If the MiG-21 has nukes then the F-4E should get them also. (B-57 and B-61)

Announcing the F-4 Phantom for DCS World!
Elf1606688794 replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I can't wait to bomb Egpyt and issue beat downs to their MiGs. -
The T.O. for loading weapons gave us warnings and cautions for things we couldn't do and the only warnings/cautions it gave concerning TERS (that I can recall) were due to clearance issues for the bottom rack. I don't recall any warnings about loading Sidewinders on the rails while bombs were loaded on the shoulder stations of the TER. The shoulder stations were the only ones that might have interferred with the launch of a Sidewinder and even then only if the pilot didn't jettison his A2G ordinance before engaging an enemy aircraft. It would be beyond dumb to keep your A2G ordinance and suspension equipment while engaging enemy fighters due to the significant performance loss that stuff would cause. If the T.O. didn't specifically say you couldn't do something it was assumed that you could.
-
It was my understanding that pilots would drop ordinance if air combat was imminent. The F-4 only carried rockets briefly, at least the 2.75" rockets. It was discovered that when fired, a plastic piece on the back of the rocket would come off (intentional) as the fins popped out and it was getting injested into the engines causing damge to the turbine blades.
-
Yes. Exactly like this. *Edit* We never did loads like this however. Stations 1 and 9 always had 370 gallon fuel tanks but according to the T.O. we could have done this.
-
750 iirc. According to the T.O. we used the F-4E could carry up to 24 Mk-82s on 3 MERs and two TERs. MERs on 1, 5 and 9, TERS on 2 and 8. Additionally, it could carry 8 A2A missiles.
-
In 81-83 we loaded 3x Mk-82 on TERS that were mounted on the inboard pylons and 6 on the MERs that were loaded on the centerline rack. I never saw the adapter shown here but that would make it unlikely that you could carry 3 Mk-117s on that TER and maybe only a pair of Mk-82s.
-
Yes it can. *Edit* Mk-82 slicks and snakeyes for sure but due to clearance issues it might not be able to carry 3 Mk-117's. Iirc a MER on the centerline can only carry 5 Mk-117's due to clearance issues on the forward/lower rack. Just for clarification, the MAU-12 isn't an adapter per se, it's a full fledged bomb rack in it's own right and can carry/drop bombs. It does allow for other suspension equipment like the MER, TER and LAU-88 and others to be carried though. *Edit again* I see what you meant by the MAU-12 adapter. The base I was at didn't use them.

Announcing the F-4 Phantom for DCS World!

I wish I could say it was me but sadly I'm just a run of the mill schmuck that doesn't get to do cool stuff like that. -

Even better maybe, instead of estimates of release dates, how about progress updates? That's all I'd really like to see. -
I removed the randomizer and now the units spawn in order. I also removed the explode unit from the activate unit trigger and made new triggers for killing the unwanted units. Now the mission works as it should with 3 difficulty levels, the enemy units just don't spawn in a random order. Air Combat Practice.miz

Hi folks, I followed a mission creation video on how to make a training mission that can spawn up to 6 aircraft and has 3 difficulty settings. In order to make the mission easy or medium, I activate units and then explode them. On easy and medium difficulty settings when I spawn the units I want to remove (explode) they don't explode and instead come fight me. If I choose hard, the mission works as advertised. If I choose Easy, I fight 5 bandits (all but Red 2), if I choose Medium I fight 3 bandits (Red1, Red5 and Red6). In the trigger Easy, I have it set to activate units Red3 through Red 6 and then to explode the same units. In the trigger for Medium, it's set to activate units Red 5 and Red 6 and then explode them. Except the exploding part doesn't happen for either Easy or Medium. Ideas? YouTube tutorial on this mission. As far as I can tell, I followed his instructions to the letter. Air Combat Practice.miz

Happens when the AI MiG-15 is on Rookie setting also.

Finger Tracker Device
Elf1606688794 replied to Elf1606688794's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks! I'm not sure if it will work with a TrackIR set up yet, but I'm about to find out. -
A few years ago I saw a device that you put on your finger that allows you to point and click buttons/switches in the cockpit. It was meant for VR players but I see a use for it while using TrackIR as well, especially when flying propeller driven planes that don't have aileron trim. I've forgotten what it is called though and my interweb searches are coming up empty. Does anyone know what this device is called? Or even better have a link to it? Thanks in advance for any help that is given.

Instead of potential dates for release which are usually worthless because of unforeseen issues, how about giving updates about what they are working on, which parts are finished, which ones are being worked on and what's next on the table to get started on. I think regular updates like that would be fantastic and give those of us that have little/no experience in these things some inkling of the magnitude of these projects. In turn, that would likely give us a better appreciation of the modules we buy. -
Snake and nape loadouts were common on Phantoms that were doing close air support in 'Nam. If I remember correctly only about 40% of the weight of iron bombs is actual explosives so a Mk 82 would be about 200 lbs of explosive and the rest is potential shrapnel.

Opinions on the ACE Interceptor Pedals?
Elf1606688794 replied to wilbur81's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I haven't had any negative issues with my Virpil pedals. I like them better than my old CH pedals by several orders of magnitude. Yeah, me too. Yes I'm in the US. I ordered my Virpil gear in October of last year and all of my stuff shipped in just over a week but I probably finally got lucky for once in my life. -
