  1. That was the point I was making. I DO keep up with DCS news. That's how I know that Heatblur never promised a 2018 release date for the F-14. They are TRYING for a release this year, but NO PROMISES. And no, I'm not going to lump Heatblur in with whatever scheduling problems other development teams may have. What other devs are doing is utterly irrelevant to this module. Cobra publicly acknowledged his mistake of claiming a 2017 release for the Tomcat at the first of the year. They did not make the same mistake this time. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  2. I know you're trying to be diplomatic, and believe me, I applaud you for it. Not sure that I could do the same. But this guy only seems to want to rant about expectations that he's formulated in the depths of his own mind.
  3. They have publicly stated that the F-14 will release THIS WINTER. They'll TRY for 2018, but no promises.
  4. It really did remind me of the Tomcat demos I used to see when I was growing up.
  5. I'm making a leap of faith and hoping that Heatblur's calendar is the same one I'm using. But, yes, I do try to not get too wound up over release dates. It won't be much longer, in any case. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  6. 12/21/18 to 3/20/19 is when you can expect it. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  7. That would be pretty amusing, actually.
  8. The Sparrowhawk B 'Cat would be nice, but I don't think not having it will be much of a handicap. Sure, it will take some time to learn to "talk Turkey", but once you get used to the F-14 it will be like anything else. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  9. I take it that Cmdr. "Hoser" Satrapa was looked upon unfavorably by at least some of his peers?
  10. I wouldn't worry.
  11. You forgot one. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  12. No matter what people might say, she was a lot more than just fast. But, if speed is your mania, you'll get it in spades. The Turkey was fast, alright. Very, very fast.
  13. Just one more reason to be glad I frequent these forums. Not only are they a wealth of information, but you discover unforeseen treasure troves like links to the archive of Neptunus Lex (thanks, BlackLion). It's very unfortunate that he's no longer with us. His posts were always entertaining and, although an internet blog is generally a poor way to get a read on someone, I believe that he was also a good man. Sometimes I was shocked, sometimes I laughed, sometimes I simply sat back and thought a little harder about a topic I had otherwise dismissed. Regardless, I always felt like I was at least a little better off for having taken the time.
  14. The Tomcat had it's quirks, but being slow definitely wasn't one of them. Even the late Captain Carroll Lefon, detractor of the F-14 that he was, allowed that "she would go like a striped-assed baboon when you put her to the spur". Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  15. This is more or less the approach that I use. I always try not to take any of it too seriously. It's only a video game, after all, and I'm no fighter pilot. As long as I understand what someone means then I couldn't really care if they got it right or not.
  16. Just wait. The YouTube music videos will be falling like rain.
  17. Try this. http://www.avialogs.com/index.php/en/aircraft/usa/grumman/f-14tomcat.html
  18. So pretty.
  19. Takes me back.
  20. This. Those AIM-9s and the gun were not window dressing. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  21. This is from anft.net. "Additionally, in the late 1970's a few F-14s (VX-4: 159827/"41", 159829/"43", 159830/"44", 159831/"45"; VF-1: 158979/"NK100"; VF-2: 158985/"NK200"; VF-124: 159827/"NJ410"; PMTC: ??????/"201"; VF-101: 161135/"AD102" slightly different Ferris colours in 1981) were temporarily painted in the so-called Keith Ferris camouflage scheme (see below). For this deceptive paint system three gray colours were applied in a serrated scheme (matt dark gray (FS 36118, dark gull gray (FS 36231) and light gull gray (FS 36440))" EDIT: http://www.anft.net/f-14/f14-detail-colours.htm Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  22. Eh...I don't know that I would file the Ferris scheme(s) under 'Aggressor', but they're popular enough that I'm sure they'll be an option. I just referenced Cobra's post about the 'B' because it follows that Heatblur will take a similar approach with the 'A'. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  23. This is straight from Cobra (in case you missed it): "Hoping to at least have one livery for each F-14B squadron on EA release with more following on. Aggressor schemes are included in that hope." https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=222592
  24. I'd honestly rather they just did that. I would buy an F-14D if Heatblur was able to pull it off, but I'm not all the way sure the DoD would be very forthright with the necessary details. An upgraded B would probably be quite a bit easier. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
