Just did a quick test on the cauc map with hot start from parked jets. Had one f16 totally clean with 100% fuel and all the pylons that could be removed taken off. Took off and had no unwanted roll, all was good. Next jet I had loaded with stores but symmetrically(no TGP), 100% fuel. It did have a bit of unwanted left roll after take off, very subtle but it was there. It was 120c's on the tips, 9x's inboard, ter rack with 2 mk82's, and fuel bags. I had another jet loaded with GBUs and the tgp, so assymetrical(I was gonna try to get it trimmed but I guess that's another issue), but I didn't even test that one after the symmetrically loaded jet exhibited the left roll. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.

I mean the wheel/toe brakes. Like in the taxi/takeoff training mission when on the runway and you're instructed to hold the brakes and advance the throttle to 90%. The plane wouldn't stay still at that RPM even with the toe brakes fully depressed.
-
Can someone please post a picture of what the controls indicator with the left and right wheel brakes fully depressed should look like? I am having some sort of trouble where I cannot power up to 90 before take off because the wheel brakes aren't keeping me in place. On the controls indicator the gauge for them only goes up about a third of the way and I don't know if that's right or not. I have mfg crosswinds and in the calibration software everything seems good and in the DCS axis bindings menu the little white bar at the bottom of the bound axis seems to travel across that range properly. IDK what's happening. Thanks for any help.

[NOT A BUG] Instability with Uneven Loads?
Arbil replied to GhostLeadOne's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Agreed. Of course I have no clue how it would feel or behave IRL but I dropped one of those GBU16s that was loaded in the default taxi\take off training mission and I almost lost control of the plane because of how insane the unbalance was. Certainly wasn't prepared for it to be that extreme. -
Even on the ground with WonW you lose some of the throttle bottom end movement to the off/idle position. Then in the air with WoffW it is even more pronounced. If it was consistent with the Viper you wouldn't get any throttle deadzone when coming out of off into idle. Though the flight idle detent thing can still be argued separately.
-
In the falcon I get the whole range of my throttle once it's in idle. I love that. The hornet isn't like this, the bottom like 7 percent of my throttle movement is dead, unless I'm doing crazy user curves. I would prefer the hornet worked like the viper. Either way, I think you guys should be consistent between your modules on how this behaves. Absolutely loving the viper, great job everyone!

Hey. How's it going? Certainly we can get this on the docket within the next couple of updates to add a couple bindings for the course knob. Right? Axis option would be nice too but I'll take whatever with hopes that it will be soon. Thanks all. Just got back into the harrier after quite a while and I'm loving it. Great work all who are working on it. I suppose it is possible I missed the binding option and it's there. Let me know if that's the case, please.

To add to this, I had went through the whole extigent Riviera, excuse the spelling if wrong, user created f18 campaign before the last patch. Super great campaign btw. Came back to do it again and this time, post most recent patch, I couldn't get the jtacs to respond to anything even though the first time I went through the campaign everything worked perfectly. update: My issue was unrelated. Mine was caused by for whatever reason in those missions only being able to get jtac to respond on radio 1.

Get in a cold and dark jet. Just tap the canopy close switch. The audio will play through the whole sound file like the canopy is closing but it's not closed. Piggy backing off this, how should it actually behave? I know to open it I only have to tap the open switch briefly and it will open up automatically. Is that right when opening? How about closing? Should it be doing that too? Or is it WAD that it only has auto open and not closing?

Is this a thing that's modeled in game? Is it even something they have to worry about irl? If I latch my laser and forget to turn it off are there any adverse effects?

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the campaign. Making a new pilot in the logbook to start the campaign fresh. Repairing the install. The waypoints are all over 200nm away seemingly mixed up with unnamed waypoints between the named. The moving map does not appear after going to NAV mode with the INS, no matter how long it aligns. I posted in another thread(https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=246616) about having to make a new mission and not use old miz files to get certain weapons, like lgbs with the tpod, to be accurate. And that this is not the first time this has happened, I've experienced it with other aircraft/weapon combinations in the past, where I had to make a new miz files to get things to work correctly again. I believe that the same underlying problem is causing both that issue and the issue I am seeing in this campaign. Something is sometimes breaking in previously saved/post patch miz files after updates that has a wide range of consequences on many aspects of gameplay. Some variables getting saved/not saved, protected variables not being used correctly, or something of the sort, I'm only semi-competent at software engineering.
-
I'm convinced it's tied to custom missions from old patches. I've had this happen before with different aircraft. Where weapons deployment isn't accurate after a patch. I make a new custom mission and everything deploys fine. Nothing I try in my old miz files fixes the issue. I'll post one when I get home to see if anyone else gets the same behavior.
-
I'd at least like to have it deploy when I shut down the jet and pop the canopy. It's a tease to see it deployed when you first load in. But yea, having actual control over it would be ideal.

Nope.

Is there a way to set a 3rd SRS radio channel for Hornet?
Arbil replied to ravenzino's topic in DCS Modding
Is there anymore updated info than this? Are the MIDS radios something that SRS has mentioned? Something they can/will add? Would it even make sense? -
Are you asking about the actual automatic landing system or just the needles in your hud for the icls? The hornet's auto landing doesn't work yet if that's what you're asking about.

How to get height above ground when over 5,000ft barometric?
Arbil replied to imacken's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I think ATC will give it to you. The carrier ATC will give it to you right before take off. Can't remember if you get it when requesting landing. -
I just went into my main DCS install and copied the VFA-34 hornet skin folder from there to my saved games DCS folder and edited the one texture file in there. You saying that if I download the actual template I'll be able to see more layers with Gimp than I do now with the skin I copied over from the main install? Also, I made the text box and when I was finished I merged it down into the main layer. Is there a way to select that text box again so I can see the font size and whatnot I used on it? Or is it buried and lost in that main layer now?
-
So I added my name to the default VFA34 skin using Gimp. Just did it super basic using a text box. Does anyone have any tips to making that look more natural on the jet? I have 0 experience doing photo editing or anything like that. It looks pretty stark now. My first thought was to change the font color away from straight black and pull it back toward gray. Anything besides that font or maybe texture wise? IDK Thanks for any replies. edit; I went in and used the dropper and got the color from the bort number files and used that instead of the default black and that's a lot better. Beyond that I'll hope for tips from some of you more experienced folks, thanks all.

Also pay attention to your weight. Non flared landings have a weight limit similar to landing on the carrier. If you are overweight, don't flare, and don't use aft stick deflection you may very well run out of runway before you stop.

It's going to be beyond disappointing if this ends up being true. I would argue that getting the existing maps up to the standards that people expect should be far more important than putting out new maps. Like they should shelve any work on new maps if they really are saying they can't\won't retro update the lighting for existing maps. To me this would be like them coming out and saying, "hey, we can't get the ground radar working with the hornet so we're just going to leave it off the hornet but make sure you buy the falcon because we're putting it in there!". Again, I'm going to be wildly disappointed if new maps start coming out with updated tech that the old maps don't get.

When Wags first started putting out the academic videos he answered me in a YouTube comment and said that waypoint coupling would eventually be coming. Any updates on that? Low priority I imagine but is it waiting on other work as well?

Lighting in Ricardos cockpit broken with newest patch?
Arbil replied to Red_Donkey's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I just installed it for the first time to try and the only thing I am seeing that seems to be broken is the ammo counters. I can't see how much ammo I have left on the little number read outs on the weapon panel right in front of the stick. Everyone getting this? edit: It's just the sun glare when it hits them is so extreme they are impossible to read for me.
