  1. Read a few posts above. You can mute or disable them.
  2. Steam normally takes 30%. They recently made some changes. Game prices for EU are also including 20% VAT. So first the government take its share, then Steam takes its 30% share from what is left. For instance, on Steam store, the F/A-18 Hornet full price (without sales discount) is 68.62 euro. Price before 20% VAT (price without VAT) is 57.18 euro. If Steam takes 30% from this, ED is left with 40 euro.

    Lack of content?

Assuming all of those would be available, would you be able to learn them all? It can take months to learn just one aircraft and its systems.
  4. At least in my case, while the discount percentages are the same during this sale, prices are slightly lower in ED/DCS store compared with Steam store. Could be because of the USD/EUR exchange rate Steam uses which leads to higher full prices on Steam. Sure, if you already bought modules in Steam (and at least some of them are not transferable to stand-alone), then having DCS in Steam is not that big of an issue. But if starting from scratch, in my opinion it's better to go with the stand-alone version.
  5. Yes, you can update to the beta. Here is a guide (look at the relevant section).
  6. Which custom skin was that? If that's the real cause of your issues, then others should avoid it.
  7. Just in case you missed the previous mentions: do not buy the Steam versions. :) The decision to go with stand-alone (website) version or with the Steam version is important, because you can't change later once you purchased something (with a few exceptions, which I won't go into now). The stand-alone version can be downloaded from here. You can choose either "DCS World 2.5" or "DCS World 2.5 Open Beta". Open Beta includes the newest updates and this is the one I use. This is the game itself, which is free and includes two free aircrafts (one with a "clickable cockpit", but no weapons; the other with weapons but without a "clickable cockpit"). You can start with the tutorials (training) missions from those two free aircrafts, to get a feel for the game. You can then buy so-called "modules" (aircrafts, terrains/maps, campaigns), but before purchasing anything, read a little about that particular module you are interested in. You should be aware that some modules are made by third party developers and some are better than others. There is no rush: this sale lasts until January 7th (at an unspecified time, so better decide by January 6th).
  8. I thought "narrated" would mean spoken commentary. The text is there.
  9. I tried a few of the training missions from MiG-21bis. None of the ones I tried is narrated (I also checked those missions in the Mission Editor and they don't have sound files). DCS OpenBeta 2.5.4.25729 Were those missions narrated at one time? The webstore page lists them like this: "Fully interactive, guided and narrated tutorials, helping you quickly and efficiently learn how to operate the MiG-21."
  10. With ths same springs and cams, forces on the grip are lower when using extensions.
  11. They announced that a new batch of products should be available from January 10 or so.
  12. You asked about using a Warthog grip on a Virpil base. My answer was about that case. Are you now talking about a MongoosT-50 grip? Just saying "T-50" is not clear. People should stop saying that. There are several grips, a joystick base and a throttle, all called MongoosT-50 (which some are shortening to "T-50"). Be specific.
  13. I have a Warthog grip on a MongoosT-50 base. It is a good combination, but the MongoosT-50 base was discontinued in October 2018. You can use the Warthog grip on the WarBRD base, but don't plan on using it with extensions. From people which have this combination (Warthog grip + WarBRD base), it is also good.
  14. I was thinking to buy the MiG-15bis module. I know that MiG-15bis developer (Belsimtek) merged with ED. So the MiG-15bis module should now be a "in-house"/ED module (not third party anymore). But is that correct? The shop still list it as "DCS: MiG-15bis by Belsimtek". Who owns the MiG-15bis source code now? A third party or ED?
  15. Your thread title mentions VKB instead of VPC. I would not say that. But in your case a big plus for the Virpil option is that you can use your Warthog grip on their base without any adapter (you can use the Warthog grip on a VKB Gunfighter base, too, but it requires to mount an adapter in the Warthog grip). On the other hand, VKB has a US dealer. Center mount is not an issue. The tilting, especially with Warthog grip and possibly even with an extension, might be (it might not stay centered if you let it go). If you are not getting an extension, you should get their desk mount + adapter plate for WarBRD (or only the adapter plate and mount it somehow). Although they say WarBRD is a desktop base, the total height (especially with their grips) is kind of high. It will work better with a mount which allows it to be installed in a lower position. I have the MongoosT-50 base+ Warthog grip. Assuming the WarBRD Cosmosim cams give a similar feel as MongoosT-50 Cosmosim cams (and by the reports of some people they are similar), you should get a "no center" feel (meaning no "notch" in the center), combined with only a slight increase of force as you move the grip towards the full deflection. Correct. If you want, you can use TARGET for Warthog throttle. VPC software is only used for firmware updates, loading profiles (for the base + grip combination you use), calibration and button assignments. Once these are done, the changes are saved into the base firmware and the software is not needed until you want to make another change. Some functions are not yet available in Virpil Configuration software (such as mapping joystick buttons to keypresses - you need other software to do that). Yeah. Shipping cost to US is expensive. On the bright side, you are not paying 21% VAT (on the total cost, including shipping).
  16. Best option for your case would have been a MongoosT-50 base. But it was discontinued in October 2018. WarBRD base works with the Warthog grip, but using that heavy grip and a 75 mm extension might be too much. The behavior of the gimbal can be changed by using different cams and springs. Some have a clear center detent, some don't (or less pronounced). The force increase as you deflect the grip also varies from cam to cam. WarBRD comes with two types of springs and with two types of cams (and a third type of cam -WarBRD Cosmosim - is sold separately - make sure you get that, too, in case you get a WarBRD). You will only use VPC (Virpil) software. TARGET only works with the Thrustmaster base. So the base/gimbal base determines which software you can use. Not the grip. Right now WarBRD is not in stock, but they are supposed to restock today, at 6pm-9pm GMT (UTC). The stocks usually don't last long.

    What new plane?

Modern jets are much easier to land, take-off and taxi than WW II taildraggers.
  18. I see. To better monitor the situation, use VKB JoyTester.
  19. I'm sure he knows all that. What he is looking for is a complete list of modules which still use serial numbers and modules which are "keyless". All in one place. I would find such list handy, too. "DCS new modules" is kind of vague (I think Mirage was supposed to be the first "keyless" one). I have an older list (from May 2018 ) of modules from Steam which still used StarForce - those had a serial number (so Steam purchased modules which can also be activated on DCS stand-alone). I guess it's safe to assume that all those are using serial numbers even when directly bought for the stand-alone version (from the DCS store). The modules marked with a white bar use StarForce (so those should have a serial number):
  20. I can list the modules I have. With serial number: L-39 Albatros MiG-21bis NS430 Navigation System Without serial number ("keyless"): AV-8B Night Attack NS430 Navigation System for L-39 cockpit L-39 Albatros: Kursant (campaign)
  21. I don't know if this would help, but you can increase the smoothing for that axis. See if it's better, worse or the same.
  22. Take a look at the images from the first post.
  23. If you buy it from AliExpress and you are in EU, it will go through customs and normally you will have to pay VAT.
