  1. Thanks, Ike. I'll be gentle ;)
  2. In the same way that I've only looped and rolled the Lynx. Plus quite a few planks as well, but like you say they don't count. Looks like I was mistaken about the Gazelle's abilities, though I also remember at least one colleague being killed when he pushed the envelope too far. Not gonna get in a fight about it though. Nice to see some intelligent and informed discussion :)
  3. Because it gave us all a chance to enjoy the fantastic quote earlier in the thread? Or because he did what we're supposed to do - search for the info, found this thread and asked, perhaps? I don't care - it was worth it for the laugh :)
  4. Slightly OT, but... I've never joined an MP server or indeed flown MP. It sounds like a great idea, though. Could, someone please tell mw what SRS is, though? Thanks.
  5. Thought I'd seen something... Thanks for the comment anyway - at least it proves I'm not going daft.
  6. Um. I learned to fly on the Gazelle. I know it definitely wasn't cleared for inverted flight - pretty sure 100 degrees of bank was the limit - and I'm almost certain that the reason it wasn't cleared for loops and rolls was that it wouldn't do them. I recall the Lynx as being the first helicopter in British service which could be looped and rolled without crashing - a function of the rigid rotor head (like the Bo105). The Gazelle had an articulated rotor head and wouldn't take the stresses on loops and rolls. Cool videos but they don't really sell the accuracy of the flight model very well. *Caveat - I really like the Gazelle and it's a fun module to fly. It's realistic enough if you keep it within the real limts...
  7. OK, at least what I'm trying to do is sorted - not sure if it's what you want or not, but here goes: From the manual " UNIT INSIDE MOVING ZONE. This trigger allows you to attach a trigger area zone to a unit and the zone will move along with the assigned unit. Note, the trigger zone can be placed anywhere on the map, but will in fact be always attached to the center of the assigned unit in-game. When selected, you should first select the unit that the area trigger will be attached to by selecting it from the ZONE UNIT drop down list. Next, select the area trigger zone that will be attached to the unit from the ZONE drop down list. Lastly, you need to set the unit that will set the trigger to true when it enters the zone unit’s zone. Do this by selecting a unit from the UNIT drop down list." All really obvious. What isn't obvious is the way it actually needs to be set up. So in my case I want a convoy to get all exciteable and trigger happy if the player aircraft comes within a set distance. 1 - Set a trigger zone with the radius you want. It can go anywhere at all - it doesn't matter. Give it an appropriate name. 2 - Go to trigger actions, setup a new trigger action. 3 - Go to the middle column and hit New. Then choose "Unit inside moving zone" 4 = Now select the name of the trigger zone you created earlier. 5 - Where it says "Zone unit" pick the unit you want the trigger zone to follow. 6 - Where it says "Unit" pick the unit you want to trigger an action when it enters the zone. 7 - Now go to the last column and select the triggered action in the usual way. HTH
  8. No I was talking about number 2, though what I actually referred to was indeed switch 8 (which does nothing as you'll no doubt know). I was also mistaken though - it just changes the symbology from white to black, not the image itself. You can do good stuff with the brightness and contract controls, but not enough to make the cab properly usable at night. Sorry for the duff info.
  9. True. But at the risk of being a dick, that isn't what you asked. You were looking for a way to swap image from white to black, which might make spotting targets easier in some conditions. And that switch with the moon and sun icons will do that. Whether it helps is a different question...
  10. You still can. I'm certain that there's a switch with the brightness and contrast controls to do this. It may not have a key binding though?
  11. Hi, Apologies if this is a can of worms, but... I'm trying to get specific aircraft to fly with nav lights (and perhaps beacons) on in a particular mission. Is there an .lua that is editable which would do that? And if so, could someone point me at the file and the line? Ta
  12. Sorry if it's already reported - couldn't find it. Set a group of ground units to follow the road and they, um, don't. They wander off randomly, though interestingly one or two of them may follow the road. This is on the current Beta release and I'm accessing editor from Ka-50. [Edit] Here's a link to the thread it's first mentioned (just not in the "Bugs" section) with more info: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=270516
  13. Same problem - even resorted to RTFM but I can't work out how to make a zone move with an object...
  14. It's not just you, though - I've had the same problem trying to set up a "Follow and Report" mission... The truck convoy the player should follow drives like Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder are doing the navigation.
  15. Thanks for your efforts. You probably already know this, but just in case... Creating a mission with a FARP seems to only allow one pad to be used for spawning, regardless of which is selected. Pretty sure you used to be able to put an aircraft on a specific spot like you can on the airfield but now that doesn't seem to work. I haven't had time to try it with a Harrier or Gazelle - wonder if it's module specific?
  16. Sure you can. Either [RCtrl][RShift][RAlt] and ] or [ to turn it up or down. Or map that to a control. Set it to NVG mode using the panel below the HUD (three way switch) and adjust brightness using the knob to the left. HTH
  17. I think that's "Overfly"...isn't it? It's the correct labelling which has been applied in the last mini-update. Unless I'm totally wrong.
  18. You can turn down the Shkval brightness and adjust contrast as well. It still sucks at night, but that's a "feature" of the as-modelled Ka-50. Controls are just below the screen (I think) Please don't ask about proper night fighting capability unless you want to open a can of worms.
  19. There's always one... Yep, I'd love to see the Buccaneer. It would be perfectly valid with the AV-8B, F16 and F18 as well, being as it was used in Desert Storm for target designation...
  20. Hi Neil, No problem here, but what version of DCS are you using and what are your system specs? Are you running anyting else that may capture those keys for some other purpose?
  21. Hi, as it says really - does anyone have a Ka-50 pilot template that I could use, please? I have some ideas but I can't practically make them work without that... And yes, I understand that it may all go out the window when BS3 arrives, but the practice will be invaluable. Thanks.
  22. Doh! Teaches me to RTFM... Thanks for the info
  23. As it says, really. Using Route setting on AP follows WPs as you'd expect, and they update until the cows com home. But manually you can only select WP 1-5. Clicking on any of the buttons after 5 has no apparent effect. Current OB release.
  24. No, there isn't a master light switch, sorry.
  25. I think what he's saying is that if he sets his altimeter to the QNH then the altitude shown is different to the airfield elevation. And if he sets it so that it reads 155m, which is the correct airfield elevation, then it's 5mmHg out from the correct QNH. So yeah, a typo (probably - apologies if I misunderstood)
