  1. On what kind of targets and it what kind of engagement scenarios?
  2. Ahh... interesting... seriously... I would leave the slider at default and never move it. :) I think the biggest misconception people have with AAMs it that they should be killing evasive fighter sized targets from long range and that just doesn't happen. Cheers
  3. In "Mig-29 Flight Manual: Declassified" it states that maximum speed in level flight is Mach 2.3.
  4. To me this is impossible... a 30 degree dive will give a descent rate of over 15,000 feet/min and there is no way that those little air brakes will stop the plane from accelerating. They will help reduce the acceleration though. Look at the A-10... it has a much higher drag profile compared to the Su-25 and it has very large speed brakes... The A-10 will accelerate in a 30 degree dive with the brakes out. 30 degrees nose down is a very steep descent!
  5. I think I see where some confusion in all this lies... In my book... "Su-25 All Varients" by 4+ Publication in the Czech Republic it states the following about the air brakes... "The airbrakes were changed from a 2 piece to an improved 4 piece W-design, allowing steeper dive angles not exceeding maximum speed over 700 km/h limit." To me, this means that the Su-25 has a design airspeed limitation of 700 km/h in a dive and with the aid of the 4 piece air brakes the speed can be better controlled in a dive so as the limit of 700 km/h is not reached as fast as it had been previously with the 2 piece brake. This make sense guys?
  6. I have no time to do it right now guys but if someone else wants to take it on... go ahead. :)
  7. I would imagine the A-10 is very easy to fly and most likely, this guy finds the arcade version way easier to fly then Lock On especially when it comes to the departure model... too bad he didn't go into more detail.
  8. I think, in regards to any optically guided and Mk 1 eyeball acquired IR SAM, if you approach supersonic, by the time the little Igla dude or strela operator would realize you were there you'd be gone by and he wouldn't have a hope of acquiring you. A shilka's limited acquisition range would also be too short to pick you and react while blowing by supersonic. It's possible that Eagle is taking into account these factors. Imagine yourself... a supersonic jet approaches you low level... you would have no clue it was there until it had blown over and was far gone... not to mention the complete disorientation you'd experience including the shockwave effects and pain of blown ear drums. :)
  9. Here's the track. Slammer.zip
  10. I meant for his track. :)
  11. No worries... what missile slider setting will you use? I'll make a track too.
  12. What are you testing your ground clutter bug theory against? If it's the missile itself then it should be very weak against any target in a look down situation correct? I just did a test... Me at 7000m 3 IL-76 at 1000m I fired one AMRAAM at each target in TWS mode all from well outside RTR and got a hit on all 3 Candids. That tells me it's not the missile. If you are having problems against fighters then it's the evasive maneuvers and notching that are defeating the AMRAAM.
  13. I agree completely... I wish it wasn't there either. bflagg... I just ran a quick test(3 engagements)... missile slider at defualt(I have never moved it ever) F-15 quick start mission... TWS bug of both Su-17s... launch at 8.0nm(top of RTR) 1 - 2 kills 2 - 2 kills 3 - 1 kill Those seem like pretty good results to me... I would never expect 100% on each and every eangagement because the AI evasive maneuvers are different with each engagement.
  14. What missile slider setting are you guys using in these findings?
  15. That is correct... and propbably the biggest factor on air brake effectiveness is weight of the aircraft... the more inertia the harder it is to slow down. Look at the descent rate in a 30 degree dive and look at the surface area of the air brakes... do you think the small surface area of the brake will prevent acceleration at a descent rate of over 100 m/sec?
  16. I just ordered it from Empire Interactive in the UK and looking forward to checking it out in order to get some perspective for Black Shark. Last helo sim I played was Longbow II and that was many, many years ago.
  17. They look great zoomed in on the Shkval. ;)
  18. Sounds very interesting SUBS! Please keep us updated.
  19. I believe "Irtysh" is just the ECM component and the programmable chaff/flare system is separate. The Ka-50 has the UV-26 programmable flare defense system for example.
  20. Jetfire... Very creative!! Nice work guys!
  21. So you run your FLCS through the PlasmaV2 and it is converted to digital USB? What do you use to program it? Where is the gameport connection from the HOTAS plugged in to? Very interesting piece of kit! Thanks for sharing the info.
  22. Andrew, I just tried and all AI mission run as the host of a newtork game and no log file was printed after all the AI action. I have to eat now then am of to Yellowknife till tomorrow morning. Maybe it only works for player actions. BTW... I didn't have any mission goals set so that might also be why.
  23. I'll try to make one right now... stby.
  24. Hi SUBS, That is an FLCS/TQS I have had since the late 90's but modified with the Stickworks Digital Chipset. Split throttle... from where? plasmaV2... what the hell is that?
