release speed limits
Lace replied to konradb3's topic in Weapon Bugs
Is that a physical restriction on the missile, or an operational restriction? There are a lot of things which are 'possible', but 'prohibited' IRL. Just because there are operational restrictions placed on something that doesn't necessarily mean it will not be possible to operate them outside of those limits, it's just at that point you are an unofficial test pilot with little legal protection. See also VNE, MTOW, MLW, etc. Edit - to answer the OP, I think that if there are launch envelope restrictions then they should be modelled in DCS as accurately as possible. -
Is possible to configure a second joystick as a rudder?
Lace replied to talvikko's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I would suggest using a modifier button on the throttle to change the function of the joystick X-axis from roll to rudder. Since in the Hornet (most modern jets) the rudder is only really used for NWS on the carrier deck. That way you don't need any extra hardware, you just hold the modifier button and move the stick for taxying. This is especially applicable to the Hornet and carrier ops as you aren't required to track the runway centreline on take-off or landing in the same way a conventional land-based aircraft does. -
ATC is undergoing a complete rework AIUI. At the moment I just operate under strict radio-silence EMCON and follow published procedures/SOPs as best I can, so I don't have to deal with it in its current state.

Request for 1600 ft wind speed to be adjustable
Lace replied to Bog9y's topic in Clouds & Weather System
The problem is that it works like this in real life. The way DCS does it a bit backwards, but does make sense if you want to define conditions on the ground for airfield ops. It is realistic that winds 'slack and back' (in the Northern hemisphere) when approaching the surface, so should be about 50% reduced, and backed by 30degrees (veer by 30 in the Southern hemisphere) compared with those at altitude. This is even more noticeable at night where the slacking and backing effect is increased due to colder, denser surface air, however DCS doesn't take this into account. The effect is reduced over water where there is less surface friction. Again, not modelled in DCS's atmosphere. Having these independently configurable wouldn't make sense from an atmospheric modelling point of view, as which ever one you choose to define will effect the other. It is just not realistic* to have the wind speed and direction the same at 1600ft as it is at the surface. * 99% of the time. As always there are some unusual cases where this might not be true. -
Yes, Batumi only has an elevation of 37ft IRL. Every millibar of pressure setting is approx 30ft change, so it won't take much deviation from a ISA to put you on a 'negative' altitude.

1 is the selected 'To' SP. It is slightly confusing that it is shown on the DED INS alignment page, as it is not the position of SP 1 which you are entering, you are entering the current location of the aircraft (SP zero).

Just to clarify, we will be getting the Targeting Infra-Red for Night elements of LANTIRN, but not the Low Altitude Navigation part? i.e. the stand alone TGP?

Dubai is 3.5M according to Wikipedia. Still way smaller than Cairo, though Dubai's metropolitan area of c600 sq mi, vs Cairo's 1000 sq mi, means Cairo is less than twice the size, but has a much higher population density.

I would like the CPG sight image to be actually displayed in the sight, so that in VR I just lean over and look down the tube, rather than an immersion breaking transition to a flat screen sight.

NTTR which used to be my best performing map is now one of the worst. I have reverted back to non-MT DCS for now as the janky shadows and performance stutters have made it a worse experience in VR than pre-MT. I'm sure optimisation and improvements will come, but I had hoped for better, or at least, the same, not worse performance with MT. It seems I am in the minority though. Everyone else seems to be reporting MT gains.

PC-9 a nice surprise.

Countless hours playing that against my brother via a serial connection. Belt-fed AMRAAMs FTW!

Yup. How it started... I still have the boxed versions of F-117A Nighthawwk, MFS 4.0 and Falcon 3.0 too. How far we've come.

Mine's the 16GB card. nullHere's my Viper map for the Xbox controller, which I think works really well. The blue are common to most aircraft, so I only need to remember a few when switching between them.

For sure you can hear it IRL, certainly with the masks I've used. Some of the more modern stuff might be quieter though.

noted Other transport Aircraft possibilities after C-130J?
Lace replied to carss's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The C-23 Sherpa would be a great fit for DCS, given its short range, in-theatre role of rapid distribution of parts and personnel. -
I watched the recent Mirage F1 'Giraffe' video, and it made me realise just how sterile and quiet the in-cockpit audio environment is in DCS. The oxygen mask demand valve sounds on this video add a real dramatic aspect to the audio experience. It would be great if we could have a similar set of sounds incorporated into DCS, to add to the G-strain. Here's the video if anyone hasn't seen it yet.
