31 Days before it's a next year release. This one looks to be a real nail biter folks. -
Training missiles including TGM-65's and CAP-9's only have active seekers while the rest of the missile body is empty or filled with concrete. Inert warheads are designated by a blue band around the body of the missile where the warhead is installed and live warheads which are generally a high explosive are designated by a yellow band.

I worked on F-4E's at Seymour Johnson AFB for a little over year and a half in 81/82/83. As a 462X0 weapons mechanic I was certified to load virtually every weapon in the Air Force inventory.

Would you consider making the E carrier capable IN GAME please?

Someone, will do exactly that and sooner rather than later I'd think. -

Time is running short for a 2022 release. -
Iirc, the WSO has the controls to lock on the Maverick but the pilot pulls the trigger. Also, the only Mavericks we loaded were TV guided, the IR and laser guided versions came later and I don't know if any Phantoms carried those. Funny story, one night we were running a test on one of our Phantoms that had some issue with Mavericks (I don't recall the specific issue) on it's left inboard pylon. My crew chief was in the front cockpit, our 2 man in the back cockpit and I was on the ground. I saw the aircraft crewchief come up to the plane and do a double take on the TGM-65 (training Maverick) that was hanging on the pylon and he took off running for 7 or 8 steps before stopping and giving our 2 man the middle finger. Turns out our 2 man ("Biggie") was playing with the TGM and had locked the camera in it's nose onto the aircraft crewchief. "Biggie" got someone else just a couple minutes later and his second victim about crapped himself when he realized the missile's camera was locked onto him while "Biggie" sat in the back cockpit laughing his ass off.

Sparrows don't "come off the rail" like a Sidewinder, they are mechanically forced away from the airplane when the impulse cartridges fire and the resulting exanding gas forces the lugs open and the ejector pistons to kick the missile away from the aircraft. There is a short cable that gets ripped out of a gelatin-like substance during the launch sequence, when it gets to the end, the rocket motor ignites, well, it's supposed to.

return to nav from dogfight
Elf1606688794 replied to silverdevil's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I don't have a Warthog Throttle or a boat switch, I'm using a Virpil throttle. If I map dogfight, center and missile override to a 3 position hat switch will that give me the results I desire? I'm looking to go to dogfight mode and stay there until I choose to leave, or missile override mode until I choose to leave. I choose to leave those modes by selecting the other mode OR hitting the Center switch (pressing the hat switch). -
This is pretty typical of what I'm seeing, good lock and missiles miss even though I'm not pulling large quantities of G forces. The .trk file is larger than 5mb....suggestions? I got it, uploaded it to Dropbox. I just started using that recently and forgot I had it set up. https://www.dropbox.com/s/4rmgna0ntqtcq1g/AIM-9's missing.trk?dl=0 I watched this from your link in Discord. Unfortunately it didn't help me figure out why I'm missing.

I'll see what I can do.

They aren't explosives. They have pellets in them that when burned produce gas, LOTS of gas. The resulting gas pressure in the rack is what opens the lugs and forces the ejector pistons down. (Similar to how 'smokeless powder" in modern rifle and pistol cartridges work (and modern shotshells) as opposed to black powder. Black powder will explode when ignited, smokeless powder just burns and produces a lot of gas. It's that gas that pushes the projectile (bullet/shotshell wad) down the barrel.) That gas leaves a highly corrosive residue in the plumbing for the rack and that plumbing has to be cleaned every night after use. It was a dirty, smelly, job that Mike Rowe would just love.

What do you mean by this?
-
No, 2-3 miles. Not to close, not to far.

Over and over and over my AIM-9P5's keep missing, sometimes they don't even track. Yes, I'm getting good tones from the missiles before launch and I'm using the uncage function. I'm not firing head on even though they are all aspect, I'm firing from the rear quarter of my targets. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong here but I feel like a complete dipstick atm. lol

Bomb racks (pylon mounted MAU-12's, MER, TER) and some missile launchers use impulse cartridges to open the racks and kick the munitions clear of the aircraft. All of the ones I saw were electrically primed and produced gobs and gobs of gas for their size. It was that gas quickly expanding and filling the lines in the rack that forced the bomb rack lugs open and forced piston(s) down to kick the munition away from the aircraft. Which munition was loaded on the rack determined which impulse cartridge was used. All of the ones I saw were the same diameter but varied in height. Even the smallest ones had the equivalent power to a 12 ga shotgun shell. BDU-33's and Mk-106's (25 lb and 5 lb training munitions) used the shortest cartridges I personally worked with (about 3/4" tall). A bit of gee whiz info....due to the fact that the firing pin pressed in on the primer and left an indention we could only install a cartridge 10 times and each time we removed a live, unfired cartridge we scribed a line from the primer to the outside edge. When a cartridge had 10 scribe marks it was no longer usable and was destroyed by EOD.

Why not just get a leather helmet, goggles, a pack of smokes and fly in your underwear? That would work for all planes. -
T-50CM2 Slider Axis with Detente - What do you use it for?

No more jumping out view, it's nice and smooth now. Thank you very much for your time and patience sir. -

Should I remove the "center" in order to remove the detent and resulting spyglass effect in addition to recalibrating? -

I've messed with the curve and found no joy, which is why I came here. The detent is definitely to early to not go past it, which, is also why I came here to find a solution. If you notice in the video I linked the detent is pretty close to your normal cockpit view and once you hit the detent, it's like looking through a spyglass. Can the detent be removed in the software? -

So is it possible to change how the zoom axis is working for me? I'd prefer it all look like it does when moving the slider forward.
